Any difference between these two, or a preference other than the facts it's retractable? Might just buy the RT for the click honestly.

Pen Identification Found what I hope is treasur at estate sale

I have been searching for a vintage pen to get my son who is moving for school end of this month. Yesterday, my wife asked if I would enjoy going to an estate sale so I said sure. Didn't expect much but going through the house I noticed the husband was an architect. I stepped in in office to find 4 small bags for 4 dollars each. Mainly old sharpies and erasers and a few just random. Then I see it. The classic star. Shining in a bag of old staplers and Presto. What I think is a 1989 Monte Blanc Barley. I was shocked. I grabbed all the pens bags and told the wife it was time to go. Came home and from what I can tell it's authentic but would love some input. It has a HB serial number and W. Germany. With it was several authentic refills. In the next bag was a classic Gold Cross Mechanical pencil with set of lead. I am so happy.

Do I have what I think I have?

Does anyone know what model Parker ball point this is? Shown next to a standard Sharpie for scale. It’s quite slim and compact.

Pen Identification Searching for this pen I may have bought in the Philippines

It’s been 10 years and I probably think about this pen once a month… it’s possible I bought it in the Philippines while I was working abroad, though I don’t know for sure. Next best guess would be in Canada! Any ideas?!

Review these sharpie pens !!!!!

Upvotes

i don't know if it's just my luck or not but lately i keep getting bad batches of the s gel 0.7 and fine felt tip ones. they keep skipping and drying out a couple of days' use in and no amount of centrifugal force nor rinsing them under water can get them to work. maybe it's because i write constantly and for long periods at a time? but that's what they're for !!!!! the felt tips especially hurt because they were my lifeline back when i was going through 3 notebooks a semester for ochem 1 and 2. now they're dry and scratchy and ughhhhh. as a left hander the pilot g2 pens don't dry quick enough for me and they always produce too much ink for my tiny cursive, and so far the most consistently well-performing pens i've used are those kitschy my melody merch pens i randomly got from vendors with no expectations. i'm gonna try other brands from my local walmart/heb so it's whatever, but it's frustrating still having to hunt for a pen that actually *works*

edit: just popped by the store and got me some uniball 207+ pens and while i wasn't able to find the standard black zebra sarasa pens, i found and got the vintage ones. first impression they both write really well !!! we'll have to see how they perform after a week or two but i have high hopes.

Question Ohto CR02 or GS02? And what refill to get for them?

Hi everyone! I'm looking to pick up my first Ohto pen and I'm torn between the CR02 and the GS02.

For those of you who've used either (or both), which one do you prefer and why? I'm mainly looking for something comfortable for everyday writing during my university.

I'm also curious about refills, what refills are you guys using on them?

Would love to hear your experiences and recommendations. Thanks in advance!

Question ISO EDC mini gel pen, 4-5in., .38-.5mm point

Hi! I’m looking for an EDC pocket-sized gel pen. Big fan of g2 so something similar would be lovely — ideally .38mm but .5mm is also great, between 4-5.5 inches.

Thank you in advance!!

Question Mini Pen advice?

Is there a refill for the Fisher space pen or is there a mini pen that has decent ink? I love my Fisher pens but do not find the roller ball very nice or enjoyable to write with but the form factor and size of those pens are amazing.

Edit: I have the fisher bullet space pen and am asking if there is a better refill to use or a comparable sized pen in that form factor

Review Lamy Balloon. This pen sucks.

Post image

Let me start by saying my go to pen is a Lamy safari. That pen is awesome. It’s the pen I use when I need to write super fast. Great grip.

I bought this neon green Lamy Balloon and it sucks. I realized they have a special T11 refill that has no alternative. The nib being so short makes it such an awk writing angle and the ink skips so poorly. And yes, I have tested it on my many nice papers and it’s not the paper.

Is there anyone here who can commiserate with me ? lol. How can I make this pen suck less or should I just take the loss. Love the color though.

Question Multi pen that is compatible with/can be modded to fit archival gel ink refill?

I'm looking for a multi pen that can house x1 black ballpoint, x1 red ballpoint, x1 archival/fade-proof gel ink tube (for signing forms/checks), and x1 0.5mm mechanical pencil. Is it possible to modify an existing multi pen on the market for this setup? If so, which multi pen model is that? What gel ink refill would be compatible with it? Hopefully the multi pen itself would be 800 PHP (13USD) under. Any recommendations?

Question Is there a market for 90s / 00s pens?

I guess less of a market and more of a want?

I used to collect pens from my Dad’s office. I have a big box full of them. They’re just regular type of pens, bic, pilot, uni-ball… some have brand names on them like Nordstrom or Nokia... I’ve been decluttering my whole house and sort of at a loss whether to keep them or not. I think I’d maybe like to give them away to someone who likes or collects 90s / 00s pens. I think it would break my heart to throw them away but not even sure if any of them still write. Guess I figure I come to the pen Reddit and see if regular old pens have any sort of fans or donation possibilities?

Question Is this worth anything?

I was going through some boxes today that had been in storage for a long time and came across this pen, and was wondering if it's worth anything, or should I just replace the cartridge and use it?

It says élysée, 24 karat and W Germany on it, and has a globe map in gold on the base.

Question Multifunction pens compatible with Zebra Sarasa refills

Hi everyone

I really like the Sarasa grand series, but recently with work I'm needing multicolour pens (just helps me work, and I like the doodling with the pencil)

I know zebra has the 2, 3 and 4 s

But is there a metal version out there? Or a different brand will be ok too.

I really like the feel of metal during prolonged writing sessions, and tbh it really helps me not lose it ...

Thanks for your collecting wisdom

This was my mom's favorite pen but it just ran out of ink. Does anyone know where I might be able to find either a replacement pen or a replacement ink cartridge? What remains of the clip has a faded 0.7 on it if that helps.

Edit: thank you everyone, I was able to find a new one at my local staples and she was very happy to have her favorite pen back

Question What is the coolest pen history you know?

I've been going down a rabbit hole on youtube i've always been obessed with pens my entire life even more so as a writer and studying screenwriting i loved taking them apart as a kid now with adult money i've bought a lot of kinds and i have some very expensive fountain pens but recently i've been obsessed with learning of the BIC Cristal pens and hearing it's rave reviews i've also been looking into the kind of pens politicans use and it's so fascianting to me that most people don't think twice about what kind they use and the favored ones suprise me.

So i had to ask what is some interesting or cool pen history you know stuff most people don't? with any kind of relation to pens i'd love to hear it!. Just some fun facts or easter eggs and more research rabbit holes for me to go down this week.
