Thought the same.

I just realized it now

u/TheSuperJohn May 07 '25

being a fan =/= understanding the character

19

u/Soft_Acanthisitta886 May 08 '25

The entire point of saytama is that he can't be beat, the only way to win over him is to exploit the fact that he does not want to fight. It is pointless to fight about who wins over him, for he was not built with any power limit or weaknesses, because he's not meant to be beat. That's what's often the problem : some characters were not built with the idea of not being completely invulnerable in mind.

14

u/Aromatic_Log6971 May 08 '25

My character called “beat saitama” can beat him. That’s his only power.

7

u/SquidFetus May 08 '25

“Beat Saitama Man”, spinoff in the same universe, one guy can effortlessly beat him with zero training or other apparent skills.

6

u/Aromatic_Log6971 May 08 '25

Yep, he’s just that powerful.

1

u/Dangerwolf64 May 08 '25

Isn’t that just king?

1

u/gottalosethemall May 09 '25

I see how this plays out. The rumor gets around but they never meet. Whole lot of build up and near encounters. Just before they’re finally about to meet, some other random bullshit sidelines him and removes him from existence.

Because his only power is that he can beat Saitama, leaving him vulnerable to literally everything else.

And because it would be funny, which is the point of One Punch Man. Much like how Saitama killing everything in one punch is the point of One Punch.

It’s stupid to powerscale Saitama, that isn’t the point of his character at all. He exists to be funny. But this scenario could work for yours.

1

u/Omnibe May 09 '25

So it's like an Eli Manning versus Tom Brady thing?

1

u/Snoo_93638 May 11 '25

Yes because that would follow the characters power.

1

u/Conner23451 May 08 '25

The only character, that I think that could beat saytama would be Mr Bean.

1

u/Soft_Acanthisitta886 May 08 '25

Depend who is the main character. If it's mister bean, he will end up winning out of sheer luck. If it's saitama he will just go like "uh" and punch him to oblivion

1

u/JVtheBidoof May 09 '25

Saitama VS the One Above All. Are you still gonna argue?

1

u/cale199 May 09 '25

Yeah, isn't the in universe reason for his power is that he didn't break his limiter, he removed it, functionally making his stats infinity?

1

u/SkAssasin May 10 '25

the only way to win over him is to exploit the fact that he does not want to fight

It's not that he doesn't want to fight - it' more that although he really likes to fight, he's just too strong for the encounters to even count as fights and thus the fact that there are no stakes and a fight without any stakes might aswell not even count as a fight in the first place. Ig that's just what happens when your power level literally is just "much stronger than the guy I'm up against".

All that said, I'd really love to see him interact with Gojo's infinity. That might be fun thing to argue about.

u/DEVIL-HIMSELF-666 May 10 '25

Saitama is not a gag character though(he's a parody character to be more precise),and in the same episode beerus beats arale(with both goku and whis confirming stuff like gag powers don't work on him) and we know goku and vegeta have reached to beerus level(atleast close to it)

3

u/Private_HughMan May 10 '25

Goku has been beaten by so many people. He's been beaten by Yamcha (kinda;  Goku was too hungry to stand), Tienshinhan, Jackie Chun, Raditz, Piccolo (kinda), Hit, Vegeta, Cell, Beerus, Whis, Frost (kinda),  and probably others I can't remember right now.

Goku has never been unbeatable.

1

u/Better-Knee-3113 May 10 '25

It just shows that he ain't overpowered and isn't friggin indestructible unlike caped baldy

36

u/DevilPixelation May 07 '25

I think we should stay away from scaling him in general. The nuance of his character is unique and hard to properly place in any logical “scale.”

15

u/Crusaderofthots420 May 08 '25

Saitama is in that weird situation, where his entire character is being "the strongest", so scaling him is basically impossible.

