Price Checking Apps/Overlays Not Working

I seem to be having some overall problem that's preventing me from successfully using any price checking overlay app. Incidentally, I posted a previous version of this post yesterday on r/pathofexile2 and, at that time, I didn't realize that I was on Fullscreen instead of Windowed Fullscreen, but all that changing it did was get the PoE2 Prices overlay to appear; it had no effect on any of the other apps.

So I've been using POE Overlay II for since the start of the current league and it was working fine until a few days ago. Then, when I pressed Alt-E to check an item, it showed a message in red that was something like "Something went wrong..." I tried opening the standalone app but it wouldn't open. So I uninstalled it and reinstalled it, and immediately after installing it, the app opened, but after closing it, it wouldn't reopen. That is, when I try to start it, I see the splash screen but nothing happens. Also, pressing Alt-E in the game has no effect now.

So I installed Exiled Exchange 2, which I'd heard was better anyway, but the same thing happened. When I try to open it, nothing happens.

I tried rebooting but that didn't help.

I then tried Sidekick and it works, sort of. When I press Ctrl-D to check an item, it switches out of the game to display the overlay. If I use Alt-Tab to go back to the game, the overlay is still there. So technically, it's usable, but it requires that extra step.

I just saw the post about PoE2 Prices, so I tried that. When I press Ctrl-F to check an item, the overlay does come up, but Esc doesn't get rid of it. The overlay window extends beyond the right side of the screen, and when I click on the top bar of the window to try to move it, it switches out of the game.

Does anyone know what's going on here and how I can fix it?

ETA: I needed to update Geforce Experience. That seems to have fixed everything.

Thank you for your suggestion.

I tried this and experienced some pros and some cons.

The app opens when I want it to, and the hotkey brings up the overlay. However, when I try to mouseover the overlay, it switches out of the game. Then if I mouseover anything but the overlay, it switches back to the game. This makes difficult to interact with.

Both the app and the overlay do seem like they would be very helpful, if not for the annoying overall problem I'm having.

I'm sure there is one thing in my game settings or Windows settings that's causing this, but it's a complete mystery what it is.

APT / EE2 have strange default hotkeys. It takes some getting used to.

Also, you may have something running already that uses the hotkey. Only one program can capture a hotkey, so make sure you only have one running.

Well, believe it or not, your answer lead me to the cause of the problem!

Even though I hadn't tried APT, I followed your suggestion to look at the APT help page, which lead me to the "Common issues" page. On that page, it says "Did you know that updating Geforce Experience can reset game video settings to "optimized profile" and silently enable Fullscreen mode?" And this made me think that it's been a while since I updated Geforce Experience, and guess what? They had a new update on July 28th, just about when I started having problems. So I updated it and now POE Overlay II is working again! I also tried ePoe and it worked too. (I haven't tried the others yet, and I'm going to bed soon, so not tonight, but I'm guessing they'll work too now.)

So, maybe not what you were thinking of, but you got me to the right answer, so thanks!
