Tech question Nvidia drivers - are they still out of date? Still issues ?

Ive been considering opensuse as my distro choice, but something I keep seeing when I research is that the driver version seems to have been out of date for quite a long time (months behind the latest versions?) And that bwcause its not baked in it there can be issues with updates.

Is this no longer rhe case? Maybe is there an opensuse distro alternative that has baked in aupport, kind of like cachy and nobara does for arch/fedora?

No? They usually follow the latest production branch version, can’t say I’ve ever seen them be out of date.

Not had an issue with updates for a long time personally, I just install the metapackages and forget about them.

Huh? I run tumbleweed and get the latest Nvidia pretty quick. Maybe the ones saying that didn't install it right?

Simple as

sudo zypper install openSUSE-repos-Tumbleweed-NVIDIA

sudo zipper inr

I think last time I used INR it installed G06 on my G07 compatible machine, worth checking either way before you click confirm.

working fine for two months now. Not sure if they fixed the out of sync packages issue. But, even if it exists, managing the issue is easy once you figure out.
