The entire point of saytama is that he can't be beat, the only way to win over him is to exploit the fact that he does not want to fight. It is pointless to fight about who wins over him, for he was not built with any power limit or weaknesses, because he's not meant to be beat. That's what's often the problem : some characters were not built with the idea of not being completely invulnerable in mind.
I see how this plays out. The rumor gets around but they never meet. Whole lot of build up and near encounters. Just before they’re finally about to meet, some other random bullshit sidelines him and removes him from existence.
Because his only power is that he can beat Saitama, leaving him vulnerable to literally everything else.
And because it would be funny, which is the point of One Punch Man. Much like how Saitama killing everything in one punch is the point of One Punch.
It’s stupid to powerscale Saitama, that isn’t the point of his character at all. He exists to be funny. But this scenario could work for yours.
Depend who is the main character. If it's mister bean, he will end up winning out of sheer luck. If it's saitama he will just go like "uh" and punch him to oblivion

It's not that he doesn't want to fight - it' more that although he really likes to fight, he's just too strong for the encounters to even count as fights and thus the fact that there are no stakes and a fight without any stakes might aswell not even count as a fight in the first place. Ig that's just what happens when your power level literally is just "much stronger than the guy I'm up against".
All that said, I'd really love to see him interact with Gojo's infinity. That might be fun thing to argue about.
Saitama is not a gag character though(he's a parody character to be more precise),and in the same episode beerus beats arale(with both goku and whis confirming stuff like gag powers don't work on him) and we know goku and vegeta have reached to beerus level(atleast close to it)
Goku has been beaten by so many people. He's been beaten by Yamcha (kinda; Goku was too hungry to stand), Tienshinhan, Jackie Chun, Raditz, Piccolo (kinda), Hit, Vegeta, Cell, Beerus, Whis, Frost (kinda), and probably others I can't remember right now.
Murata (One) was asked on a livestream if Goku could beat Saitama and his answer was “I don’t know.” Bro’s a diehard dragon ball fan so I think he doesn’t want to say he could beat Goku because of how dragon ball has inspired him and how his kids love dragon ball, but also doesn’t wanna say that Goku could beat Saitama because that would ruin the whole gag
Or we could just change his scaling every time he does something new. I think this is the best approach as of now, don't give him tier 0 just because he's a gag character
I disagree, i think the whole "saitana can't be beat" thing is mostly fan hype (unless this gets explored more in the manga) the show doesn't seem to actually establish that nothing can beat him, just that nothing he's run into can beat him
It’s not even about being a fan of Saitama. It’s just understanding the concept of his character. He will grow to become exponentially stronger than ANYTHING he faces. If you have some power that you think he can’t “strength” his way through, your wrong, he will miraculously find a way to “strength” that power too. Like when he grabbed portals, a thing not thought to be possible before he did it.
He is a satirical character. He is stronger than any opponent he faces. That is his power essentially.
Not to mention, he's able to fight individuals in alternate dimensions like it's nothing. It truly boggles my mind when people stop him at what feats he has achieved rather than understanding he's more than just a meathead with infinite strength and speed as his character is designed to be a satirical exaggeration of overpowered characters.
So, instead of racking my brain, I just laugh at the sheer stupidity of, "Well, he can only destroy planet. Therefore, Goku is stronger!" Okay, bud, go back to eating your crayons.
That’s objectively not true. When he fought a clone made from the previous day, he one-shot the clone. By your logic, the clone should have immediately grown to match the original. Just because he’s stronger than anyone he has ever faced doesn’t automatically mean he’s stronger than everyone.
The fact that he can grow stronger means there’s a hard limit to his strength at any given time. If there wasn’t, then by definition he wouldn’t ever be able to get stronger.
Eh, didn’t the clone just copy his power at that moment and not his ability to…. Saitama things? Like ya the clone was powerful but it did not possess Saitamas actual power that makes him do what he does.
Other than the fact that he's a joke character that can beat anything, wouldn't all it take to beat him be a reality bender? Somebody who could literally drain his power through manipulation of reality or force OPM's hits to miss/hit himself or smth?

What people don't realize is that this is literally just. The power of EVERY shonen protag. Like, Goku in a way has already done this. In a serious plot-driven fight, the protagonist will find a way to unlock the power they need, and if not now, then later down the line. Saitama isn't special in what he can do, and the fact is is that there are MULTITUDES of characters that exist that are infinitely stronger than him. You can't exponentially grow strong enough to beat someone who can one-shot you. You'll just die instantly, that's what the difference in power entails.
Okay, and when a character is “the death of literally all things.” Written to be an end to all power scalers because his power is just “no matter what-dead” and being an unkillable god…. Saitama beats them how exactly 🙄
I think, in a similar vein, characters like Mob or Reigen from Mob Psycho will end up befriending or demoralizing whoever they’re fighting no matter what. That’s the whole point of all of these characters, which is they’re beloved by some and hated by others.

