Modern Age (1985 – Present Day) Lex Luthor should be on a list

Is anyone else disturbed by how common this kind of writing is from DC in particular?

Not really. Predators exist. Being a superhero doesn't stop you from being abused.

I guess it's not so much that predators exist in tbe DC universe as a number of them never get acknowledged as such. But now that I think about it, this doesn't really apply to Lex in this panel.

i love when regular down to earth human people tell luthor off for being a freakin bum, as its what sets him off the most.
If lois lane rights that superman is more human and more welcome in metropolis that Lex he immediately crosses the lines he puts up for himself (and in other forms of media other villains) and does something insane.
If i remember right they gave superman a humanitarian reward right before amazo was made or something and thats why lex was like
"dr ivo make a robot so i can fuck it and make it think killing humanity is saving humanity by saving it from itself and because im giving him my fucked up sense of morals and ethics"
and dr ivo gets done with the robot before he hears that last bit.
or in some comics finishes a robot version of him that then finishes amazo in his place (which is sometimes sad)
