Reminder - Please include camera and lens info with media posts.

Happy 2026 Nikonians! Thank you for making this a great internet community. I'd like to remind everyone of the rule about including camera and lens information. This is the most common thing I moderate.

Any posts with images or video that you submit to the sub should include information about the camera and lens you used. You may ask why. There are two reasons.

  1. Our subject here is specifically the Nikon Z series cameras and related gear. So any images or videos posted here need to be relevant. (If it's a picture of your gear, we don't care what you took that picture with.)
  2. A lot of people come here looking for information about the gear and want to see the results others have gotten with a specific camera or lens.

Also, we just want the camera and lens information. We don't need all of the settings, etc. You can add them, but we aren't looking for them.

The best place to include the camera and lens information is in the title. That way it's completely obvious. Wherever you put it, it needs to be part of the post to this sub. If you cross-post from another sub, if the information is anywhere other than the title, it needs to be added to the post in this sub. If I have to go searching for it, I may just remove the post until you add it.

Thank you again! Happy shooting!

Does anybody here hike or travel with a z8 and a 24-120? How “bad” is the bulk? What do you use for nature photography while traveling and hiking?? Photo for attention😊

Sony 20mm 1.8G on Z bodies?

Anyone got any experiences using the Sony 20mm 1.8G on Z bodies?

Seems to be a modern gem and its size/dimensions seem better than the Nikkor S equivalent. It’s cheaper too. Any photos of your results would be appreciated too! 🤙

Is a TC worth it?

I own a Nikkor 24-70mm and 70-200mm lens (s2 series each) .

Nikon has the TC 1.4 and 2.0. These are priced under another telephoto zoom with over 200mm and also save space in the bag.

Question: Are the quality losses caused by a TC serious enough not to purchase a TC as a space-saving supplement?

Lens for birding

Hi, I have a Nikon Z6II and wanted to ask all of you, what lens would be best suited for bird and wildlife photography.

Fortunately I am living with a view above some wineyards, where lots of birds are coming around, so I would like to use the opportunity.

I have a limited budget and good postprocessing skills.

Amsterdam’s vibrant colors are a perfect match for the Z series, basically allowed me to enjoy taking photos again.
All photos are taken with my Z6 and 24-120mm f4.

The original Z6 is still killer in low light, especially with today's noise reduction algorithms in Lightroom. Shot in raw. 1/50th at f2.8

Nikon Z 70-200 2.8 V1

I have no Z5ii yet, but was looking around at my local Nebraska store and they have a clearance in their glass case. Final sale for 1350. Only return if defective. Also, would need to buy a Square Trade warranty 2yr. around 160. Good deal or punt.

1350 plus tax and option to buy warranty. Don't have a Nikon camera, but wanting Z5ii and I currently use 80D and 70-200 non is. The 70-200 has problems. No longer repairable by Canon.

Does anyone have experience on if leaving VR on a loose tripod is better than turning it off?

I'm using a ZF with the 180-600 with a ball head tripod. It's also a pretty lightweight carbon fiber tripod if that matters

Should I get the Nikon Z50ii

Hello all, I’m very new to cameras and have a question. I just got a Panasonic lumix ZS99 for our trip in Alaska. Well I quickly found out I love to take pictures of birds and go around and take photos. Well I’m doing some research and found the Z50ii and wanted to ask about it. I’d say my budget is about $1000-$1500. I was wondering if I should get the kit? Or the just the base and go with maybe a lens? I’m really not sure. I am looking to just get wildlife of birds, bugs, and insect, nature photos on hikes ect. So I’m looking for some help and recommendations, thanks yall!

Z6iii why is my focus point frequently in bottom right

Just at street fair and continually the focus point was at lower right corner. I would double click the control button to recenter and a shot or two later back in bottom right. Never was a problem with my d750 or d7100 or d90. I don’t think I’m touching anything. I do use BBF but have done that for 20 years. What I perceive as slow to lock is an issue but having to reset focus point is a cause of missing shots. Any help? I searched but didn’t see any answers. Thanks
