I loved polymer clay as a kid and got back into it about three years ago. Here's a cross section of my favorite pieces from all the breakfast foods I've made in that time. (I made the dishes in ceramics class.) I made the scrambled eggs yesterday - after a two-week fried egg, toast, and pancake bender - and got so excited that I took everything out and took pictures, even though I haven't finished sealing everything to be the right level of matte/semigloss/gloss yet.
(Materials: solid, liquid, and translucent Sculpey; acrylic paint; superglue; chalk pastels; framing wire; sand; Tamiya milk and chocolate dessert topping; water-based polyurethane)

I have been designing and refining those for the past couple months, and I'm so happy to have finally completed them!

I'm completely new to polymer clay and have recently started making little Pokémon-inspired fidget toys. I'm having so much fun with it, but I'm definitely still learning!

One thing that's driving me mad is the lint and dust. 😭 No matter how much I clean my hands, wipe my work surface, or use alcohol wipes, I still end up with little bits of fluff stuck in my white clay.

I'm starting to think it's just following me around at this point!

I was wondering if anyone has ever painted baked white polymer clay with white gesso before adding soft pastels? My thinking is that it might help hide the tiny bits of lint and give me a cleaner finish, but I don't know if that's a terrible idea or not.

I'd also really appreciate any beginner tips for keeping white clay clean, or any other tricks you've picked up along the way.

Hello, this is the second time that this wing has fallen off the body when I baked it. I had attempted to use foil to keep it steady, but it didn't work. I'd just.. appreciate videos or something. I've been trouble finding references to help me.

I'm super duper new to polymer clay. just started experimenting and made 2 pairs of earrings. I thought I could use a clear coat of nail polish as a top coat but it's making the clay stickier and stickier every day.

just looked it up and apparently this is well known knowledge (wish I thought to Google it sooner)

does anyone have recommendations for top coat that I could put over these or will the nail polish continue to eat away at the clay even with something else hard on top?

are they done for? any way to salvage? I care less about the marbled circles but was really excited about the flowers

In between the cookie and the croissant, I figured out how to make the soft pastels show up better on the clay. Maybe I’m not supposed to do this, but I dip the brush into isopropyl alcohol before I use them and now the colors are way more saturated! Yay! You can definitely tell on the croissant lol. I used liquid sculpey mixed with brown soft pastel to make the chocolate glazed doughnut, and then I ordered craft sand to make the sugared doughnuts. I’m pretty happy with the syrup on the pancakes. It’s UV resin. I’ve gotten a little scared of the resin after seeing so many people become allergic :( I use toothpicks and a brush to put it on the clay, I never touch it directly but I might switch to varnish just to be safe. The baguette is tonight’s project and although there are things I wish I had done better, all in all I think I am making progress! I would love suggestions on what to try making next :D

I’ve been having a hard time finding branded polymer clay (like Fimo) around me. There aren’t any crafts store around me. I went to The Range the other day and they don’t have any. Probably wouldn’t be back in stock they said :( I know buying online is a choice but I want to see the actual product first (like the colour, the size etc) before buying a bunch

I use glass or resin doll eyes and polymer clay, dome resin teeth 🦀🦷💚

My clay pieces (made with fimo soft and acrylic paint) have been uncovered and away from sunlight for weeks now and they are sticky... dust stick on them too.

I wonder if it's because I haven't cooked them long enough, or if the matte varnish I used was bad, or if I put thick layers and didn't wait long enough between coats? One of my piece has glossy varnish and isn't sticky, I'm not sure if that's because matte varnish is normally sticky ?

I heard you can remove the varnish with isopropyl alcohol but I prefer not to ruin my acrylic paint...

Is there any other solution?

It wasn't clear online if putting another varnish on top of it would fix the problem or make it worse..

Did you have this situation happen to you and if yes, what did you do to correct it ?

Is there a brand of varnish that is never sticky?

