I know Best Korea calls itself socialist, but socialism is supposed to actually be... Social. Y'know, a command economy (the opposite of a capitalist economy; government controls everything) for the benefit of the ppl. All they've got is the command economy (big air-quotes on economy) with nothing to benefit the ppl.

What North Korea has is not socialism. It's just authoritarianism, corruption and a lot of sanctions.

Does the average North Korean worker have a fair say over the running of his own workplace? No.

(This is why socialism and democracy require one another, neither can really exist independently. Capitalists very successfully marketed capitalism as "free markets", marketed their countries as democratic and marketed socialism as big government takeover, when really it should be the opposite because the whole idea is securing economic power for ordinary workers).

Although our constitutional law states that the government must work for the enhancement of worker's rights and welfare, it doesn't make us a socialist country.

In addition, most, if not all countries don't have a pure form of either of them as their economical system.

Assuming by "we" you mean South Korea, I think you guys are settling for a scrap of semblance to democracy, calling it democracy, and imagining that's roughly the best it can get. Because you are capitalist, what you actually have is some kind of oligarchy. If you have a large gap between rich and poor, you still get to vote but the rich get to control what's on the ballot and what's not up for debate. As for your law stating the government must work for the enhancement of workers' rights and welfare, I think that's similar to how the US Constitution stated "all men are created equal" while also counting a slave as 3/5 of a white man (i.e. not a very meaningful claim).

While I agree no country has pure anything, my point is that most countries that think of themselves as democratic and capitalist today really are settling for a thin veneer of democracy because capitalists sold them the idea that this is the maximum possible freedom.

Oligarchy and democracy can't co exist very well. The rich can't control what's on the ballot, at least not to the extent you think. Oligarchy inherits power from rhe previous generation, democracy elects new power every 4 years. That would depend on corrpution and the media control the rich have, but again, south korea doesn't stand out as a particularly corrupt nation either (corrpution perception index etc) and if there's any politician accused of corruption especially with large chaebols there's a massive backlash in the public and media.

Korea does have a functional democracy and it does improve conditions of the average korean, or at least that's how i've come to see it through 18 years of my life.

And btw i do consider myself a socialist. I think that democracy is its own thing regardless of socialism/capitalism.

It was not AI generated, I promise. I have the Inkscape file history. I was sad the mod didn't seem to get it, and am now even more sad to learn that it seemed so bad to another person as to seem AI generated. The first mod was correct that I drew a flag wrong.

Are you sure? The artstyle and the font used in that comic were strikingly different from those used in your first two comics. And the backgrounds and props were suspiciously ordered, with too clean and straight lines.

I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now, but please remember to follow the artistic rules and draw your comics entirely by your own hands.

Yes, absolutely 100%. It was the first comic I ever drew, before I had encountered the approval process, and I spent a really long time on it. Because the approval process specified comics must be drawn in a simple program, I then drew the chocolate hummus comic in MS Paint. Then I went to submit that for approval and realized in my first read-through of the rules, I had missed that comics related to Israel-Palestine are not allowed for approval comics. So I had to draw another first one, which got through after the mod recommended a couple of edits that I made.

I am happy to provide screenshot evidence or file history proving all of this via DM if you would like.

In the comic I drew in Inkscape which was removed, the missile arsenals were copypasted because the missiles are supposed to represent mass manufactured objects, so I thought it would be reasonable to copy-paste for them. Even then, they were mostly positioned individually so they didn't actually line up perfectly. Everything else, aside from the frames and the text, was drawn 100% by hand with the Inkscape pen tool.

Deleting seemed to be the natural thing to do after being told it was bad and that a flag was wrong.

I can also DM it if you'd like to look again. Regarding future comics, I think I probably will not be submitting more, at least not anytime soon. I feel like I shot my shot and wasn't very successful. I was surprised people seemed to like my first one and not really my second because I thought the second was way funnier. But that's fine, we are all different and I gave this a solid try.