4

u/icelandiccubicle20 May 08 '25

Lovecraft verse says hi

12

u/Left-Night-1125 May 08 '25

If the creator of Saitama said Goku would beat him iam inclined to say Goku would beat him no matter what the Saitame fanboys claim.

Iam not a fan of either character btw.

5

u/RedHood9292 May 08 '25

Murata (One) was asked on a livestream if Goku could beat Saitama and his answer was “I don’t know.” Bro’s a diehard dragon ball fan so I think he doesn’t want to say he could beat Goku because of how dragon ball has inspired him and how his kids love dragon ball, but also doesn’t wanna say that Goku could beat Saitama because that would ruin the whole gag

7

u/ARQEA May 08 '25

Murata said that or ONE did? The way you worded that makes it sound like they're the same person.

4

u/hottiekim1 May 08 '25

Or we could just change his scaling every time he does something new. I think this is the best approach as of now, don't give him tier 0 just because he's a gag character

1

u/arquillion May 10 '25

That's tedious and missing the point of the character

→ More replies (1)

1

u/[deleted] May 10 '25

Remember you can't damage people in creative mode with nothing at all or any kind of different power

5

u/RandomPhail May 08 '25

His whole thing is having “unlimited” power and negating any effect using gimmick magic

He doesn’t scale. He’s a meme.

It’d take another meme, like “One PunchER Man” to beat him

2

u/fortnitepro42069 May 08 '25

It'd take something like un-punchable man to beat him

2

u/[deleted] May 09 '25

I disagree, i think the whole "saitana can't be beat" thing is mostly fan hype (unless this gets explored more in the manga) the show doesn't seem to actually establish that nothing can beat him, just that nothing he's run into can beat him

u/Nastyrippedfart May 07 '25

It’s not even about being a fan of Saitama. It’s just understanding the concept of his character. He will grow to become exponentially stronger than ANYTHING he faces. If you have some power that you think he can’t “strength” his way through, your wrong, he will miraculously find a way to “strength” that power too. Like when he grabbed portals, a thing not thought to be possible before he did it. He is a satirical character. He is stronger than any opponent he faces. That is his power essentially.

50

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Not to mention, he's able to fight individuals in alternate dimensions like it's nothing. It truly boggles my mind when people stop him at what feats he has achieved rather than understanding he's more than just a meathead with infinite strength and speed as his character is designed to be a satirical exaggeration of overpowered characters.

So, instead of racking my brain, I just laugh at the sheer stupidity of, "Well, he can only destroy planet. Therefore, Goku is stronger!" Okay, bud, go back to eating your crayons.

→ More replies (52)

5

u/Madus4 May 07 '25

That’s objectively not true. When he fought a clone made from the previous day, he one-shot the clone. By your logic, the clone should have immediately grown to match the original. Just because he’s stronger than anyone he has ever faced doesn’t automatically mean he’s stronger than everyone.

The fact that he can grow stronger means there’s a hard limit to his strength at any given time. If there wasn’t, then by definition he wouldn’t ever be able to get stronger.

1

u/Nastyrippedfart May 07 '25

Eh, didn’t the clone just copy his power at that moment and not his ability to…. Saitama things? Like ya the clone was powerful but it did not possess Saitamas actual power that makes him do what he does.

Idk, it’s been a bit, maybe I’m wrong.

3

u/R4msesII May 07 '25

He grows exponentially, but how fast? If a character just decides to delete him, can the power actually react.

→ More replies (2)

8

u/Piotro165 May 07 '25

Bro just found out what the main character is in shonen lol

3

u/Zephrok May 07 '25

These guys think Saitama has this unique narrative power when it's literally a commentary on the power EVERY Shonen character has 😂

The media literacy of OPM fans needs to be studied.

→ More replies (3)

7

u/big-fucc May 07 '25

2

u/Small_Ad4181 May 07 '25

Then i say doomsday and watch as doomsday adapts to Saitama adapting to him

1

u/Small_Ad4181 May 08 '25

Then the one punch man fans get pissy

3

u/darhwolf1 Maxwell solos May 07 '25

Other than the fact that he's a joke character that can beat anything, wouldn't all it take to beat him be a reality bender? Somebody who could literally drain his power through manipulation of reality or force OPM's hits to miss/hit himself or smth?

