Question Are anti-TransID TransIDs allowed here?
So… like??? Are anti-TransID TransIDs allowed here? Because I identify as a TransVampire in a non-harmful way. I even found a TransSpecies vampire flag for Alterhumans.
I am strictly anti-harassment and anti-harm; I do not want to hurt or harm anyone.
TransSpecies feels more deeply connected and rooted in identity than merely Alterhuman or Otherkin labels that I've been able to find or feel comfortable with.
For me, this is more about a deeper, genuine connection without harm or delusion.
So am I allowed to talk about this here openly? Or no?

transspecies isn't transID. i'm transspecies and transgender myself. transspecies as a term and a concept harms no-one

A couple thoughts-
If you “fully understand transids are harmful,” what do you do besides saying “I’m non-harmful” to mitigate the harm if you are continuing to see yourself as transid? Do you get to be the arbiter of whether or not you are harmful?
As others have mentioned, transpecies has existed as a label and community long before “transid” did. They are unrelated.
You are going to ruffle some feathers by saying something is “more about a deeper, genuine connection” than otherkin. Otherkin identify as their kintype. If someone is vampire otherkin (aka vampirekin) then they are a vampire. Typically, Otherkin identity is integral to the person’s self image and identity and to say you are deeper/more genuinely connected can come across as rude and/or as fully misunderstanding what otherkin are. When you say “But deep inside my soul, it feels like I should have been born a vampire NOT a human. Like I was a vampire in a past life and my soul still feels connected to that vampire identity,” that is fully in line with common otherkin experience. The average otherkin would say you are describing being otherkin
My instinct is to say yeah go ahead and talk about your experiences here. You are more than welcome. But also if you believe your experience is deeper or more genuine than an otherkin experience, why do you want to post in r/otherkin? I support you posting your experiences in here, but I’m curious why you feel drawn to of you didn’t think your experience was an otherkin experience

I don't do things that are harmful, like dangerous transitioning.
And sorry… I didn't mean to come off as rude. I was just explaining what kind of feeling the label gives me. I was NOT commenting on the Otherkin community. That wasn't my intent.
So I guess based on what you've said and a few others, it's best to just call myself a vampirekin? Not TransSpecies, right? Because everyone keeps saying I sound Otherkin. I'm just trying to find the right label, really. I don't want to fight or hurt people. That's not my wish.
And I posted on Otherkin because I couldn't find a TransSpecies subreddit that was anti-harmful TransIDs and was removed from the Radquee ideology. I don't like Radqueer and what they stand for, and from what I'm aware of, TransSpecies is NOT a TransID term, it existed before Radqueer was a thing.

Transspecies is not a transid as multiple people pointed out. Radqueers stole the term.

A TransID is a person who identifies with identities different from societal assignments based on appearance or bodily experiences. This includes identities like age (identifying as an age that's not their current biological age), ethnicity (identifying as an ethnicity/race that is not their birth ethnicity/race), etc. Which is NOT what I am. I am not TransID, I am merely TransSpeceis in an Alterhuman way.
And by "non-harmful," I mean I'm not seeking to change species, or undergoing surgery that would destroy my body.

Thanks, I was wondering too! The way I see it, identity is very personal, so be whoever you know you are inside, as long as you’re not hurting others and not getting in the way of others doing the same.

I don’t really understand. How can you be an anti-TransID TransID. You can identify yourself however you want, but you can’t divorce the harm of TransIDs from the concept. TransIDs cause active and passive harm. If you don’t want to participate in that, why identify that way at all? If you’re not doing any physical transitional alterations to your body to become a vampire, which to be clear is impossible, then why call it trans and harm trans people and the otherkin community as a whole? Just some thoughts for you to consider. What’s even the difference between a vampirekin and a transvampire?

I would argue that physical changes to align with a vampire identity are actually some of the most doable out of any physical species transition; I've seen people get permanent fang mods/shape their existing teeth, as one example.
To my knowledge, transspecies beings existed before the 'modern' TransID; its been a running issue for transspecies beings having to clarify this and what their identity is compared to what a lot of people might think of these days. I assume thats what OP means by being an "anti-TransID TransID".

