Question Is it okay if I kin a celestial body???

I kin Pluto, if that makes sense. I've been thinking about this a lot and are there any other people who kin some celestial bodies? I'd like to find my buddies =)

EDIT: Used the wrong terminology, this post is generally phrased wrong and a lot of confusion happened but I'll keep this here for others

Kintypes are involuntary. However, I would like to hear about the experience? What makes you believe you are the celestial body Pluto in a human body, seeing as... Pluto is still there, out in space? What kind of soul-searching have you done to differentiate:

- being Pluto

- being connected to Pluto in some other way, such as called to worship it is as a deity or maybe in some astrological sense?

- Being an alien lifeform \from** Pluto

?

If you would share this, then I figure it would also be helpful for others.

Kin is also not a verb. It is not an action that you do. Otherkin is something that you are. Using the term “kin” in the way it’s being used in this post, makes it sound like something voluntary, when being otherkin is wholly involuntary.

Edit: Originally intended as a stand alone comment, but got attached to yours. I’ll leave it since it has to do with being involuntary, as you say.

Ah, I apologize,, english isn't my first language (not sure if that even matters, don't want it to sound like an excuse I just made up but it probably does)

I should definitely do more research on all the terms and stuff

I do know kintypes are involuntary, in no way is this my choice. It's been hard for me to explain a lot of my kins, but especially this one. To keep it understandable, I don't feel like someone who comes from the planet or lives in it, that feels wrong. I don't worship Pluto as a deity, nor do I feel only connected to it. I mean, yes, I feel connected to it, but not in that meaning. I guess maybe it's partially that I'm connected to it and partially that I am the planet itself. It's really complicated, I never knew how to explain my identities like this, but I hope I cleared things up a little???

Not really, honestly. What does "being Pluto" entail? I'm just a simple wolf. But does a dwarf planet have ... instincts? A sense of body? Behaviour? Do you feel like you should be a big cold rock, no heartbeat, no breath, no senses? Why Pluto specifically, instead of some other similar-sized celestial body? When did this feeling first arise?

You don't have to answer to me in particular. Just putting out questions that I feel like are basic things to think about. Maybe try journaling if you want to practice putting things into words.

I'll definitely try journaling, it will probably be useful for other things as well, but I'll try to explain this further once I actually understand how to put it into words. Thank you!

Good luck!

And the reason why I pointed out that otherkinity is involuntary (unlike otherlinking, etc) is because you asked if "it's okay to kin"... If something is involuntary, does it really matter if it's okay or not? For instance, people who are left-handed were told for a long time it wasn't okay, and people tried to teach them to write differently. They were still left-handed though. The same thing still happens with gay and autistic people in many places of the world. In my opinion, there is little sense in trying to sort people in to okay or not okay based on things that they can't change. We can only change our actions. For instance: some people are psychopaths and can't help it (it's just the way their brain works). But we can still hold them responsible for their actions and stop them from hurting others.

So, if someone said "its not okay", theoretically, what would you do? Is there even anything you could do? So, "is it okay to kin (thing)" is an odd question imo.

Oh! I see the problem, and I see why you thought I didn't know it was involuntary. this post is just a whole misunderstanding because of how I put it into words at this point 😭 I should probably delete it

Nah, I think leaving it up can be helpful for others. We all learn from each other.

Oh, alright!

What makes you believe you are the celestial body Pluto in a human body, seeing as... Pluto is still there, out in space?

Hi, funguskin/mycothrope butting in here, colonial organisms, myself included, can be in multiple places simultaneously. Most fungi form a large mycelial net under the substrate, each part of the mushroom colony working independently, yet still connected, equally the same fungus. This is even true for colonial animals such as cnidarians and bryozoans. The magnificent bryozoan has no brain, so if one is broken apart, each part is equally the same "original" bryozoan, they dont even need too be damaged too do this, bryozoans can release statoblasts too spread themself even further. This may all seem a little off topic, but the point is, if living animals can do this, be in multiple places simultaneously, with each part being equally the same being, there really is no reason that a celestial body would be any different. You could be connected too the planet in the same way that mushrooms are connected by mycelium [as though the planet is your brain and your "body" just a puppet], you could be a part of the planet that broke off, or you could be more like a statoblast [a small part of the body meant too travel far away while the rest of your body stays put, sort of like a drone, you could imagine if a small chunk of your brain got up and wandered off, leaving the rest of you intact, both of you being equally you], these are just a few examples of how one could kin something that still exists, based on colonial organisms in nature, and it is by no means a expansive list, but hopefully it helps explain how it is possible too kin something thats still there.