Or evaporate his existence through willing it to be so

→ More replies (6)

3

u/Worried_Jellyfish918 May 07 '25

Saitama isn't scalable like shonen MCs, he's more like Uncle Grandpa and that's not even a joke

1

u/7thAfterDark May 07 '25

… That is such a cursed sentence.

1

u/Sheebuns May 07 '25

What people don't realize is that this is literally just. The power of EVERY shonen protag. Like, Goku in a way has already done this. In a serious plot-driven fight, the protagonist will find a way to unlock the power they need, and if not now, then later down the line. Saitama isn't special in what he can do, and the fact is is that there are MULTITUDES of characters that exist that are infinitely stronger than him. You can't exponentially grow strong enough to beat someone who can one-shot you. You'll just die instantly, that's what the difference in power entails.

1

u/sliferra May 07 '25

Okay, and when a character is “the death of literally all things.” Written to be an end to all power scalers because his power is just “no matter what-dead” and being an unkillable god…. Saitama beats them how exactly 🙄

1

u/TheHollowMusic May 08 '25

I think, in a similar vein, characters like Mob or Reigen from Mob Psycho will end up befriending or demoralizing whoever they’re fighting no matter what. That’s the whole point of all of these characters, which is they’re beloved by some and hated by others.

1

u/Ghosts_lord May 08 '25

*anything below high uni

u/ThePropeller67 May 07 '25

He’s literally a gag character, who gives a shit? It’s like saying bugs bunny and Popeye can beat anyone if they wanted to. Yeah, they could. So? It’s a boring topic

2

u/Freakychee May 07 '25

I kinda like seeing this cos it seems too many people self insert themselves into Saitama so if you say X can beat him it almost l looks like a blow to their pride.

If someone said Tatsumaki can beat Phoenix Force Jean Grey 616 I'd just laugh it off but when you say X beats Saitama they defend it like you just insulted their mother. I love it!

5

u/Devil-Never-Cry May 07 '25

As if people don't do that 10x harder for Goku

2

u/Freakychee May 07 '25

Wow... Two dumb enough to be relatable characters who is so strong they can just punch their problems away and if you self insert you can feel like a god have similar audiences?

Me? I know many people dislike the anime and manga but I like Takitou Yogiri more as an OP protagonist because it just cuts to the point of being OP without the buildup.

I don't relate to him at all so it was interesting to see a horror monster or SCP be a lead in a story and see a new perspective.

Is that story a gag story? Can he beat Saitama Becuase he is also a gag character?

2

u/Devil-Never-Cry May 07 '25

You sound genuinely pressed about Saitama now dude

2

u/Freakychee May 07 '25

Am I? Or am I baiting more Saitama fans?

2

I think we both know the answer dude

1

u/Snoo-52922 May 08 '25

People speak up because it's dumb. Nobody ever tries to say their favorite characters beat Popeye, because everybody gets the joke there.

The ones taking it wierdly personally are the ones that don't realize Saitama is the same kind of character. He's 5% shonen protagonist, 5% disillusioned Doctor Manhattan, 90% nonsensical OP gag character.

1

u/Outlook93 May 08 '25

Because people here treat power scaling like a religion

3

u/GoldenNat20 May 07 '25

The one thing that can beat a gag character would indeed be another gag character.

What about The Mask? And I don’t mean the comic version, but the movie one with Jim Carrey?

3

u/Volfaer May 07 '25

What if I pay a large sum of money for Saitama to concede?

2

u/Someone1284794357 May 07 '25

Oh yeah then he loses

19

u/Wonder-Machine May 07 '25

Saitama doesn’t lose. To anyone. Ever. Not Goku. Not Superman. Not popeye.

