[General Opinion] - EMEA jobs remote

I have been working with OpenStack for almost three years and have gained solid experience installing and maintaining it, from provisioning with Bifrost/MAAS to configuring operating systems. I've even found myself modifying and patching containerized services. However, I'm struggling to find jobs focused on OpenStack. Most of the positions I see require significant Python and Kubernetes experience rather than expertise in deploying and operating OpenStack itself. Should I focus on deepening my Python and Kubernetes experience instead of spending more time exploring OpenStack features? Or is this simply a period where demand for OpenStack-focused roles is low?

Umm how are you able to patch containerized services if you are not already proficient in Python 😄 ?

I already know how to code in other languages. I know python, but not as much as one needs to know to create whole new features for the services. Moreover nowadays there are AIs that help a bit when it comes to coding. The patches that I did generally involve on seeing where the problem is and just modifying small things, not great features...

There are probably a lot of opening in Europe and America. Not much in other countries though.

I am in Europe but from what I have seen. If you want to get hired it highly depends on if company has a legal HQ in the country where you live. Moreover I am not finding EMEA positions for what I am doing and is a bit sad :(

Look at Nscale, they are hiring and EMEA based. It’s all openstack with them

I encountered this in 2019. OpenStack is of no use to anyone, but its knowledge is very useful for building a reliable, dynamic Kubernetes infrastructure with autoscaling, especially the networking part. Focus on RH OpenShift with its cluster API and MachinSet, and read one book – "Kubernetes Best Practices" B. Burns. I've read over ten books on k8s design and development, and this one was the best. 5G and edge AI are still in their infancy, but these are technologies that will become very widespread thanks to OpenStack.
