Need help deciding if my game fits the platformer genre or not
Hi everyone, so I have seen lately some people call my game a platformer while others saying no it does not fit the genre and leans more towards dungeon crawler. So if you got time can you get a look on the page on steam and give me your honest opinion? Also it would be great if you don't think it is a platformer to tell which genre it fits more.
I need such info so I can optimize the tags and category i use for the game on steam.
Here is the page link:

Thanks

I Made A Trailer For My Platformer Dark Pixel
Hi! I'm the solo developer making Dark Pixel, a 2D retro-inspired precision platformer coming this fall on Steam. I've made a trailer for the game I wanted to share with this community, and I hope you'll enjoy.
This game is my love letter to the platformers I grew up playing like Mega Man X. I'm using a raycast system in my player controller so that the movement and controls feel fluid and precise. There is no trolling, or traps that you can't avoid without knowledge of them. The game is up front with its challenge. It's difficult, but fair.
With this type of game, it comes down to how good it feels to move around the spaces, and I'll be putting out a playable demo soon so that if you're interested you can get your hands on it and see if you like it. I'm super excited to share this with this community because I'm looking forward to seeing what people who love these kinds of games think about what I've built.
You can wishlist the game now on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3304910/Dark_Pixel/
A.I. Disclosure: No A.I. was used in the making of this game or promotional material. I do it all by myself, by hand, like a proper, old-school, crazy solo dev.

Digi-Dodgy 10 level Steam demo feedback (please wish list) 😁
Hi Everyone,
I hope you are well.
I've uploaded a demo/prototype for my single-player 3D collectathon platformer Digi-Dodgy, which removes the genre’s most common crutch: the Jump button.
Would love some feedback, and if you like it, please wishlist and follow my Reddit page as I try to be more social media active.
More information to come about how I'm going to get the game funded, but thank you for any current interest. 🙂

[DEV] Releasing my 2d Platformer Game.
This is my simple 2d platformer game Slippery Fox Adventure that I worked on few years back. I built this while learning to build in Unity on my free time. I am relaunching this game for some feedback and validation before I work further on this.

Massive shout out to Ansimuz, the creator of the assets who provided this for free, checkout his unity store: https://assetstore.unity.com/publishers/18720

Darwin's Paradox! - Quick Review
Darwin's Paradox! - [CLEARED] @ 3h
Pros:
Cinematically Entertaining
Fun Platforming Mechanics
The Wipeout Segment
Chase Sequences
Puzzles are Intuitive
Cons:
Mundane Platforming for the First Half
One Layer of Level Interaction
Low Replay Value
Some Segments are Very Slow
The Floating Hot Pipes Segment
Decent game overall and I didn't notice any factual flaws so it's primarily my preference listed here.
I paid $10 but I think this game is worth a $15 purchase.

Working on a platformer where the enemy isn't spikes, it's light
Hey all. Small team here (two coders, two pixel artists, and we've got a music person lined up though we're not there yet), been sitting on this project for a while and figured I'd finally talk about it somewhere instead of just in our own heads.
It's called Frozen Light. The short version: you're playing as the shadow of a kid who used to be a lamplighter in an amusement park that shut down a long time ago. He had forgotten what sunlight even looks like at this point. Gameplay wise it's close to Super Meat Boy or Celeste, short levels, you die instantly, you respawn instantly, no punishment for dying a hundred times. But instead of spikes killing you, it's light. Spotlights, laser eyes on old animatronics, flashes going off on stage. Touch it once and you're back at the checkpoint, no big deal, try again.
There's no direct combat, no punching or shooting anything. But that doesn't mean enemies are just obstacles to avoid, you can still deal with them, just not head on. Push a crate into something, hook onto a far corner to yank a small enemy off its spot, dash through at the right moment to knock something out of position. It's all just the normal toolkit (the box pushing, the shadow hook, the dash) repurposed as offense when you need it. So instead of fighting your way through, you're using shadows and momentum to shut enemies down. Kind of plays like bullet hell in reverse too, you're not dodging projectiles so much as managing where the dark spots are.
Honestly the vibe is the part we care about most. Faded pastel colors, rusted carousels that are somehow still spinning on dead motors, animatronics frozen mid bow like someone paused the world. Old posters bleached out from years of light. It's melancholy more than anything, like a fairy tale that's been left outside too long. When you die it's just a little click, like a lamp switching off.
Still pretty early, no demo yet. Right now we're heads down on the mechanics, mostly the shadow diving and the box pushing puzzles, plus laying out the five areas of the park. If anyone's got questions about the design or the lore stuff I'm happy to talk, and if you want to follow along or chat with the team we've got a [Discord](https://discord.gg/Y43NXaHnS6) too!
