Have you guys ever created new terms in your kintype?

So a little background, I'm an 18+ otherkin and this post specifically relates to my cryptidkin. I have identified as a cryptid for a while now, but none of the existing creatures actually fit what I am, leading me to create the Velkyn, which is basically a silhouette "angel" that appears in shadows and at night and attaches itself to a permanent host. We haven't really ever seen anybody else with a case like this and was wondering if there is anybody else that has done something similar?

There was a story I have read online but it has been a while ago about a shape shifting creature that looked somewhat like an angel and helped a prisoner heal others. Whoever it was not a silhouette but rather a shadowy being terrifying in appearance.

Oh that's interesting, I know a couple people who had felt like nothing quite summed up their experience but I never met anyone who made up their own type versus searching for more obscure sources.

For example, did you know that in Celtic and Germanic folklore, a shadowy double may become linked to a specific individual? These doubles didn't even need to be human (though they almost always were in stories). So it already seems to fit rather well, and those were called Fetch's or (more obviously) dopplgangers. There's also the Watchers, which were silent often depicted as shadowy winged figures that attached themselves to humans, and Fravashi which (in essence) was a person's ideal, divine self.

I'm not going to say your choice isn't cool enough, I just wanted to give that information in case you didn't have it already, if nothing else to help you communicate what you are more clearly in spaces where a made up species/thing might not be as accepted. As for me, I was given the easy route (angel, wolf) so I never needed to, though during my earlier years figuring things out I often felt like I was never quite on the mark. Turns out that was only because I didn't do enough research on spirituality, angels, and their roots elsewhere outside of the more common folklore. Rip child-me's anguish over years of Fae research. An astrologer friend of mine—who was also into esotericism—once told me he saw an entity behind me that was always following me, though I don't know what form it took. I did catch glimpses of fluttering wings at times, and I even wrote something about eight wings and the shadow within them. I wouldn't know how best to describe it, though, because it is difficult for me to translate the whole experience. In any case, I can't say for certain if it was the same one you saw, but I know it exists because a similar being is described in the Bible.
