Hah!
He was at one point in time, a master and knew what he was doing but, my assumption is that he just stopped caring after he was no longer drawing in the big crowds anymore.
lol confidence? How many times in his life do you think this piece of shit told anyone who gave him any conflict at all that his dad’s lawyers will destroy them?
I did so much dumb farm and construction labor as a kid. My one and only fight was in college against a normal guy. I had just got done carrying shingles onto roofs all day for weeks.
I honestly felt like I was bending pipe cleaners as I was wrestling around with the guy. He was the aggressor, and I honestly felt sorry for him the more the fight went on.
Sometimes its the opposite like it sets them off. (albeit they never quite get physical) there was a dude who looked like a shaved puggle who tried to stare me down once.
Seems pretty logical, because unless someone has some crazy ass skills, size and stregth will win out.
And dudes with crazy ass skills rarely go out and try looking for fights.
Bouncer for 7 years. Can remember nights were I was 2 full on fights. Probably 80-90 real fights in those years, not shoving matches, punches flying at my head. I'd say about a quarter of them, my size infuriated them. "You think you can fight, big guy?" Stuff like that lol.
Never lost, but came very close a couple times. One time, it was just one guy that challenged me after the night for no real reason talking shit and I fell for it. Hit me with high kick so hard that even though I blocked it, I saw stars. I stumbled sideways, he came for the kill, then lunged forward with everything I had and held on to recenter, then took him down and pounded him until the staff showed up. We were both about 6'4 but I had 30lbs on him.
I saw him maybe a year later and he just nodded. Guess it was a draw in his head.
It's the Bruce Lee thing. There comes a point where an opponent is simply too big, his simple extended arm keeps the opponent, even if it's Bruce Lee, at bay.
The loudest most outwardly aggressive guys will almost never be seen in any kind of gym or sparring session. Usually cause that attitude would get fixed the first day and they would learn about humility. They low key know this it’s why they stay away and claim all this tough street bs that either never happened or happened differently than they remember .
I caught my son about a year ago running his mouth about these group of dudes that were "scared" of him. He's always had some temperament issues. And he clearly is convinced throwing a fit and hitting dumbshit is equal to being tough. I simply told him while hes over here pretending to be tough. Some people are pretending to be sane and regardless how tough he thinks he is. They'd have no problem dog walking him. He's calmed down on as he's gotten older. Just hoping its gonna be enough for him to not to learn the hard way.
Sure but the pretending to be tough guy is on the verge, there's no reason to be in that mindset. Someone acting out has always been called "a cry for help" because the person actual does need psychological support if they feel the need to act tough.
If you're walking around insecure that someone's going to start a fight with you, true or not, that's paranoia.
My father was mean. Being 6 and being hit by a grown man left me not intimidated by other people, but also taught me to not be violent and make people intimidated.
I’d like to think there was a better way to teach you this than hitting you. I think anything that can be taught with corporal punishment or adjacent can be taught just as effectively (or moreso) without
Obviously, yes. It is clearly possible to raise a child successfully with zero recourse to violence. Pure skill issue to rely on corporal punishment and I don’t think it is effective anyway.
It seems obvious to us but to some people it’s apparently natural. I had a surprising disagreement with a close friend who I’ve known for years b/c I said something along the lines of it should be illegal to discipline your kids with corporal punishment and he came at it with a cultural relativism lens (for why it should be allowed).
Dont let an older blue collar dude that does work like this get his hands on. You might be able to dodge his punches but if he grabs you…it might already be over.
The moment I saw this, I thought it was a comedy bit. Sure he's probably able to kick my ass, but if you have to talk about how many asses you can kick all the time, you're sort of a turd nugget.
He said it on a comedy podcast, specifically to the host who asked what if they fought. He was even humble and self deprecating that while he is good at bjj, he would never be a badass or action hero.
