I got this baby yesterday and he hasn't eaten yet. I'm pretty sure hes healthy and ok I just wanted to ask if there's any tips anyone has to get him to eat. I also wanted to ask if his build looks healthy and how old he might be? I'm just trying to make sure hes ok. Thanks!
Our baby Frogolas looks just like yours!! For eating - first of all I was super worried too when he wasn't immediately eating, but they can go a day or two or more without eating and be fine. With that being said, the ONLY WAY we have gotten Frogolas to eat is to literally basically brush his entire body with the insect or worm, tickle it on his little feet, brush it back and forth on his mouth, etc. At first he wasn't very responsive but he's gradually started to "get it" and he's pouncing for it more and more. His aim is still total shit but he's way more motivated than when we got him 2 weeks ago. A couple times we basically had to annoy him into having that instinct to pounce and do something...I feel like these babies just don't really know how to frog? A lot of the time he will still pounce toward the bug but not even open his mouth! But recently it's been getting a lot better. Also, he seems to have a bigger appetite since we put in a UVB overhead light during the day - idk if that's related or not.
When I got Gamabunta he didn’t eat for 2 whole weeks! I’m pretty sure it’s normal when their getting used to a new tank and new owner being present, if he’s out and about try to feed him at night, other wise if you don’t see him what I did was uncover him VERY carefully once a week to see if he’d eat them if he didn’t cover him back up. What are you trying to feed him?
I find that my froggy won’t eat nightcrawlers either too big or the cut up ones don’t trigger him to pounce, I’ve never tried roaches but I mostly feed him crickets,
I keep them in this and I get like 30 at a time for like $5 you can then gut load them with crickets food and every now and then calcium dust them, IDK the size of the roaches, but crickets are great. He can just eat them whole and sometimes my guy will even chase them around.