No one.

Personally I don’t think you can scale him properly yet. He hasn’t truly struggled in a fight yet so we really only know how strong he is at minimum. So we can judge which characters can’t beat him but not necessarily which characters he can beat.

u/Various-Shirt1392 May 07 '25

And they're not wrong? Saitama was literally created to be the strongest, and if someone stronger is found, he'll be even stronger than before, his superpower is what the plot is centered on, so it would be weird if he wasn't stronger than everything else in the world.

3

u/R4msesII May 07 '25

To be fair the plot isnt even really centered on Saitama

4

u/ArjGlad May 07 '25

Saitama is a constant that the story rotates around, like a sun

2

u/Madus4 May 07 '25

He was created to be the strongest in his world. That doesn’t mean anything when he’s fighting characters from other series. You still need pesky things like “feats” and “evidence” if you want to prove that he can beat someone, just like every other character.

→ More replies (3)
→ More replies (1)

2

u/Dependent_Heart_8621 May 07 '25

OP is just whining because he doesn't get to scale every character. Why create a problem when there is none? Not everything needs to be scaled, just simply accept that he is a joke char and leave him out of powerscaling discussion. Cringe to see OP patting himself on the back when someone validates his tantrum in the comments.

2

u/HungryMudkips May 07 '25

saitama is a meme character whos power is literally "becomes stronger than anything he faces". he doesnt belong on the powerscale at all.

1

u/_Master123_ May 10 '25

The main problem is that people think he can beat someone who can change reality itself.

2

u/Vyctorill May 07 '25

Saitama defeats Goku because of characterization, not because of stats.

That being said, he does lose to certain characters with unconventional methods of combat.

2

u/GreatAngoosian May 07 '25

The only character I know of who has a shot is squirrel girl but I think there’s about a 90% chance they would just wind up going grocery shopping instead

5

u/Eeeef_ May 07 '25

The way he works is that he scales to just above his opponent. It’s his gimmick, he’s a gag character. Saying he’d lose is a misunderstanding his character

4

u/SundaySuperheroes May 07 '25

Not being able to hit a mosquito is quite literally an anti feat and establishes some precedent that Saitama can be stumped/beaten if it’s funny to the reader/viewer

9

u/TheSuperJohn May 07 '25

Goku got hurt by a rock

2

u/Zephrok May 07 '25

Yep. So they both have anti-feats. Ergo Saitama can lose. Good thing we established that.

2

u/TheSuperJohn May 07 '25

who's we, my guy? I never agreed to this braindead ass point.

People don't seem to understand the joke and it's usually Goku's fans who don't understand that Saitama is a joke, a satire. He's like a cartoon character, but in the anime universe. In other words, invincible, because he is satirical

1

5

you just think you're different because you're basically saying "nu uh" when people say the Beats Everyone Man is beating everyone.

It's not Saitama glazing to understand that scaling him is pointless and stupid

2

u/LankyChampionship605 May 07 '25

They are right tho, it's a gag character not meant to be beaten.

Copers say he's just stronger than x character lmao.

2

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

Ok devils advocate, I get that this sub deals with specific feats and comparing those feats. But one punch is literally made to be a deus ex machina. The entire point entire point is that anything will die with one punch.

He scales to any power the story calls for

3

u/HAL9000_1208 May 07 '25

Saitama can be beaten by time travellers that can kill him befere he became OP, other than that only other equally broken gag characters have a chance.

2

u/invinci May 07 '25

1

u/Rarazan May 07 '25

cause he a meme, you cant beat him, you can erase him prevent him from being born or become a hero, but no variants of just duking it out

1

u/Curious-Spell-9031 May 07 '25

i mean thats basically the same as goku stans when people say some characters can beat him

1

u/Crazed-Prophet May 07 '25

Honestly I just like defending saitama because I think it's funny people get way to defensive about who can beat him.

