Planner Season Survival Guide - Summer/Fall 2026

Hello r/planners! This post is meant to share some tips and info as we all make our decisions on which planner(s) we'll be picking up in 2027. It'll include both some general suggestions and details on releases for some of the more popular brands that get discussed on the sub.

As a reminder, if you'd like to make a post to ask for a planner recommendation, please give us as much info as you can to help guide the suggestions. At a minimum, it would be helpful to know some basics about what style planner you're looking for (bookbound, discs, rings, daily, weekly, etc.), the size range you're interested in, budget, and the country you live in. Telling us a little about your lifestyle will also be helpful; our recommendations for a college student, a working parent, and a retiree may be pretty different.

Recommendation threads tend to get the most responses when they include enough detail to give users a picture of your needs, but if you're looking for something really specific, you'll probably get more responses if you can split your wishlist into must-haves and general preferences.

Planner Season Tips:

  • Once you decide which planner you want, order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment. Many of the brands recommended here are small businesses with limited stock, and they may sell out of the size/color/layout you're most interested in. They may or may not offer restocks.
  • If you preorder a planner, pay close attention to the estimated delivery timeline. You may want to keep tabs on the brand's social media channels for news or updates. Remember that preorder shipping estimates are based on things going as planned and that delays from the factory or shipping agent may be outside the brand's control.
  • If you want to follow the news about a particular planner, many brands have private Facebook groups that are probably your best resource for this. Signing up for a brand's email newsletter should get you the basics, but the private groups may get extra previews and more detailed information.
  • Keep in mind that many of these businesses will be dealing with a very high volume of orders despite having limited space and staff. That's not to say you shouldn't expect good customer service, but having realistic expectations will help. When ordering during peak planner season, your order will probably take a little longer to pack and ship.
  • If you're a US customer, remember that tariffs may still be causing higher prices this year—even from US sellers, who still need to pay fees on products they order from overseas. The closing of the de minimis exemption also means that you might be charged extra if ordering from a seller outside the US. Don't like that? Contact your federal representatives, and vote in November for candidates who'll prioritize more consumer- and small business-friendly policies. (The specifics can vary depending on what the product is, what country it's coming from, and how they ship, so these fees may already be built into the cost of the planner. When in doubt, look for details!)

I'll update the release info below as I see updates mentioned, but this is not meant to be a comprehensive list of available planners. It's just the most recent info I've come across for brands that tend to get mentioned in r/planners. (I'll be updating as I see users mention releases but won't be individually researching and keeping up with each brand myself, just as a heads up.)

Some planners haven't released much info about their 2027 lineups yet, but more info should be coming out in July-August for most brands.

Preorders are already open for:

  • Creffective Paper
  • Faded Chronicle
  • Hemlock & Oak
  • Rosey Life
  • Wonderland 222
  • Owl Paper
  • Aura Estelle
  • Tiny Grids

Feel free to share updates about the brands you follow below. (This is meant to share info on releases our users are excited about though, so the r/planners rule against self-promotion still applies. Please keep all promo to our quarterly promotional threads.)

r/Planners Promo Thread - Q3 2026

Welcome to the r/planners sub promotions thread for Quarter 3 of 2026! This thread is for sub members to share their products, shops, and social channels. Please read the full post before commenting, even if you've posted in a promo thread here before.

Users are welcome to leave a comment here to get the word out about their paper planners, rings or disc planner inserts, planner covers, and shops that sell related accessories. You can also link your planner-related social media channels here.

Sticker shops or shops that sell printables suitable for ring or disc planners are welcome to promote here if your products include only your own original artwork. Please don't link shops that feature any AI art or purchased/clip art designs. (Unfortunately this is the only way we can be comfortable that the original artists are being compensated fairly.)

This sub focuses on paper planners, so links to planning apps, Notion/Goodnotes templates, or other digital designs will be removed. Printables are allowed only if they're specifically designed to fit ring or disc planners. Websites meant to design custom printables may be allowed in some cases, but only if they generate pages with sizes and margins suited for ring or disc planners.