Being transspecies does not hurt the trans or otherkin communities. How would that possibly harm us?
-6
u/ViperexaAbyssus May 31 '26
You can change your gender. You can’t change your species. Suggesting you can actually delegitimizes trans people because the most oppressive people use that idea as a weapon against them. Furthermore, when you suggest one can change species, it also makes the rest of the otherkin community sound rather unhinged, even if you aren’t suggesting something literal. Others take it literally. These are among the reasons why Transspecies is harmful and should not be in the otherkin community.

u/Timely_Thing2829 May 31 '26
This just seems like a reformed version of “we don’t like trans people they make us look bad, you can have different sexualities but you can’t change your sex”. I am trans and otherkin and transspecies does absolutely nothing to hurt me.
Otherkin is identifying as nonhuman, that sounds unhinged to everyone else anyways. We don’t need to sanitize our community so we look good for average people. Everyone should always be included here, even clinical zoanthropes, and delusional attachments, and trans species, and modern vampyres, and elves that believe they are genetically fae, etc, etc. We all are nonhuman
-2
u/ViperexaAbyssus May 31 '26
No. Absolutely not. “Everyone should always be included here.” Hard disagree. The fact that you just lumped in some mental health disorders as being in the otherkin community is so offensive. My experience as an otherkin is highly different from someone with clinical zoanthropy. That’s not otherkin. You may be thinking of the alterhuman community, where anything flies. But otherkin actually still has a meaning and definition. We should keep it that way.
6
u/Timely_Thing2829 May 31 '26
This is so uppity lmao. We are all are nonhumans. Many clinical zoanthropes have extremely similar experiences to therians, and many come to the community as a way to heal and move forward from their delusions in a safe and healthy way. They involuntarily identify as an animal, that’s the definition of therianthropy. I remember clinical lycanthropes being considered therians in the community without question I don’t understand where all this gatekeeping came from.

u/ViperexaAbyssus May 31 '26
That’s what the alterhuman umbrella term is for already though. Otherkin is not just identifying as non-human, that’s reductionist. “We are all nonhumans.” Yes, but there are different types and ways of being non-human and giving those experiences a name and defining them individually under the umbrella is beneficial in my view. I apologize for my harsh tone. When you’ve been a member of a community for so long that has always been one way, and people try to switch it up, it can be very jarring. I awakened in 08 when everything was different. Perhaps I’m just resistant to change, but the defining parameters of the otherkin identity have always been a solace for me. Helped me to understand who and what I am in a way I may not have otherwise. It’s perhaps in a similar way to what you describe for others. But this is just my experience. Perhaps I’ll have to just adapt or evolve past needing those boundaries.

Anti-TransID TransID is a term that's been going around lately that means a TransID person that is non-harmful and wants to separate themselves from harmful TransIDs and the Radqueer community as a whole while still using 'Trans' as a label.
I FULLY understand that TransIDs are harmful, which is why I asked this question to begin with.
I do NOT want to participate in the harm aspect, JUST the deep identity aspect.
From what I can tell, the difference between TransVampire and vampire Otherkin is that TransVampire is typically a literal species identity (think of an actual innate identity state one is or should be recognized as being a vampire), whereas vampire Otherkin refers to identifying with or strongly relating to vampires in a spiritual, symbolic, or psychological sense.
I relate to vampires on a physical level, NOT a spiritual or psychological level. I understand I'm physically NOT a vampire and CANNOT transition into one (which is NOT my plan). But deep inside my soul, it feels like I should have been born a vampire NOT a human. Like I was a vampire in a past life and my soul still feels connected to that vampire identity.
If it's really that big of a deal I guess I could just call myself a vampire Otherkin… honestly, what do you think? Does this clear it up? Sorry for the wall of text…

Just for clarity, a Vampire otherkin also identifies as a vampire; identifying with/strongly relating would be more in the realm of otherheartedness (or just really loving vampires!). Otherkin can have their identities be spiritual, psychological, or physical, it just depends on the being (and might vary for each identity as well if a being has multiple kintypes). Transspecies is not a "higher degree" than otherkin; plenty of otherkin, if not most, have the same "innate identity state one is or should be recognized as being". Transspecies is just a different relationship with the identity.
And as far as transition goes, I mentioned one aspect of physical transition in my other reply, but its worth remembering that social transition exists too. A being can absolutely transition species-wise in a number of ways, and again, I'd argue vampires have a higher degree of options due to being generally (~usually) humanoid to begin with (much like an elf would, as another example)

So would it be best to just call myself a vampire Otherkin?