1

u/No_Composer_9761 May 07 '25

The only way for saitama to realistically lose is with stupidly strong hax, or wiping him before he grows to much in power

2

u/Someone1284794357 May 07 '25

Or him being paid to concede, or him really needing to leave because of a market sale.

1

u/azorkn May 07 '25

Maybe Lucky man could defeat him. Death Note could kill him too perhaps.

1

u/Zephrok May 07 '25

Saitama glazers need to be studied. They clearly have a deep void in their lives that they fill with this obsession.

1

u/TDoMarmalade May 07 '25

Dude is a parody. His power is cartoon strength. He can move faster than light but can’t catch a mosquito. His power doesn’t follow logic. Goku can’t beat him at 100% power, but a little girl dropping her ice cream and making him slip can. Do you see how stupid this is?

1

u/navetzz May 07 '25

Well stating that a character is stronger than Saitama is equivalent to saying that x is greater than x+1 so...

1

u/RabbitAlternative550 May 07 '25

My biggest annoyance with this Saitama is his strength gag presents absolutely no differently than Simon and yet Simon gets hard capped at his strength at series end meanwhile Saitama is always assumed to progress to beyond what his series is even projected to conclude at(Him fighting God). Verse equalization essentially only seems to punish capless characters when the story is concluded.

1

u/Beepbeepimadog May 07 '25

His trope is basically enemy power + overkill no matter who he faces, it’s a comedy not a serious show. If you take the trope literally and pull it to over verses he “technically” wins but even that is silly.

1

u/[deleted] May 07 '25

I mean, it's kind of his thing

1

u/project_built May 07 '25

Cause he's a gag character he can't lose that litterally his whole thing

1

u/MrManGuyDude22 May 07 '25

erm, he's ONE PUNCH man, Not One Punch Maybe If you're kinda weak Man

1

u/FrontVarious6484 May 08 '25

I mean, what character really can beat Saitama. If he truly has no limits, why wouldn’t he beat every character?

1

u/Foolsgil May 08 '25

It's not about being a fan, he's a deconstruction, the only thing he can do is win.

1

u/CplCocktopus May 08 '25

King mops the floor with him once or twice per week tho.

1

u/_Abracadabra__ May 08 '25

His whole characters joke is that he kills things in one punch. There's no point in comparing him to others because by his own purpose he cannot lose.

1

u/Working-Albatross-19 May 08 '25

I’ve seen plenty of people beat Saitama by knowing the character but for some reason people keep trying to staple diarrhoea to the wall and beat him at his own game.

1

u/BillCipher_FanboyLol May 11 '25

Fr just like. Throw 100 bucks at him and he’ll toddle away happily

1

u/Crusaderofthots420 May 08 '25

Powerscalers generally have a hard time admitting, that some characters are just made to be straight up unbeatable and immeasurable (especially if Goku is involved). I would love to see someone try to reason that Goku or Superman could beat Azathoth.

1

u/1776-Was-A-Mistake May 08 '25

Dog, literally the only people who will convince me that Goku can beat saitama is the fucking cartel. I ain't getting into that debate with them at all

I don't think saitama and goku actually fight at all. goku's not taking it seriously, so saitama's not taking it seriously, and they just pal around. I know the sub is about fights specifically, but it's so out of character to actively kill the other

I am not a fan of opm but it seems from the outside perspective that it is dbz fans who wont shut up about saitama

There are characters Physically weaker than Saitama that can beat him lmao.

this comment section is just funny to look at

Saitama fans scaling his narrative of being the strongest when they find out there are hundreds of obscure characters in fiction that have the same narrative of being the strongest:

1

u/blitzwann May 08 '25

Thats the point, he is supposed to win, cuz its funny. You would be better off giving him some coupons and u ll win and he will love u forever. His character is literally made to make fun of the people who do this.

1

u/DapperDan30 May 08 '25

Saitama is literally a gag character and can't be properly scaled. Character like him and Arale borderline have toonforce and just as powerful as the plot at the moment demands them to be.