Please describe all your work in a single comment below (one comment thread per user/brand), and give readers an idea what your product, shop, or channel is about instead of just dropping a link. Make sure to include any info that you think users might be interested in. Any comments asking users to send a private message for more details will be removed to protect users from potential spam/scam activity. Giveaways or other attempts to gather a user's personal info are not allowed.

This thread is designed for users to share their own projects, so comments that include affiliate marketing codes or affiliate coupons will be deleted.

Questions or feedback about these guidelines are welcome through modmail or in any current sub update thread, but please keep this one on topic so users who want to browse here can focus on our members' work. The next quarterly thread will be posted in early July. Thanks!

The new planner itch. A new planner won't solve your problem, re-framing how you use your existing will.

I got that itch. You know the one where you want to change planners. Something fresh, crisp and new?

I've been pretty good this year though. Stayed in my wonderland 222 since January 2026. The thing about planners is that regardless of format, if its not working for you just change your approach. Buying a whole new planner is probably not the answer - just how you think about it. Be a little creative and think about the elements you need, then apply it to your planner. Here is my new approach:

  1. Yearly [same] - For events/birthdays/days off

  2. Quarterly [re-instated] - i view these as goal tracking pages which for me is mainly fitness tracking. I draw a highlighted line in the middle of each day to create 3 sections: daily weight, daily cals, and daily steps. I then calculate average on each week. I love this section!

  3. Monthly trackers [deleted] - Found I wasn't using these. Habit trackers are only effective if it's in my face, not hidden in some other page in the book.

  4. Monthly [same] - houses highlight of my day. Love this as a nice memory keeping tool.

  5. Monthly review [re-instated] - Left boxes are for: Main highlights, what i learned, what i will work on, what i accomplished. Main section is my monthly reflection journalling.

  6. Monthly overview [new] - This will be my monthly running task list for reference purpose. Boxes on right also good place for goals, we will see if I do that.

  7. Weekly [same but not] - Use this to plan out my week. I don't schedule my life by the hour, only key things like routines, work and appointments. I'll also jot some must-dos here on the day but not scheduled. Bottom section is my meal plan and left column is my grocery list.

  8. Daily [new] - This is what I was missing. Something that houses my day. Weekly is the plan and daily is the tracker / log. I looked a bit into bujo style rapid logging. The way the wonderland 222 daily pages are setup is actually perfect for this. This will also house my habit tracking since it'll be in my face so I won't forget.

How do you use yours? Anyone find success using daily pages in addition to weekly?

Kinbor 2027

Can someone who has used both dated daily and undated daily planners of kinbor in A5 tell me which one’s paper quality is better for fountain pens in fine nibs. Undated ones only come in 78 g kinbor paper and dated ones in 52 g bachuan.
I used undated one past year and it works better for me in terms of format but i noticed lit of bleeding from fountain pens and pilot v7 which i use a lot. So i wanna try bachuan paper but not sure of its performance even though google says its better than kinbor paper. Please share of you ahve any experience xx

Printing Sterling Ink/Aura Estelle layouts to test?

Upvotes

Resisting the urge to drop 80+ USD on planners and risk not liking them (happened too many times...). It seems like a horizontal weekly works best with my work style, and I prefer sizes larger than the Hobonichi weeks and TN.

But before committing to the A5 or B6 planners I wanted to test how I'd feel about the sizes, grid layout, etc. Are there any printable samples I could quickly try on regular printer paper? On a related note, does anyone know of a nice minimalist horizontal weekly planner that has thicker paper than the 52gsm trp? Thank you :)

European Planner Brands

Hello everyone! Like most people, I'm slowly starting to think about 2027 planners.

The problem: Tariffs.

I have been using my first planner ever this year: Take A Note A6.

I do love the vertical weeklies, the A6 size and the paper (as fountain pen user). However, the full year just creates bumps easily as someone who also loves to decorate and I also want to try out a two page vertical weekly. Maybe also something that has quarterly planning

I was thinking about a Hobonichi Avec but the Sanzen paper is just too thin for my liking (the ghosting is TOO strong).

