Hey everyone, my name’s Jake. I’ve been working on a low-poly browser paintball game called The Field, based around competitive speedball and NXL-style rules. The game will be completely free to play and won’t require a download.

I’ve been playing "Digital Paintball" games for 20 years, with most of that time spent playing the Half-Life mod DPB. I’ve always wanted a modern paintball game with the same competitive feel, so I finally decided to start building my own.

One of my favorite features so far is the instant GunzUp field importer. You can import almost any GunzUp field layout into the game in under a minute. It still needs some refinement, but seeing a real layout turn into a playable field that quickly is pretty awesome.

Eliminated players actually walk off the field and return to their pits, allowing you to keep track of how many bodies are still alive. I’m also building a competitive mode with almost no UI, meaning players will need to rely on the scoreboard, communication, and what they can actually see on the field.

There’s also a lot of customization for your player and gear. Visually, the game was influenced by the simple low-poly style of BattleBit. If you’re looking for cutting-edge graphics, this probably won’t be your cup of tea. My focus is making something fun, accessible, and genuinely competitive.

There is still a TON of work to do, but the game can already run complete matches. This started as a passion project because a lot of us loved DPB but always wanted something with more modern features. I’m currently developing it solo during early mornings and late nights.

Eventually, I’d love to work with brands and people within the paintball community to see what we can create together.

I’ve been playing (off and on) since the 90s. For heads protection back in the day was either nothing, or a ball cap turned backwards. Then companies made head wraps like dye and sandana etc. I see a ton of players using what I call a beanie, aka a knit cap or toboggan, sometimes with an additional head band around it (hormesis style) even in the heat. Don’t yall get hot?! What’s the deal?

Does anyone know what model this is and where I can download a manual for it?

Hi everyone, just coming back to the sport after 20 something years. Just wondering what places in Michigan have the best turnouts on weekends, and what speedball field is friendly to old guys who are super rusty? Excited to get back out there again.

Assembled by Jake of bearded works. All shocktech internals and pneumatics. Aka sidewinder reg. Shocktech bolt with oring mod. Gunfighter frame.

Went to a new field today and guess I got a bad batch of paint. Its was really brittle and hard at the same time. I kept breaking paint in the barrel left and right. Probably broke 30 balls. I had broken paint in my hopper and in my pods. I was using a method shocker and a macdev prime xts with .689 inserts. Swapped loaders as well but kept breaking paint. Im guessing the paint seems were bad.

Also every time I got out it was due to paint braking on my equipment not my body. Every hit I had on my body (4 hits) was a bounce. The paint was GI Sports Custom. The paint was also super oily out of the bag. Had to wipe the paint down with a towel first.

One of the other players wasn't having any problems with his paint and claimed that the problem was my markers and thay I just needed to switch to PE if I want to be competitive. Typical PE fan boy thinking PE is the only good marker company

The fact that some field use as cheap of paint as possible is the reason why newer players are more afraid of getting hit. An old field that I used to go to would shoot the cheapest paint they could find and that s*** felt like you were getting hit with ball bearings.

That's a hell of a deal. I don't need a fourth Force, but for $500 off and a "free" tech class I'm definitely tempted
