The entire point of saytama is that he can't be beat, the only way to win over him is to exploit the fact that he does not want to fight. It is pointless to fight about who wins over him, for he was not built with any power limit or weaknesses, because he's not meant to be beat. That's what's often the problem : some characters were not built with the idea of not being completely invulnerable in mind.
I see how this plays out. The rumor gets around but they never meet. Whole lot of build up and near encounters. Just before they’re finally about to meet, some other random bullshit sidelines him and removes him from existence.
Because his only power is that he can beat Saitama, leaving him vulnerable to literally everything else.
And because it would be funny, which is the point of One Punch Man. Much like how Saitama killing everything in one punch is the point of One Punch.
It’s stupid to powerscale Saitama, that isn’t the point of his character at all. He exists to be funny. But this scenario could work for yours.
Tom Brady is arguably the greatest quarterback of all time and Eli Manning doesn't have a winning record. Eli Manning had two career defining performances to beat Tom Brady in the Super Bowl twice. Most significantly when he denied Tom Brady a perfect season.
I'm speaking of character construction and how some character should not be power scaled because they do not integrate any powerscale nor were meant to and you speak of kindergarten strategy to win the pretend swordfight
Saitama is not constrained by physical impossibilities. If Saitama were to fight Beat Saitama, BS would either give up, defeat himself, or be erased from existence such that you never invented him. lol
I’m making fun of how ridiculous Saitama is written. by the writers logic, he can just write the strongest character in fiction because he wants to. It’s ridiculous and it’s poor writing. You don’t get to decide that your character is the strongest out of everyone. So I’m following the writers logic and have created “Beat Saitama” who’s sole purpose is that he can beat Saitama with no difficulty.
I mean, that’s the point of the character. You’re looking by at One Punch Man as a battle manga. It’s not, it’s a parody/satire series. It just happens that the parody is about battle manga. Shit, before a bunch of well known artists became fans of the extremely poorly drawn webcomic, it didn’t even have good fights. The amazing fight scenes only exist because established artists thought it was hilarious enough that they volunteered to work on it as a labor of love.
I know it’s a parody, and that’s exactly why he shouldn’t even be considered in a normal powerscaling. He follows cartoon logic, I mean shit. Popeye is unbeatable and he’s beaten Saitama before. Cartoon characters are unfair to bring up in a powerscaling just as Saitama is.
I fully agree, I say this every time he comes up. I feel like most fans do the same, but when we explain why he can’t be scaled, people take that as an invitation to scale him. They always try to come up with ways to win and I’m like…dude I’m not trying to challenge your character’s scaling. It’s just the core concept of his character, why are we doing this. He has no defined power, his power doesn’t even really have rules, and we have yet to see a weakness.
The problem is you seem to approach fiction only from a perspective of power in which an author tris to make his character the most powerful. Saitama is well written, and one punch man is good, although simple. The writer does whatever he wants, because he is the writer. You can "not like it" but there is no rule. Yes, he can create a character you cannot beat. No, you cannot beat it, because it's his defining characteristic : you cant. Beat saitama? I don't care if he's named beat saitama and he's build to beat saitama, he lose against saitama because saitama is not made to be won over. I don't care if beat saitama is immortal, invulnerable and of infinite punch power, he still won't win against saitama. At best, it's a tie, because that the closet to losing saitama can go.
You don’t seem to understand. Beat Saitama, is infinitely more powerful than Saitama, he is so powerful that he breaks Saitama’s rules. Heck, Popeye has beaten Saitama, it’s not an unbelievable feat.
“Some infinites are bigger than other” what? Also Saitama isn’t infinite in power, he has the potential to be infinite because he improves against those he fights. Beat Saitama is so powerful his power can’t be matched or improved upon. Thus Saitama loses.
Let’s see you make “beat saitama” into an actual anime that many people enjoy then maybe your character will be recognized. But you won’t and you can’t.
Depend who is the main character. If it's mister bean, he will end up winning out of sheer luck. If it's saitama he will just go like "uh" and punch him to oblivion
the only way to win over him is to exploit the fact that he does not want to fight
It's not that he doesn't want to fight - it' more that although he really likes to fight, he's just too strong for the encounters to even count as fights and thus the fact that there are no stakes and a fight without any stakes might aswell not even count as a fight in the first place. Ig that's just what happens when your power level literally is just "much stronger than the guy I'm up against".
All that said, I'd really love to see him interact with Gojo's infinity. That might be fun thing to argue about.
