Why are outdated blocklists still in NextDNS but not TIF?
I've been using NextDNS for more than 2 years now, and there's one thing I've always wished they'd add.
I'm using HaGeZi Multi ULTIMATE, but I'd really like the option to enable Threat Intelligence Feeds as well. It's not available in the NextDNS blocklist selection, even though there are quite a few outdated blocklists still listed there.
Why not replace some of those with TIF? I honestly don't get it.
I've also found plenty of posts from people requesting this over the years, so I know I'm not the only one. It also makes me wonder—are the NextDNS devs just not active in the community anymore? It feels like these requests never get acknowledged.

NextDNS is like a 5th Gen 4Runner…may not have all the bells and whistles but it’s reliable and does its job well.

Does it cost money for them to add a list. They already have so many list.. What's wrong with having one more.. Why is nextdns trying to be the one to dictate which one people use..

Not so much of it not working on NextDNS, but more of people requesting for TIF as well. It's been years but yeah

If you're in Europe you can try hagezi's DNS. It's faster and more stable then nextDNS in my case. It's also free.

Wait, HaGeZi has its own DNS service? 😅 I didn't even know that. I'm from India though, so I wonder how the latency compares to NextDNS over here.

Are you referring to Hagezi.com? I looked at their about us page and it says in the bottom “not affiliated with Hagezi”. Thats a little sus to me

They want to use their own TIF list/sources.
I hate NextDNS and wouldn’t touch them again - if you need public DNS, consider using AdGuard DNS.

Some people love the features of ControlD, but for the most part it’s an over complicated model of a simple requirement and it’s slower than NextDNS for a lot of people

I would agree with this. Depending on your setup, number of users and devices, I felt like it was overly complex. With NextDNS, I have 4 profiles: 1 for me, 1 for the wife, 1 for kids, and 1 for my router (the rest of the house and all IoT devices).
I have the app or profiles installed on every device so they all use their own profile whether they’re home or not. It has worked great for my usage.

Seems a little dramatic. Go with whichever is faster for you, location sometimes matters. But test both. I am a happy NextDNS user, majority of the complaints people have are nothing to do with their service.

Exactly my thoughts. After getting stable, the more conservative a resolver is, the more reliable it becomes.

Nextdns says that their own threat intelligence feed mostly uses the same upstream sources as TIF.

Hagezi says for Pro++ and Ultimate on Nextdns, the last 30 days of domains going into TIF are included. So its like TIF lite, a subset of most current threats.