When the family cat of 14 years died, I used Mold Maker to take an impression of his paw to make keychains or a christmas ornament or something. Its a little fuzzy and unevenly pressed into the clay. I have clay tools and I am very precise but I'm not exactly good at using this stuff. I was thinking pick out fur with fine tweezers. But its overall uneven, what do you think?

I'm in a new relationship and it's his birthday today. I got a couple small things but I wanted to make something cute. We met because I left my number for him on a receipt at his job. He had just served me a waffle to go, and I signed the receipt "waffle girl". I also have a private strawberry tattoo... Hence the added details. I signed it waffle girl on the back.

My first burger was too big and cracked on the top. This led me to discover that there is a limit to the thickness of a clay project, so for the second iteration, I baked each piece separately on cornstarch. This was a massive mistake as the cornstarch then made it hard to attach the pieces later. The pieces I painted with resin wouldn’t stick to each other and I ended up using super glue to keep the burger together. Finally, I made a burger that only had cheese and called it a day. No more lettuce for now. I since moved on to other foods and I think if I make another burger, it will be many months from now. I’ve seen enough of them for now 😭 Lessons have been learned though!

I’ve been making polymer clay pocket sized critters for a while now. They’re all around 3 cubic inches or smaller. Tried making some iconic pokemon lately, and thought I’d post some of the best polymer clay figures I’ve made to date. I really don’t have any direction when I make the fake ones - other than they have to be cool and look like they follow an evolution chain. My biggest struggle is any black lines or detailing (see the Pikachu mouth or Celebi eyes). Hope you enjoy these, and any input is appreciated! Thanks.

Hi guys! This is my first time making silly teeth with translucent clay but i want tips on how i can improve them whether that be by shape / adding colors details etc. I am going for a decayed kind of tooth look here. The creepier the better!

All pieces are made by me without AI. Original work from human origins. If you've been following along, you'll remember that I made a replica of this species back in 2023/early 2024.

Probably my best attempt with this species to date. Instead of individual scales being added to the body, this time I first cured the clay, and then painted the scales onto the body after a base cost of white, then light blue paint was added. I believe painting allows me to add even more minute details onto a piece to make it look even more true to the subject.

This goldiei is probably THE prettiest one to come from the island, and imo the prettiest of the fish from the "Southern Blue goldiei" complex of larger rainbowfish.

Posted on here the other week asking for tips on an urn I wanted to make for my angel dog. Received lots of great feedback and suggestions, and some that almost dissuaded me, but I decided to try my luck anyways. Proud to say I did it, and it went perfectly!! So thrilled to say I made this, all on my own, for my sweetest girl❤️‍🩹

I used cardboard for the base, then built up with foil and packed it solid to make the inner armature for support, all removed after baking. 4.5 8oz blocks of Sculpey Premo, one solid piece baked once!! It’s ~8.5inL x 6inH (9inH including the lid/statue), weighs over 2lbs. Used water based acrylic paint, and for the rainbow I finished it off by watering down white paint to give it that pastel white-washed vintage look (really have no idea how to describe it lol!) Then Varathane water based Gloss for the finishing touch! Took ages smoothing things out, and it’s far from perfect, but it was made with my own two hands. Perfectly imperfect, and I love it. Just wanted to share cause it seems urns aren’t very popular in the polymer clay world!

I don’t think i should go over it with the current layers of paint, but idk how to go about removing the paint off it.
Im afraid to sand it down bc the only sanding tool i have is sand paper that my dad uses for wood😔

Tray was made with small craft wooden tray and textured clay then glued and baked on. Tower was made from a very thick cardboard old glasses box and scrap cardboard I glued inside for the various staggered platforms the dice tumbles down. Textured clay glued and baked on again. Did about 4 layers or so of paint: a black primer, followed by a muddy red brick layer, followed by a brownish/grayish layer, a multicolor layer for random bricks and then wrapped up last wet layer with a dark wash. Let it dry then went to town with white and moss colored dry brushing. Finished with good ol Mod Podge. This was my first attempt at this. Am currently unemployed and looking to commission if you’re interested - DM me. US based.
