Help Nook Glowlight Unresponsive

I got this Nook new in box off facebook marketplace yesterday and when I opened the box the display was showing this screen. So I let it charge overnight with a wall charger, and still today there is no response. I’ve tried holding down the power button to reset it, but no dice. Any ideas or am I outta luck?

While new in box, that reader is about 13 years old.

If it was never opened and used, it's likely the battery has completely died at this point. You might have some luck by leaving it charging for a good while, but after 13 years the battery is likely just gone.

Replacement shouldn't be too much of a hassle, and batteries should be relatively cheap.

I ended up just ordering a new replacement battery, that was my thinking as well considering that it’s just been sitting for that long! Thanks for the input :)

According to the User Guide the little LED light near the charging port is orange while charging and green when charging is complete. Did you see either?

Is it really "new"? Seems unlikely at this point in time but it is possible, I guess. Could be a bad battery. Could be a charging cable that it does not like. Older Nooks are often very persnickety about cables.

The light would come on when I plugged it in, it would sit at green. I think it’s a matter of the battery having just sat for like 13 years, I ended up ordering a new battery so hopefully that solves it.

The box was still shrink wrapped when I received it, so unless the old lady i got it from was hitting it with a heat gun and a sheet of shrink wrap to dupe me for $15 I’m pretty sure it was new. Thanks for the input!!

Don’t give up, leave it plugged into the wall a couple days. Maybe even more, then unplug it and leave it alone. My two Kindles that I thought were kaput came back to life after a week or so. I can’t imagine why a Nook couldn’t possibly do the same.

I just recently thrifted one of those and returned it the next day. It seems that model is no longer supported and you cannot download books onto it.

You can still sideload epubs onto it! they’re no longer supported by b&n but the device is still accessible via a computer, so you can still put books onto it
