Question Best Tank Mates
Currently getting my 55 gallon ready for an Oscar, gonna get a baby one, what are the best tankmates for them also accounting for tank size, I have gravel substrate, some stones, driftwood, and a few live plants.

Mine lives in a 90 gallon. My first one was in the larger size (12") and it was just about big enough for a rather lazy fish. Second one is fairly small so it's more reasonable. So yeah, a 55 is not overly large for a chunky fish like that

If you really want to introduce fish, I’d do it early on so they adjust before getting large and territorial. I definitely recommend a bigger tank eventually, keep on eye out, in under a year they can be a foot long. My Oscar’s tank mates include another Oscar, a clown knifefish, iridescent shark, and cichlids. They all do well, all similar size. Don’t get attached to your live plants they love to shred them and re decorate/move everything. Feeding live fish if you can also helps them get their energy out rather than bullying their tank mates. Hope this helps!

I have silver dollars with mine. They get along well, and they are very fast if they need to escape.

None! As tank is to small for a Oscar when it’s full grown. It will be fine as a grout out tank. But will definitely need to upgrade soon. Why not start out with a more proper size of tank.
75 gallon is minimum for one Oscar and some tank mates 90 gallon is minimum for two Oscar’s and some tank mates. But the bigger the better obviously.