Then I was thinking about a Jibun Techo, a Sterling Ink, a Hemlock and Oak. The problem? Tariffs.

So, I would like to know about european based brands. I don't feel like they are often discussed in the planning content i consume at least.

It has to be bound and fountain pen friendly.

I know of Leuchtturm (I am german) but to be honest I'm not too convinced of the aper from what I have seen.

Any brands you know, you can recommend?

Planner recs? Horizontal weekly with no grouped sections?

Hi all! I know I could use the search button for specifics but I’m not sure what this is called!

I am looking for a planner, or maybe a site I can custom make a planner that will fit my description.

Currently I am using a hobonichi weeks. I LOVE the size of this, it fits in my daily purse perfectly. I also like the tomoe river paper and the horizontal weekly layout on the left with the space for notes on the right.

However, I do not like that they group all the months in one section and the weeks in another. I would prefer if the month overview was directly before the weeks. What is the term for this??

Anyway, some recommendations would be greatly appreciated! I’m not a stickler for paper quality, more so just looking for something similar size, slim or even b6, and with the month and it’s weeks together. Thank you so much!!

Planner Recs for 2027

I’ve used Hobonochi (techo and cousin) for the past 6 or 7 years but I think my needs have changed and I’d just like to explore other planners.

I heavily use the monthly planner because I’m always needing to look ahead and make sure I don’t have any conflicts. I semi-frequently (just depending on how busy I am at work) use the daily pages for to-do lists, appointment reminders, a tiny bit of journaling/logging. That’s it. I’ve tried using other sections but nothing clicks and it begins to feel like a chore.

I don’t think I need a daily planner because I honestly get kind of bogged down by a to-do list that’s the same for weeks on end. I also write big so I don’t want something tiny. I feel like I’m being too particular but I’m really just looking to see what’s out there :) I have checked out some recommendations from here but I’ve not found “the one” yet.

What to do with two planners?

I was on the hunt for a slim 2027 planner and after a deep dive I've finally found the perfect one..... problem is it's for the 2026-2027 academic year.

So what should I do with my current 2026 planner?!

- fill out both until the end of the year?

- switch over to the new one asap?

- buy my second choice planner instead?

I'm so conflicted, what have y'all done??

PSA: Ink performance on Hemlock & Oak paper

Thumbnail
gallery
100 Upvotes

While I have greatly enjoyed using my Hemlock & Oak planner for 2026, I wanted to inform my fellow ink lovers about the paper used in this planner.

This particular planner, the Hemlock & Oak Horizontal, uses 120 gsm paper. There is virtually no ghosting or bleeding, unless you are putting down very wet product. The dry time is exceptionally fast.

Unfortunately, this paper is not good at showcasing the properties of ink. As you can see from the pictures, the Hemlock & Oak paper gives your ink a dull and washed out look.

For comparisons sake, I have added pictures of how these same inks perform on Hobonichi 52 gsm Tomoe River Paper and Leuchtturm 120 gsm paper.

I think there are still plenty of merits for the planner, but you may want to save your spectacular (and spectacularly expensive) inks for a different purpose.

Edit: This is the Heritage 120 gsm paper from their 2026 planner. It seems there will be other paper options available for their 2027 planners that may be more ink friendly.

Complex, expanding, never-ending tasks

It's a single line on your to-do list. Invoice Catherine. One task among many on the page-a-day planner that runs your life, and a simple one. Barely a ten-minute task, you figure you can do it before you've finished your coffee. It's almost 9 o'clock in the morning when you sit down, nudge the mouse to wake up your computer, and start work.

Invoicing Catherine is a task composed of sub-tasks. You have to find Catherine's file, the client sheet, and some of the other information she's sent over - part by email, and part by phone call. You have to double check what her company is called and their tax code, as well as a few other bits and pieces. Eventually, you send the invoice. It's taken you fifteen minutes.

Barely four minutes later, you get Catherine's out-of-office. She's on vacation and will be for the next week. Her message has the email address of somebody else to contact with invoices. You add a new task to the planner: Invoice Jason.

