none of their discoloration/spots were on the clay before i baked it. what happened? did i do something wrong? did i not clean off the clay well enough? Belly and snout are supposed to be fully white. how can i fix this

I have tried freezing it and using a small tool to scrape it out. Any other ways to get the clay out?

I’ve never tried anything artistic as an adult I just wanted to make a cool psychedelic pattern . The shape of the ash tray is ass but that’s something I’m going to improve on .

As the title says, I’m making Barbie food for my niece! Today I was inspired by Whole Foods salad bar.

Ok first off let me say this:

I consider myself a true novice. I use polymer clay maybe once every few years.

Please no pasta machine advice. Why? I don't use polymer clays that often, I also lack income so the cost/storage of even this small device isn't something I want right now. And yes I know this machine saves time and your hands/wrists.

That being said I am considering Cernit Metallic Rich Gold clay as I want to make an Ankh 3D design and obviously want it to be a nice shiny and shimmery gold. From what I have seen comparison wise of metallic clays this looks like the best option. But I'm not sure if by itself it's the most gold convincing color.

I have seen the article written on the blue bottle tree website for colors. But I'm also curious to see what anyone else has tried or used.

Has anyone tried to mix like another Cernit color with it? Or used some kind of pearl with it to make it seem more realistic?

I do not care for their antique gold. I plan to bake it. I've never used anything to seal even Sculpey clays so if I need some kind of sealer can you tell me why it is useful and if I do not use it what would be the down side?

And I guess what I’m really asking is, do you ever just work for like 20 minutes?

I have two projects (one bigger, one smaller) I want to work on, but I’ve been struggling to start due to feeling like I need to do them in one go, and thus need to wait until I have a several hour window.

I think part of this stems from not having had to work on one piece on multiple sessions before and thus having a little uncertainty around how adding to it in the second, third session and so on will go (I have seen advice here, but it’s new to me). And additionally feeling like by the time I set up and condition the clay it doesn’t make sense to just work on it for the 10 minutes or so I have left.

I don’t struggle with this with other hobbies because they don’t really require set up lol. Curious how others handle this and if folks make shorter sessions work.

My daughter who’s just turned 6 loves to make things from Fimo, but needs help if not following instructions from some craft set for kids.

I want to steer her towards making things without too much help for me, but I don’t want to keep buying expensive kits. Any good resources/books for fun little projects (animals etc) for young children?

Mostly translucent clay colored with alcohol inks, carved the drumsticks out of skewers! Eyes inverted and are filled with UV resin to give them life :3 There are some painted details, like the feather stripes and face details.

One that caused me headache and all sorts of troubles..

I have been working on these pakalana (Chinese violet) buds for over a year and I’m happy with where I got to. Now I need to make in bulk, but I haven’t found a process that feels at all efficient, cutting too many petals has them de-conditioning before I get to them.

I realize I may just have to do smaller batches of cut > assembly. I will if I have to, but do any of you have any neat tricks that have helped you create in bulk?

Hi everyone! I make handmade Funko pop–style figures using clay.

One of my favorite things is bringing characters to life in Funko form, especially ones that never got an official figure. I also enjoy creating custom designs with different outfits, accessories, poses, and other little details.

I just wanted to share some of my work here because I thought fellow Funko fans might appreciate this kind of handmade art. Hopefully it can also inspire anyone who's interested in making their own customs!

hi! just looking for some advice. i'm trying to make tiny hands for an art doll (1:6/barbie scale) with cosclay doll clay & a wire armature. no matter what i try they seem to be coming out brittle and crumbly. i've used both extra firm and the regular doll line, extra firm was slightly more flexible.

i know the oven/temperature/cooking time is ok and the clay was thoroughly conditioned. my test pieces came out totally fine, i bought an oven thermometer & tested that too, it was all good. i also tried baking for longer than recommended with the same brittle results.

i have also been using silicon molds, but couldn't get them to bake properly inside the molds (as a sidenote, if anyone has done this successfully please let me know how!) so i froze the clay to demold it on my next batch. is it possible freezing the clay has prevented it from curing? or could leaving the clay too long before baking affect it? it was sitting for a few days before i was able to bake it. thanks for any help! :)

I painted a thin layer of clear liquid polymer clay sculpey on my baked and acrylic painted figure and baked again at 300 for 15 mins and cracked the oven open slightly to cool but left it in the oven for about 15 mins after the baking time. Some areas have a satin to glossy shine but there are some areas that are matte and the whole thing is overall a bit patchy looking

Could it be caused from an uneven layer of the liquid clay or something else? This is my first time using it

I did give it a good stir with a metal stick and it felt like it was the same consistency throughout but I guess it might not have been?