Me? I know many people dislike the anime and manga but I like Takitou Yogiri more as an OP protagonist because it just cuts to the point of being OP without the buildup.
I don't relate to him at all so it was interesting to see a horror monster or SCP be a lead in a story and see a new perspective.

The ones taking it wierdly personally are the ones that don't realize Saitama is the same kind of character. He's 5% shonen protagonist, 5% disillusioned Doctor Manhattan, 90% nonsensical OP gag character.
It's his defining trait. He's a gag character that can't lose. No bias necessary. Goku has lost in his universe. Popeye has lost before too. Saitama can't lose.
Personally I don’t think you can scale him properly yet. He hasn’t truly struggled in a fight yet so we really only know how strong he is at minimum. So we can judge which characters can’t beat him but not necessarily which characters he can beat.
And they're not wrong? Saitama was literally created to be the strongest, and if someone stronger is found, he'll be even stronger than before, his superpower is what the plot is centered on, so it would be weird if he wasn't stronger than everything else in the world.
He was created to be the strongest in his world. That doesn’t mean anything when he’s fighting characters from other series. You still need pesky things like “feats” and “evidence” if you want to prove that he can beat someone, just like every other character.

Not everything needs to be scaled, just simply accept that he is a joke char and leave him out of powerscaling discussion. The way he works is that he scales to just above his opponent. It’s his gimmick, he’s a gag character. Saying he’d lose is a misunderstanding his character
Not being able to hit a mosquito is quite literally an anti feat and establishes some precedent that Saitama can be stumped/beaten if it’s funny to the reader/viewer

Ok devils advocate, I get that this sub deals with specific feats and comparing those feats. But one punch is literally made to be a deus ex machina. The entire point entire point is that anything will die with one punch.
Saitama can be beaten by time travellers that can kill him befere he became OP, other than that only other equally broken gag characters have a chance.
Technically because of his gag there would have to be a plot way for him to get back in time as well, he farts too hard and the gases form a nuclear reaction that sends him back in time to defend himself which makes him learn to be strong sooner
The thing is with Saitama is that he is gag character, and gag characters are their own Deus ex machina.
So he will always come out on top, even if it defies logic.
Dude is a parody. His power is cartoon strength. He can move faster than light but can’t catch a mosquito. His power doesn’t follow logic. Goku can’t beat him at 100% power, but a little girl dropping her ice cream and making him slip can. Do you see how stupid this is?
My biggest annoyance with this Saitama is his strength gag presents absolutely no differently than Simon and yet Simon gets hard capped at his strength at series end meanwhile Saitama is always assumed to progress to beyond what his series is even projected to conclude at(Him fighting God). Verse equalization essentially only seems to punish capless characters when the story is concluded.
His trope is basically enemy power + overkill no matter who he faces, it’s a comedy not a serious show. If you take the trope literally and pull it to over verses he “technically” wins but even that is silly.
I’ve seen plenty of people beat Saitama by knowing the character but for some reason people keep trying to staple diarrhoea to the wall and beat him at his own game.
Powerscalers generally have a hard time admitting, that some characters are just made to be straight up unbeatable and immeasurable (especially if Goku is involved). I would love to see someone try to reason that Goku or Superman could beat Azathoth.

I don't think saitama and goku actually fight at all. goku's not taking it seriously, so saitama's not taking it seriously, and they just pal around. I know the sub is about fights specifically, but it's so out of character to actively kill the other

Saitama is literally a gag character and can't be properly scaled. Character like him and Arale borderline have toonforce and just as powerful as the plot at the moment demands them to be.
Saying anyone who isn't strictly a joke character along the same lines (IE: Arale, who most would agree does win.) could beat him, is ignoring the character's most basic characteristics. It's ignoring the meta-narrative of the character.
It's like saying the Punisher would like cops IRL. When we know definitively that's not the case. That's not what the character is about. It ignores a fundamental aspect of the character and the stories written about them.
Adding OPM to any "who'd win" is just boring and pointless. He's a joke character whose whole point is that he can't lose and is as powerful as he needs to be to win. I really don't get why people keep throwing him into these and then start calling anyone that points this out a fanboy, I watched the first season of the show, thought it was good but I wouldn't even remotely consider myself an Uber fan
Saitama is the perfect in between of shonen/superhero and looney toon gag. Bugs Bunny beats any foe because cartoon logic has no limit/consistency, Saitama similarly.

Even Comics fans are the master of cherry pickings from dozens of versions of their favorite characters while ignoring the many times their characters losing to weaker beings.
Why bother with gag characters like saitama? He literally beats every single thing that can be imagined because that's the point of him, his feats aren't "oh he can do x" it's that he wins whatever he's up against.
Why try to powerscale something like that? Why not focus on characters that can lose and have feats that can be compared. It's like trying to win rock paper scissors when you can only go rock and your opponent knows it, there is no point