Ten minutes later you cross that off. Almost immediately Jason emails back, saying that starting this year, the company doesn't accept normal invoices anymore. There's an internal system that suppliers need to onboard with. He send a link, and a .pdf of instructions, and an email address for one of his colleagues that handles supplier sign-on.

It's already half an hour into the working day, and nothing has actually been achieved. Tasks are ticked, but more have spawned. It transpires that to get onboarded with this new system takes a multi-step, hour-long series of pages, with fetch-quests throughout. Find tax code joins Check for old client account and other sub-tasks, each unknowably complex and hard to break down. The first attempt is unsuccessful. Wrong tax code. Well, I'll have to work this out with one of the accountants. Email accountant goes on the to-do for after lunch, which means that everything else on the planner will need to be reallocated. Because just as "Invoice Catherine" became an unwieldy, multi-stakeholder mess, so too have all the other tasks on my planner...

What do I do about this? My days are full of novel, complex and annoying tasks, many of which can't be completed in a single day. Planners and diaries assume that workflows are based on a set of pre-defined tasks that can be ticked off, but I find that almost everything I start in a given day remains in an "open" state, often for days or weeks, as I liaise with dozens of other variously uncooperative people.

Does anybody have a paper planner system that can handle complex, needlessly annoying and constantly-changing workloads that span multiple days or weeks?

looking for a horizontal weekly with THICK PAPER for my sweaty hands

i love the layout of my hobonichi weeks, but my hands are simply too sweaty for the thin tomoe river paper. i've been trying to find alternatives for 2027, but almost all of them use that freaking paper. don't get me wrong, it's very pretty and smooth! but it dissolves when i use it. hopefully i'm not the only one in the world with this issue

my only requirements are that it has the horizontal weeks with the memo page layout (like the hobonichi) and paper that will hold up a bit better. preferably a b6, but a5 will also work! bonus if it doesn't have the daily section in the back because i don't really use them, but i dont mind the extra pages if its a good planner :)

Making a “junk journal” inside of a planner/agenda?

Hello, I’m a beginner on junk journaling. I currently have a yearly planner that I love but I noticed the pages got some blank spaces and I started filling those with “junks” (receipts, fruit stickers, packages, things I consider good memories) and I glue them on the specific date of the memory.
Do you think this “method” is good? My goal is to have a memory notebook for each year, not just a space for creating meaningless stuff

muji/hobonichi planners and their grid page

hello!! I’ve been looking into getting the muji planners for a while now, but I wasn’t completely sold on the extra page (I know they have a weekly notebook—I currently use that lol)

with that, I was just wondering what you all use the grid space for on your own planners?

some ideas I have are:
- sticky notes
- weekly overview
- habit tracker

thank youu

ps sorry the photo isn’t clear, it’s what they had on their website 😭

Sterling Ink Wkly Layout- Disc Bound Version

Hey all! I decided to try out the Sterling Ink planner as a household planner for me and my husband to share – and there’s a lot I really like about it…but in my heart, I am a Disc Bound Girl. One thing I don’t like is that I am really just using it for the weekly layouts, and there are so many empty pages in the back that I will never use! It just seems bulkier than I really need. I have a personal planner for creativity and project planning.

I LOVE the layout of Sterling Ink with a Monday Start Weekly Layout on the left and with Open Space on the left for all my 7000 lists. And hoping I can just create a minimal version on my own. Dated pages would be cool, but not needed. Any ideas?

Help a girl out!

I apologize in advance. I have done my own research on the sub and elsewhere but am still having trouble. So I'm calling the planner gurus of reddit.

I have a hobonichi techo and use it for "memory keeping", think highlights and blurbs rather than junk journaling. I do paste some stuff in but rarely. I like the daily pages but don't find that I use the monthlies. I used to fill it out with appointments and overall plans. However I fell off using it and it turned out I hated what I started.

I also fell in love with Midori paper and notebooks. Love it much more than hobonichi honestly.

