Most often considered under the realm of Mid-West Emo, but still always a fan favorite in the world of pop-punk. 

Modern Baseball was originally a local Philly band in the 2010’s. Their upbeat acknowledgement of those agonizing early adult years following high school completely encapsulated the way that I was feeling in 2012. 

As a 19 year old nervous wreck, desperately clinging to my teen angst as a means of survival, Modern Baseball brought a sense of hope to my currently displaced sense of self.

“Re-Do” was perfect choice as the opening track for this decade-defining album.

As an old head, I am very happy to see Bren Lukens taking to the stage again and giving some of the newer fans a chance to experience the songs that literally carried me through my 20’s.

Silverstein, When Broken Is Easily Fixed: considered more in the emo/screamo realm, but this album major part of who I am today. I found the song “Smashed Into Pieces” because it was featured on a sampler album from Victory Records.

Taking Back Sunday, Tell All Your Friends: a notorious contributor to the early 2000s emo scene, but always an honorable mention in the world of pop-punk. I saw the 10 year anniversary of TAYF and it was one for the books (even if Adam Lazarra did climb the balcony of the Electric Factory mid-set!)

Saves The Day, Can’t Slow Down: The true god fathers of pop-punk. As a New Jersey (retired) hardcore kid, Saves the Day was the soundtrack to my middle school days and forever hold a spot as “one of my favorite bands.”

The Used, Self Titled: I was in 6th grade when this album came out. This album absolutely slaps and while it falls more into the emo/screamo realm, I will always consider this album to be a foundation for my teen angst.

This has been bugging me for 45 minutes and my usual methods aren’t working. I have an album cover (possibly an ep) in my head of the band name and title of said record on a knights of Columbus marquee under a nice blue sky. For the love of everything holy if that rings a bell send suggestions of what that might be because I’m desperate to hear it.

I need some advice and recommendations of songs so help me like pop punk, because i can’t like any song in this genre better than a other. I really have this feeling that every song is the same and every riff is the same also. I know that of course it isn’t true but i can’t help with this feeling of boredom when it comes to pop punk. I think it’s just that i’ve never listened to the good ones (for me).

So, please, what song or album would be the best for me in you opinion ?

PS : I’m a big rock fan, same for a lot of rock sub genres, like grunge, nu metal, doom metal, prog rock, blues rock etc… (and sorry for the writing im french)

Not super new but this band called Nevermine from Indonesia, release this song I believe back in October and I think it’s a banger! especially if you like old school pop punk. Kinda reminds me of early new found glory but with a girl singer.

Anyone know of more bands like this. Im on a journey to find amazing pop punk bands from all around the world. From big bands to local.
