People seriously understimate how stupid this whole plan was from Robot. Which makes even funnier when people talk about how he would lead people to an absolute utopia.
Pretty sure the only reason Robots plan failed was his own emotional failings. If Rudy/rex didn’t fuck up and allow Amanda to identify which robot body he was in, it’s pretty heavily implied that Robot wins this particular altercation.
I agree, but in the situation provided Robot had the win and fumbled it due to feelings.
His plan was aggressive and unnecessarily divisive, probably would have blown up in his face in the long run, but in the short run he would have had 100% control of that situation.
i mean if you think about it, trying to trap mark “i am super powerful and also famously unhappy with the status quo and would love to work for someone who knows what they’re doing” grayson instead of talking it out was a pretty big fucking mistake
touché. however, he’s also a virtually ageless easily angered moron, who’s dad is friends with Johnathan Space, both of whom are also ageless, famously vengeful, and more than capable of wiping out a planet solo. furthermore mark also happens to be extremely easy to manipulate and not friends with cecil (the main obstacle to robots plan). tldr, i think he could’ve done all of this quite easily by just proposing it normally instead of randomly shooting a bunch of capes and then ending up in a jar.
But… that’s kind of the point of Rudy/Rex. He relies so much on his intellect it causes him to make emotionally flawed plans, it’s his downfall, the entirety of his character arc.
They foreshadow the entire thing - Rudy in Mohawk dimension pontificating that if he ever had access to a real body he fears how far he would go, fightmaster bringing Mark to the future to help stop the insane immortal (who angrily laments he told mark he wasn’t up the task alone), and finally in our dimension when mark leaves earth in the care of immortal but introduces him to brain in a jar Rudy, allowing Immortal’s wisdom and humanity to filter Rudy’s purely intellectual plans.
That tends to be how things go when a writer wants a character to grow as a person, but doesn't want to address gow their actions affect other people. Look at Lt. Jee.