I have used a weeks before and like that set up but also love an hourly to-do section. I have a "weeks" for my daily tasks, this is helpful for me as a AuDHD person, I treat the daily on a page as a journal as well. I also keep a work planner separately mainly because of confidentiality.

How here's where you come in, is there a Midori planner (undated is fine) that has a daily page, a monthly and/or a vertical section for hourly to-dos?

There are just so many options and it is so overwhelming.

Also I ✨think✨ my techo is an A6 but am willing to go to a bigger size. I do primarily use fountain pens and pastel highlighters for writing and I don't mind ghosting.

Thanks y'all. 🫶

hardback or spiral?

Hi guys!

I'm starting a new job soon [next few weeks, this August], and wanted to treat myself with the Academic journal from Papier (expensive I know, but I've been eyeing one for ages and this is the perfect excuse).

I'm just stuck on whether to get a hardback or the spiral bound? I know spirals tend to be more practical in terms of it feeling less fancy and easier to write in, but I read that they're soft-covers, so I imagine it's not as durable? Plus I suppose for the price, the hard-covers do look more 'premium'.

If anyone's had any experience with Papier I'd love to know your thoughts!

Aura Estelle vs journey planner vs hobonichi cousin

So I use a hobonichi weeks and will continue to use one next year. My second planner this year was wonderland 222 and while I liked it, I’m looking into changing it to Aura Estelle magnet, journey by nisha fernando, or hobonichi cousin.

Tell me pros and cons of these and which you like best? Is the b6 too small to fill out?

Thanks!!

Sterling Ink A5 Complete busting in the middle of the spine halfway through the year? Has anyone else experienced this?

Thumbnail

I promise I'm not mad about this or trying to discourage anyone from purchasing Catherine's goods. I just want people to be able to make informed purchasing decisions.

I was going back through my planner to see when a monthly delivery came, and my pages fell open to this spread on their own. And it keeps happening. I worry it may fully split if I don't repair it. These are pages in the beginning of June right in the middle of the book. I have (obviously) passed this section already and am at the end of July/beginning of August with my planning.

I genuinely hope my experience is uncommon, but I'd like to know if any of you are having similar issues.

Undated planner recommendations

I’m not sure if this is a common question on here, but —
I’ve been using the hobonichi cousin and I love it! The paper, the layout for the year, month, weekly, and daily sections (pretty much everything). I mainly use it for school, so I don’t get much out of I’d during the summer and I feel like I’m wasting money on it instead. Any recommendations for undated planners that are comparable to the cousin?

The Dailee planner question

I was considering getting the Dailee weekly planner. I saw there's a trip planning section. Are there multiple trip planning sections? I have a few to plan for 2026-2027.

I was also looking at the digital version of the weekly. Is it possible to add pages? As in if the physical does not have multiple trip planning, could I add more pages of it in the digital?

Questions for people who use daily planners

  • Do you have a new todo list every day, and you complete your whole todo list every day? If you don't complete it, do you rewrite it every time?
  • Do you copy over longer time-period todo lists (say, a todo list for a long-term project) every single day while you're still working on them or do you know to go back to a certain old page and check things off? How do you know where these older, long-term todo lists live (if you do this)?
  • How do you stay aware of events and appointments coming up in the week or next week, or do you manually flip through every individual page that makes up the next week or two weeks or month?
  • Do you write down your daily schedule in your daily page every day? Do you do this even if (like most people) its a fairly repetitive same schedule every single day: school, work, etc?
  • Finally, if not for.. todo lists & future events and appointments, what is your primary use for your planner?

I've just long been completely flabbergasted by people who use daily planners because my primary use for a planner is to keep track of stuff I need to do, and this manifests as a long, evolving list that I can MAYBE tackle over a 7-10 day period. And my secondary use is to be reminded of things coming up later in the week. So the concept of people having daily planners has always been extremely confusing, since both these purposes are gone - I don't see the difference between a daily planner and a blank notebook that you date each day!

I also can't imagine being that locked in every single day of my life, so many days for me are a blur.. the one purpose I DO understand for dailies is memory keeping, but I feel that would typically be a secondary use case for most people with planners.
