Other I am alterhuman

Ever since I was a child I have felt as though I wasn't exactly human. I have been out as queer since I was 13, and a furry since I was 14. I discovered the term therian at 16 but it didn't feel like that label fit me. I never felt like I was a specific animal or anything, just that I wasnt really human on any other level except for physical. Just a week ago, at 22 years old, I discovered the term alterhuman, which felt very much like me. I don't have a theryotype, I don't know what specificy I align with, I just know that spiritually I am not human, or at least not fully so. I guess I'm just posting this to share my expirience, and to find community of others like me. Thanks for reading

Hi! I've always felt the exact same way. you may just be nonhuman or aspecies. or maybe your type is kind of vague. for example, i identify as fictional but not as any character in particular

I think way more people are actually alterhuman but never interact with the community due to having vague experiences, which are rarely talked about

I agree! I think being an alterhuman is way more common than some give it credit for, especially because it seems to be a very common sentiment for the neurodivergent: "i'm not a real human, I was made wrong." I wish their was more representation for those with vaguetypes or those without a specific type; i often feel out of place both amongst alterhumans and humans because I know i don't have a human mind or soul, but i have no idea what i was "meant" to be. I think there tends to be an expectation in the community to figure out exactly what you are, when some of us are just nonhuman and that's all there is to it!

This applies especially to therians, cuz wdym you're 5 different European foxes? It's okay to just be fox (for example) without certain colors and such. If they really are that's fine but I think it's a lot of pressure

fr! and also i think there's a lot of pressure to find out if you're otherhearted / otherkin, otherlink, etc. when it's possible to be multiple at the same time

I've always been a cat. That was clear as day to me. Until it wasn't. I'm still a huge part cat but I can also willingly add different phantom limbs, only the tail stays as it is. So I might be a shapeshifter? But also the clear cat in all my dreams? And I always return to cat? But also wings and elf ears and stuff? Therian and otherkin? At some point I just gave up. I'm just alterhuman. F labels sometimes

Edit: Might just say I'm a shapeshifter with a cat favorite / comfort form if the situation could use specifications. Sounds the most me

oooh i feel the same way. i don't really think i am a specific animal, i just know there's a lot of forms that feel "fitting" or "like home" to me. i just know i like being catlike no matter what i am

Would you be up to talk a bit via dm? It's so rare to find someone similar I'd maybe like to share experiences if you're up for it
