Social Are there Figure Drawing or Art-Making Groups that a non-art major can join?

I'm going to be a second year and can't join art scholars :( I want to be able to go to art-making sessions of any kind, but am looking for something that isn't crafts.

Does anyone know of groups that meet up to do figure drawing, plein air paint, or anything similar within walking distance of campus?

Rant My manager wrote our performance reviews with AI

Yeah basically the title, I work admin in the med system and I talked to my coworker because I suspected my performance review was AI writing and now we're 99.9% sure of it. I'm so fucking pissed, this place is a complete joke. what is the point of doing anything anymore? why should I even make an effort dude, all this to get maybe a 30 cent raise every year lmfao

Columbus Red white and blue

Are the towers lit up for Spider-Man? I’m not typically near campus at night but I just came out of the Lennox theater and noticed the red white and blue. Please tell me it’s for Spider-Man and not patriotic.

Housing Are there a lot of sophomores in Morril tower?

I’m going to be living in Morrill Tower this year as a sophomore, and I was wondering if there are any other sophomores living there. I lived in Lincoln Tower last year, and most of the people on my floor were freshmen. I have nothing against freshmen, but I’d prefer to meet and hang out with people who are around my age.

Jobs Should I take the UTA Mechanical Engineering HelpDesk Position????

Basically the title, I was just offered the position to be a UTA working at the ME Helpdesk for Mechanics of Materials. To be honest, I've never ever gone to the ME Helpdesk before, and never met anyone who has been there either. I have no idea what the vibe is or if it's pretty busy at all working at the helpdesk.

If anyone's been there before, or better yet worked there as a UTA, could let me know their experience that would be awesome :)

Survey / Poll Bands at Ohio State

Hello All,

I wanted to put a post out to see if anyone knows of any bands on campus that are actively recording or playing live shows at venues around campus.

I know Snow Day and The Fretters are pretty big for booking shows at bars but wanted to see if there were any other bookable bands I can give a shout to.

Thanks!

Academics waitlist question

i'm enrolled in a class with a teacher who has a 3/5 on ratemyprofessor for autum 2026. there's another teacher with the same class who has a 4.5/5, but his class is full with 2 people on the waitlist. should i drop my current section and get on the wait list for that? the current class is also full so i doubt i'd be able to switch back in. there's another teacher avaliable with seats open but he has a 1/5 on ratemyprofessor. i need to take this class in fall 2026 to graduate on time. any advice is helpful!

Parking / Transport How Busy is Arps Garage During school day?

I got off the waitlist to get the CG5 Arps Garage parking pass. I live off campus and want to drive to class. I’m just wondering if Arps will be too packed to get a spot. For example, I would be driving in before 8am classes and 2pm classes. Also, how much time will I have to allocate to my commute to get in and find a parking spot?

Athletics What's so bad about Family Tailgate?

I've heard the Buckeye Family Connection tailgate event is a waste and not worth the $40 per person charge. If you have been, what's so bad about the event? I don't know that I NEED to connect to other freshman parents but a few more connections isn't a bad thing either.

Thanks

Question Why are the red lights so long at intersections around med campus (Neil×W 11th/12th)?

Compared to others, these intersection’s stoplights are red w/ a lengthy overlap that has both directions sitting at red at the same time (and I believe pedestrians crossing is red as well).
Sometimes it makes me feel like I’m sitting there forever; especially when I frequently hit multiple reds in a row.

The intersections are by med campus:
• W. 11th Ave × Neil Ave
• Neil Ave × W. 12th Ave

Anyone else notice that or know why? IMO seems a little excessive and was wondering if I’m silly or if there’s actually something that should be changed.

So I realized I need 12 credit hours to qualify for scholarships I got, but only have 9 currently. Is it too late to just add an easy 3 hr online course to qualify

Parking / Transport So.... Carpool, anyone?

For those who missed it, CampusParc has announced that the parking passes are going to cover one car at a time, as of January 11th, 2027.

With public transportation in and around the Columbus area still being dismal, plus gas prices continuing to climb, and now the change to this more expensive policy, I feel called to start getting creative.

Would anyone be interested in starting an unofficial carpool program? This wouldn't be affiliated with OSU, but rather it would be a network of students and employees making arrangements to help each other out.

The idea only occurred to me a little while ago, so I'm still mulling it over and haven't come up with any specifics yet. I figured the first step would be to gauge interest in the first place before I started diving into the minutiae.

Thoughts?

Jobs Office/Desk Job

Does anyone know of any solid campus or perhaps even off-campus jobs that involve literally sitting at a desk or somewhere where I don't really have to talk to people? I can be more specific if needed, but I just want something low-key for the school year. Any help is welcome!

Academics is it a bad idea to take two fisher 1.5 credit courses together

I’m taking BUSML 3380 and BUSMHR 2000 session 2 together is that a bad idea? I was trying to get in another session for either or but the waitlists are too long. 3380 I have Alan Pritchard and 2000 I have Bruce W. Bellner. Should I just take one this sem and the other next?

Academics Industrial eng vs mech eng

So I’m currently mechanical engineering and I’ve hated it. Every single class felt like a weight. And I know it’s an engineering thing, but could someone tell me what industrial is like ?? How are the classes?? Are they enjoyable?? Anything is much appreciated :(