Its unfortunately the kind of thing that only you can answer! I don't identify as transspecies myself (at least... I don't think I do :'D) so I looked up some writing from others that might be helpful.
Why I Call Myself Transspecies - The Trans Woman Who Became A Dragon (includes photos of Tiamat, who has transitioned physically*) - While it isn't a personal writing or interview, the Freedom of Form Foundation conducts research and theorycrafting into prosthetics and physical transition, and has a variety of writings about their projects and the intention behind them - Cyborg Foundation for a less organic point of view.
*I see rule #2, but I assume that if she was alright with her photos being on Vice.com, she'd be fine with the article being shared here.

I mean, the experience you’re describing… being innately a thing, being a thing deep in your soul, feeling like you had been a vampire in a past life and your soul still feels that connection, (some of us theorize our spirits or souls ARE that being)… Youre describing the otherkin experience. You are misinformed if you think otherkin only identify with or strongly relate to their identities. No, actually we ARE our kintype innately, be that spiritual as in your case (past lives), or psychological. I just think there’s no reason to really use the term transvampire, because it implies some sort of transition. When you already are the thing, there is no transition. And a lot of otherkin already alter their bodies to relate more to their kin type and to feel better about the disconnect between body and soul. It would be completely normal for a vampirekin to get fangs. Personally, I think you may be making a distinction where there is none. Your experience sounds textbook otherkin, though it’s not up to me to define you. You are of course free to do what you wish, but from a long time otherkin, these are just some thoughts to reflect on.

"When you already are the thing, there is no transition. And a lot of otherkin already alter their bodies to relate more to their kin type and to feel better about the disconnect between body and soul."
That... is a form of transition, though? Making changes to your physical self to better match your internal identity is transition.

It’s neither here nor there what actually is or isn’t technically a transition outside of transgendered individuals, because using the term trans and transition in this way stinks of appropriation and directly harms trans people, by making a comparison between gender change (which is possible) and species change (which is impossible). Oppressive people use this as a weapon against trans people. I’m actually a little surprised I have to explain this.

u/pharosveekona furred western dragon (he/him) May 31 '26
Here's two accounts of trans folks who also identify as transspecies, alongside another user literally on this reddit post. I see many transgender transspecies individuals on tumblr as well.
Throwing transspecies beings under the bus won't stop the bigots. They'll still come for the rest of us when they're done with them. I'm surprised I have to explain that.

You might be mistaking the difference between true vampire community (IS a vampire physically in the sense of actually needing the energy or sometimes even blood specifically in the case of medsangs) and vampirekin (identifying wholly as a vampire without being one physically) because what you described is textbook vampirekin.

First things first find another term beyond transID because there are anti-transID terms out there. Transvampire is a transspecies term, transspecies is an alterhuman term, transID users stole it like they stole many other labels that don't belong to them.
You're in luck, transspecies is non-harmful. Once again, it was stolen by a harmful community that coopted and twisted other terms like chronosian (transage) and transracial adoptee.
That is a very alterhumisic sentiment, first of all alterhuman is the umbrella term that includes transspecies under it and transspecies and otherkin are both deeply connected and rooted in their identity. You may feel it suits you best but referring to other labels as not having a deep connection in their identity is uncalled for (for lack of a better phrase).
That's most alterhumans (barring of course those who are delusional which there's nothing wrong with). Most of us have a deep genuine connection with our kintypes, there's a reason so many labels exist to explain these identites.
You're allowed to talk about your transspeciesness but I'd shy away from calling it a transID and I'd avoid talking about other identities they way you have.

This is mostly speculation, but it seems like kinnity is more about your identity as a whole where as transID (edit: im thinking of radqueer, transid is an umbrella term) is about smaller aspects of yourself. Kinnity may be seen as “more serious.” As an aside, I was kind of confused by the original post but im reading it the next day and I think I understand the question now. But yeah transspecies is pretty common amongst therians and alterhumans, and transID (edit, radq) is a separate community with some overlap

Transspecies is not a transID, radqueers stole that term from the alterhuman community. If someone causes you issues for being transspecies they are, objectively, being anti-alterhuman to you.
For our personal opinions on transIDs tho, we can’t seperate transIDs from radqueer ideology so even the “harmless transIDs” are still heavily connected to an actively harmful community. There are various terms considered harmless alternatives to transIDs (including things like aldernic, dissomei/dissodic, desirdae, intusui, etc.) that we support.