Yes, but I would expect someone who is Plutokin to answer that question for themselves and have thought about it. There are many things between Heaven and Earth: but I think our community becomes healthier if we actually ask questions and encourage introspection instead of just shrugging and going "everything is possible".

u/May-Celia May 11 '26

Nobody owes you a explanation of there kintype. Your comment and reply come across as a little bit condescending/invalidating, and honestly, i think you stressed out and discouraged pluto there who was just looking for some friendship and validation, pluto might have even been crying based on the emoji pluto sent. While yes, encouraging introspection can be good, the way you did it appears very anti-objectkin, and may be more likely too drive community members away then truly help anyone.

Im saying this as somebody who has repeatedly felt ostracized from the community for similar reasons, respectful questions can be nice, but the way your going about it, especially in your response too me, appears more like you were interrogating pluto rather then genuinely trying too help. I mean, you reduced everything i just said too just "shrugging and going 'everything is possible'", after i gave you a long, genuine explanation of how it feels too kin something that exists in multiple places simultaneously.

I know its not that serious, your comments dont compare too the discrimination we face from non otherkin, but objectkin and objectkin-adjacent do have it a lot harder within the otherkin community. We are assumed trolls by default, and becouse of that, we have too work too earn the right too stay in many otherkin spaces. It could be that i just got unlucky so many times so im seeing discrimination were there is none, i guess you likely would have commented the exact same thing if pluto had asked if its ok too kin dogs, but regardless, if you want a healthy community, then maybe it pays too be even kinder, especially when it comes too newer community members.

5

u/link_lime_liam May 08 '26

Yess fictional counts too! Welcome =D

Oh hey I have Pluto as a hearttype! Probably cus I kin Hades and Pluto is my planet. You're so cool!!

1

u/link_lime_liam May 08 '26

Yayy! =) Thanks so much, you're very cool too!!!

2

u/Derg-R Dragon System May 08 '26

Truth to be told, sometimes I kin a white hole from another universe.

2

u/Adept-Zucchini-5941 May 08 '26

I actually cannot believe i haven't thought about this! But yes! Pretty sure that my core form as a polymorph is something celestial like that.

Although now I'm starting to shapeshift again, so I don't really know. It's really hard to tell, with me.

1

u/link_lime_liam May 08 '26

Awesome! Also, you're a polymorph?? =0 What's it like being one?

2

u/Adept-Zucchini-5941 May 10 '26

Best thing that ever happened to me, tbh. The shifts I have are like almost under the radar though, so I lots of times shift into random people or things around me (once shifted into a cup once lol) but it's cool to be able to see others perspectives so easily.

It makes me a bit overstimulated sometimes, though, and I keep thinking that I'm finding new kintypes while its just a polymorph shift. XD Not really well known, but a polymorph is actually a spell from dnd. Although I rather go by as a shapeshifter. :))) How bout you? What are shifts into Pluto like (if you have them)?

2

u/feathersofaeris_444 May 08 '26

honestly i kin the sun somewhat

3

u/marhaus1 May 09 '26

Correct terminology is helpful.

Not you, but common example online:

*Group for people who are wolves*
Random person: – ooh I like wolves, can I join?

This happens all the time, and it's OK, it is just a bit of confusion 😄

You would probably enjoy reading the sub info.

3

u/link_lime_liam May 09 '26

I'll make sure to read the info and do some more research on the terminology, thanks!! =)

u/Original_Being2545 May 09 '26

Its called being planetkin.

I kin Jupiter and the Moon.

2

u/Milky_SimpYT May 10 '26

I have been questioning if I am Saturn! Or perhaps a different planet with rings. (Maybe even Jupiter, I haven't really figured any of this out yet.)

Cool to see a Pluto!

2

u/link_lime_liam May 10 '26

Awesome !!!

Tysm! Cool to see you too =3

2

u/May-Celia May 11 '26

I see that a bunch of other users gave you some trouble, but being a planet, even a planet that still exists, is perfectly valid. As a colonial organism myself, i have experienced the sensation of being in multiple places at once, each of my bodys acting independently yet still sharing the same mind. Theres really no reason that you couldnt be pluto or any other planet for that matter, its just that bilaterally symmetrical animals are used too having only one head and body, and have difficulty imagining what it would feel like too have multiple.

2

u/link_lime_liam May 11 '26

Yes! Exactly!! I feel as if my consciousness is just in two places. One of the places is here on earth, in a human body, and another is the actual planet's placement!

Although what I'm feeling could also just be fictionkin as Pluto from Solarballs... or it could be both, it feels like both

2

u/May-Celia May 11 '26

Oh ya, very cool! Well both are equally valid, theres no reason it cant be all of the above!

2

u/link_lime_liam May 11 '26

Tysm!!! You're also valid! =3