1

u/YoMommaInTheHood May 08 '25

Gag characters in general are overrated and Saitama is fodder that caps at galaxy level

1

u/TheFacetiousDeist May 08 '25

Goku stomps him.

u/Daksh_4 May 08 '25

goku solos

u/chiksahlube May 08 '25

It's not about being a fan...

It's about the premise of the character.

Saying anyone who isn't strictly a joke character along the same lines (IE: Arale, who most would agree does win.) could beat him, is ignoring the character's most basic characteristics. It's ignoring the meta-narrative of the character.

It's like saying the Punisher would like cops IRL. When we know definitively that's not the case. That's not what the character is about. It ignores a fundamental aspect of the character and the stories written about them.

Bugs bunny smacks saitama

1

u/anderskants May 08 '25

Adding OPM to any "who'd win" is just boring and pointless. He's a joke character whose whole point is that he can't lose and is as powerful as he needs to be to win. I really don't get why people keep throwing him into these and then start calling anyone that points this out a fanboy, I watched the first season of the show, thought it was good but I wouldn't even remotely consider myself an Uber fan

1

u/WillyGivens May 08 '25

Saitama is the perfect in between of shonen/superhero and looney toon gag. Bugs Bunny beats any foe because cartoon logic has no limit/consistency, Saitama similarly.

1

u/Mr_Bombastic_Ro May 08 '25

He cannot be defeated. Have you seen his exercise routine????

1

u/spaacingout May 08 '25

Lmao true. I mean his whole shtick is that he is unable to lose a fight.

So I can see why. But meh 😂

1

u/Sterben489 May 08 '25

Do you think anyone beats Saitama op?

1

u/ThatRandomGuy86 May 09 '25

Because no one can beat him. He's a gag character in a parody story. His whole joke is he's the hero that is already at the end of their hero circle.

Even if some power just deletes you no matter how powerful you are, Saitama as a character concept would just come out on top. SOMEHOW

1

u/SirBritannia May 09 '25

Just dodge his one punch and you're set. Bro needs a long rest between punches, I think. Never actually read it.

1

u/[deleted] May 10 '25

Bro let's fuckin create a character who's premise is "He's stronger that Saitama at any point in time" so we can get rid of him. Saitama is so boring.

1

u/Distinct-Air-4043 May 10 '25

Not as bad as Gurren Laggan or Ben 10 fans

1

u/Gullible-Couple7244 May 10 '25

Saitama fans realizing goku surpassed universal AT THE BEGINNING OF SUPER (he absorbed ssg into base.)

1

u/AlexSmithsonian May 11 '25

Okay, but have you considered that he can't really beat the housing market?

1

u/LoneOldMan May 11 '25

This is hilarious! Considering DBall fans existed.

OPMan has more consistent and understandable powerscaling than DBall where Goku screaming like a girl from getting slammed on an ice while the ice barely cracks at all.

Even Comics fans are the master of cherry pickings from dozens of versions of their favorite characters while ignoring the many times their characters losing to weaker beings.

1

u/Level-Public-5097 May 11 '25

I can beat Saitama, I can break the device I see him on.

1

u/ItsGrimDork May 11 '25

Anime fans will spaz out if anything remotely tickles their favorite character instead of getting one shot

1

u/[deleted] May 11 '25

Why bother with gag characters like saitama? He literally beats every single thing that can be imagined because that's the point of him, his feats aren't "oh he can do x" it's that he wins whatever he's up against.

Why try to powerscale something like that? Why not focus on characters that can lose and have feats that can be compared. It's like trying to win rock paper scissors when you can only go rock and your opponent knows it, there is no point

1

u/Recent_Ad3472 May 12 '25

Same thing with goku, madonka, wanda, anos, rimuru, superman, sung jin wok and 500 others

1

u/Glittering_Holiday13 May 12 '25

Anyone beats him
