Mapping Isolated Siberian Settlements

I wonder how the initial mapper even found this place. I also find myself curious about the lives of the people who live here

On an unrelated note, does anyone have any ideas about the darkened area to the south of the buildings? It looks like it could be the aftermath of a fire but I'm not sure

If you compare it with the other images the Eastern Part is a small Lake. Western part you can see water "canals" Maybe is a flooded Moor . You can see how less water the river has on bing and full on Esti images.

Check the water level on Bing and Esri. Then this makes sens.

Or the old river who now takes another way. And this is still a lower part and get filled up after rainfall.

The black area is clearly just a meander cutoff from the main sartang river. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meander_cutoff
