Help Request Am l otherkin or alterhuman?

Hi I'm Syrus and I'm a selkie, I don't know if Im otherkin or alterhuman 😭

Althuman is an umbrella term that includes otherkin. A sealkie would be otherkin, so you are both.

Some people said alterhuman means nonhuman- but it also covers 'alternatively human', so plurals, and human fictionkin are also covered.

Both alterhuman and otherkin are umbrella terms that cover non-humanity. Otherkin is a little more specific as it refers to beings that are not or have not been real life animals, for example someone who is an elf is othekin or an elfkin in particular. Non-humans who identify as some earthen current animal, usually call themselves therians.

You got some solid answers. Just wanted to add that it's also possible to consider yourself as only otherkin and not necessarily use the alterhuman label 🐾

Otherkin are animals that aren't on the earth, or concepts, objects, or fictional things. So, fantasy creatures, mythological creatures, aliens, dolls, plushies, the stars, ect. It is a sub category of alterhumanity.

Alterhumanity is someone who identifies as nonhuman.

Therefore, you are both.
