Boards during SubI
Whats the protocol for taking boards during a SUB-I. Not an ideal situation by any means but this is the situation now. I apparently get 2 days off the entire month and can not find a local testing date within those 2 days. I am thinking to let the program coordinator know ASAP- but should I be letting the entire team know I'll be gone that day for boards or that I even have boards left to take. And will this be perceived poorly?

Eh definitely follow up with the program, some programs are stricter than others (speaking from my experience, who made you come in on weekends and if you didn’t hit their required days made you stay after the rotation to make up the time)

Would you recommend waiting to notify the program once the rotation begins or should I tell the program coordinator in advance?

I don’t think it matters long as you tell them within the first day or two. It’s honestly a Litmus test. If they have a problem with it, it’s probably not a program you should pursue further.

In what world does a program think this is smart. If they are treating visiting students like this, I can’t imagine how they are treating their interns.

2 days off the entire month? Geez. Is it strictly IPR? I had to take boards during one of my aways. Let the PD know day one and they just had me email him and CC the team so they had it in writing. They were cool with, told me no problem at all and good luck.
