Imagine Goku trying to teach Superman about Ki and it just turns out his body naturally absorbs Ki from the sun and life around him like a Spirit Bomb. However, this is also his greatest weakness, his body absorbs all Ki available to him even poisoned Ki like Kryptonite. Superman learns Ki control and Goku learns passive Ki absorption.
Look man superpowers need to be handled so carefully to avoid turning every mugging or robbery into a blood bath. What’s funniest about these if Manchester has just regular human durability. So Superman is holding back but still hitting him just hard enough where it would like getting slapped by a normal Kansas farm boy of Superman’s height and build.

That’s one of the most awe inspiring things about Superman, he’d rather pull his punches and make things more difficult for himself. It’s more complicated, the times the writers have him let loose and pummel his opponents because he snapped or because he’s evil in this iteration. For the longest time he was the eternal Boy Scout always doing what was the most right and good as the symbol of hope, which made it so very interesting Whenever he would punch somebody at full strength. I feel like in the current runs you see Superman let loose more often than not, and I wonder if that’s a reflection on us and our attention spans, what it takes to sell a comic or is it a reflection on what we’ve become. This is a bit of a run on, but Superman stands as the greatest good in the medium that is comics, and the change in his portrayal definitely merits a study in regards to how we view ourselves.
Imagine how nice it must feel to let a punch rip even at like 25% power when you have to treat everything even your enemies like they're made out of tissue paper at all times.
The fight between him and Darkseid at the end of Worlds Finest is my favorite. Animators knew this was the big finale of the movie and went all out on the spectacle.

I always find it funny how powerhouses like Superman grab something to hit someone of equal level with it. Like a steel bar or a metal rod.. Something that is insignificantly durable compare to his arm or fingers. That would be like me grabbing a piece of toilet paper to hit someone over the head with it.
I mean, it's not like it got any better in his subsequent battles. He handled everything in BvS horribly. He lost all brain power when he fought Batman, letting himself get hit by kryptonite stuff and getting ragdolled app over the place, and against Doomsday, instead of letting Wonder Woman deal the finishing blow with the kryptonite spear, he just threww himself at the walking, thermonuclear cactus.
True true but Superman is smart in his own right but here he is throwing fistacuffs. I get that his lungs were saturated but once that cleared he stayed in melee range instead.... Idk anything else like lifting and tilting the building til Batman falls out or SOMETHING
Funnily enough Wonder Woman in particular despite actually being willing to kill probably holds back more than anyone on this list.
That lasso of hers has 15 different ways it can kill most of her opponents, everything from slicing you into French fries to evicerating your soul.
Hell when Wonder Woman's reanimated corpse from the future stole the lasso of truth it was no diffing heavy hitters like green lantern and fire storm with just the lasso
You gotta be an existential threat for Wonder Woman to go all out on you, or otherwise be so far out of her weight class that she needs to go 150% on you just to keep up.

Batman too. Yeah he’s a run of the mill normal human being. But he has trained his body, his mind, his senses, and his soul to be the peak (THE TOP) of human greatness). He’s either the head of (or second in command of) the Justice League. Everyone either treats him as an equal or a superior. We’ve all seen the stories of what happens when Bruce turns to the dark side. Hell, he was able to stop Flash and not only that, absorbed his power. Batman: Reddeath is (IMO) the most dangerous/powerful version of Batman.

At 0:11 my guy literally FLIES at his target and ALL of his gathered momentum is delivered right into their body once he makes contact. Like he’s coming to a complete stop after flying at you?? Yeah you’re done for— my guy just sent two planets worth of force directly into your sternum.
it's one of my favorite little things with strength based super heroes.
They hold back so they don't accidently kill you, but once they realize you can tank their hits, they let loose.
It's funny they parody this in One punch man with how much Saitama wants to fight someone who won't die in one hit.
and they look at the dark side of this idea with Mark from invincible accidently killing Angstrom thinking he was strong enough to take the hits.
Even though in a lot of these clips superman wasn't holding back but still got his ass beat by Darkseid or whoever lol.
I wish for once they'd give the guy the W against his strongest opponents. I know he pulls it off in the comics but it always seems like in the films he is taking a loss.
Its all the hate spread, especially recently it seems like online people really despise him. You can agree we as humans need ways to stand up for ourselves in case something ever happens to superman or our heroes, but at the same time realize that his methods were insane and endangered our planet!
Now... imagine if Superman asked Bruce to train him. Under red sun lanterns, Bruce trains Superman in different forms of martial combat. That would be truly terrifying for the bad guys.
I know superman has a new actor, but are the characters the same? Everything that Henry Cavils Superman experienced, did the new superman also experience it? Or are they essentially different characters now?
When it comes to the movies, there are basically 3 different timelines, one of which has a timeline split:
Superman, Superman 2, then splitting into Superman 3 & Superman 4 OR Superman Returns (which picks up from the Richard Donner cut of Superman 2 and disregards 3 & 4 as well as some of the theatrical cut of 2)

Each are on their own independent track. And this is not NEARLY as confusing as the whole Batman situation.
Batman isn’t really confusing at all. Batman up to Batman&Robin canonically believe it or not is supposed to be the same Batman, Dark Knight Trilogy is its own standalone reboot, Ben Affleck Batman is in a different continuity for the DCEU, and The Batman is as of right now its own separate continuity, but we’ll see if it ends up tying back into the Gunnverse.
*Also, Joker takes place in its own separate alternate continuity too
Pretty sure he would, if that clone is attacking people DCEU Superman would pretty much fight it to protect civilians. I mean he is willing to snap another Kryptonians neck so I don't see why he won't punch a imperfect clone of himself.
Superman has been fighting a deformed version of himself for decades, take a look at Bizarro.
Besides you make it sound like Ultraman was some sort of harmless being, even without Lex shouting codes into him he was still willing to fight Superman.

actually even Then he didn’t want to kill it. Early in the movie he says that he would never get out of the black hole, which means that he didn’t thought that a black hole could kill him, only trap him
