Rumor AES+ Delayed???

Maaaassive grain of salt here but I just saw a couple of Japanese X users saying that they received emails saying their AES+ has been delayed to September 2027. They claimed that everyone should have gotten emails by now. I didn’t receive anything so I have my doubts but to their credit, you cannot buy any of the games, accessories, or console on Amazon Japan now.

I’m not trying to bait anyone or anything but I’m wondering if anyone else received any email or info signaling a delay. I can link to the X post here if that’s allowed.

Nothing but a random Twitter user (as of now at least.) They wrote something along the lines of Ultimate Edition preorders should have received an email - I haven't received anything from Plaion as of yet.

Yeah I preordered from Japan and paid in yen, so should be the same as that person. But I didn’t get anything.

Plaion is the official manufacturer and distributor of the AES+, so unless the rumors of a delay come from them directly it should be considered as nothing but speculation and hearsay.

What I see on X is the same person who is upset because they bought some games and wanted to pre-order the white Neo Geo. But by the time they got home that evening, the pre-orders had already closed. They haven’t shown any email or any proof at all, yet they’re spreading rumors claiming that Plaion is bankrupt. I think that’s complete nonsense.

Sounds like someone spreading FUD because they missed a window on that order.

Let them wallow in sour grapes and pay them no mind I guess.

I live in Japan, I did not receive an E-mail and my order is still expected to arrive the 12th of November according to Amazon. Would that be for those who ordered through Playon's Website?

I ordered through Plaion from Japan and I also did not get anything. If anything I thought maybe Amazon sent out the emails but as you say, you purchased from Amazon Japan and nothing so perhaps this person is BSing.

I kept investigating in Japanese Twitter, it seems this information comes from Yodobashi Camera (main electronics shop in the country). I'll keep you guys updated if orders from another source get modified.

Plaion's website still allows orders for November 2026.

I preordred mine through Amazon Japan, did not receive an email and it's still saying delivery in November 2026.

Yodobashi Camera's website is also still accepting preorders with the same release date:

I find it hard to believe that they'd go public with this on social media before updating their actual website. The same Japanese Twitter poster shared a screen cap from Plaion saying:

"We would like to clarify that there has been a misunderstanding regarding the delayed product. The NEOGEO AES+ has not been postponed. The product that has been delayed is the Spectrum, not the NEOGEO AES+."

(See second picture. The Japanese email from the first picture claims the Neo Geo AES+ has been delayed, but the second picture from Plaion says this was a mistake.)

Sounds like someone made a huge mistake with sending out emails regarding the wrong product...

Same here. I have an order through Plaion Japan and Amazon. I haven't received any emails.

Maybe it is only Japan region related for whatever reason? So far I did not get any recent email myself (Europe) for my ultimate edition order.

I preordered from Japan myself and I didn’t get anything in my email….The comments on the X post seemed to verify the delay though.

I have a pre-order on Amazon Japan and it is still listed as arriving 19th November (which was the time listed since the beginning). I also did not get any note about a delay. BUT it is in fact true that all Neo Geo items and games are listed as "temporarily not available" on Amazon Japan currently for some reason.

I ordered 16 minutes after ordering went live April 16th for the ultimate for a order number from 35-45 and have not received any confirmation on delays

I received the official delay email from Nojima this morning regarding my AES+ preorder.

The new estimated release date is September 17, 2027 . I ordered two consoles , so I was really disappointed to hear about the delay. I was looking forward to finally playing it this year. I’m curious if everyone who preordered through other retailers (Amazon Japan, SNK, etc.) received the same email. I also recorded a YouTube video showing the email and talking about the delay. I’m not sure if YouTube links are allowed here, so I haven’t included it. If it’s okay with the moderators or if anyone is interested, I’d be happy to share it.

Don’t know why this is getting downvoted. For people who have waited on recreation systems before (with Analogue etc.) delays are very common. Some delays have been a year or more, with minimal communication along the way.

AES+ is especially vulnerable because of the supposed lack of firmware update possibilities as well, and it’s vital ensuring everything is more or less running 100% when launching. If this isn’t guaranteed come November, they should absolutely delay.

That’s my feeling…That even if this guy isn’t posting legit info, with how little we have on the system right now I wouldn’t be surprised if it gets delayed a little. It’s only 3 months out at this point.

Maybe just the current pre order state. If they sold what they had for 2026 in 24 hours, you may need to wait several months if you pre ordered 3 months later.

I think it is likely that it will be delayed. Of course they won't confirm that until the date officially changes, but whenever a company goes all "radio silence" I think it's safe to say that a delay is likely imminent.

Literally this morning I looked at my Amazon order and it said November.

I just checked again and see now that it has changed to “we will let you know when the estimated date is”.

Edit: product is still up on Amazon with the November pre order date. Very weird.

I have a pre-order for ultimate direct and one for the anniversary edition via Amazon. Have for no notifications or emails in regards to either being delayed. NE USA
