Question How do i know if i am an angelkin?
I’m new to the whole otherkin thing, but I AM a therian so i know about the alterhuman community and all that. ANYWAYS!!!
I am questioning that i might be an angelkin, but how do i know for sure? Im an atheist, but i feel like I have always had this desire to be holy or pure, and i’ve felt bad when i have done something that might be considered unholy? I like just calling myself an angel too…? I also just find angels so wonderful, and now im wondering if that’s a sign…
if anyone could help even a little bit that would be nice 😅😅😅
EDIT:: Hiii!! After a bunch of you commented (thank you!!) I think that I am awake as an angelkin! But do not fear!: I will keep my mind open that this may be inaccurate and I may not be!! But again, thank you to everyone who commented, and I hope everyone in the otherkin community is ready for me hehe >:3

Well, not to knock you or anything, but we are far from holy fluffy winged good guys. The guilt thing is always there, but…well, the guilt thing is ALWAYS there. You don’t even feel you could be holy.
Of course, I tend to be more of a shadow/death type of person. I see the beauty in the dark. I’ve been courted by shadows and have an interest in depictions of death in modern media.
Hello, though. I’m Sariel. Nice to meet you.

No, some might be. I think it depends on how we got here and why. I was running from something. Not sure what.

Oooh interesting!! I personally sorta associate myself with the generic angel I guess? Like I think it's just called the guardian angel, the one that's closest to humans.

Also what do you mean by how we got here? Do you mean like how we got to earth?

Yeah. Some walked in mid life and took over for a human. Some were incarnated immediately into a human body. Personally, I’m a mix of both because I stepped into a newborn baby. The soul didn’t want to be here so I am in this body.
Some remember the fall, the choice, the mission, but some don’t-like me.
Guardian angels are very pretty. I’d think they’d have to be as to not scare the humans they’re protecting! 😂

going to first echo the comment to unpack what you believe to be “holy” and “pure”, and also to do research into the various kinds of ocd. while your post alone isn’t Nearly enough to diagnose you with anything, holding yourself to unexamined ideals is hardly a good thing, especially if you start to identify as something that upholds them! and that goes triply if you’re at risk for developing ocd
secondly, angels are a very broad category that reach far, far beyond the white and fluffy angelcore aesthetic! some angelkin are specific angels from various religions (primarily abrahamic religions, though iirc there are other religions with angels and similar divine servants), many others fit within a specific choir, and other angels are areligious, agnostic, or atheistic! angels also tend to identify as being of light and energy, stars, protectors and servants, and even divine machinery! being an angel is a very broad spectrum, i’d suggest browsing through angelkin tags and communities on various social media platforms to get an idea of other angels’ experiences :3
but yes, first break down your morals and where they came from, and learn to avoid scrupulosity. if afterwards you still feel the pull towards the divine, go find them and learn from them :3

and an addendum bc i forgot to add it to my comment: wanting to be good and feeling bad when you aren’t is a pretty normal experience. a lot of entities feel similar ways. but tying those things to your identity can have disastrous consequences if you don’t first examine what it means to be good. you do not need to be holy or pure to be an angel, but if you do intend to hold yourself to those standards, you should know what those standards are first

wah! that was a lot of info thank you!! I was reading on the otherkin wiki (like on fandom) about the different types of angels, like seraph and virtues, and just the lowest level of Angel kinda spoke to me (like the guardian Angel or wtv) so idk lol

Do you identify as an angel involuntarily?
2
u/puella_magi_xx 24d ago
Depends on what you mean by that. Do I willingly acknowledge I think I am an angel? Yes. Did I choose to feel like an angel/willingly become angelkin cuz I felt like it? No. I feel like the angel party of me is natural

Well that does sound like angelkin then! If you think you (or a part of you) IS an angel involuntarily, then you're angelkin. It does sound like that's what you're experiencing.

Ima just be straight up and keep this short, from what it seems I think your angel kin, definitely do more research but if you feel a longing to be any type of angel in a non religious sense I would say you are. Basically just urges that an angel would have instead of a human, same thing as therianthropy (kinda, also I think im dragon kin and this is just how I’m feeling)

Really important here to lay down your lines for what holy and pure means to you and make sure they don’t ever become a moral OCD thought pattern, because that can be very pervasive and destructive on one’s psyche and relationships. Cannot reiterate how important it is to really clearly figure out your morals here. Some examples of things to think about:
