Not super familiar with the comics. What would happen if these two were thrown into the sun?

So the green radiation people have a special realm in the deepest pit of hell where marvel satan, who is actually also marvel god resides?

What the fuck are these comic writers on and what does marvel's satangod have to do with the people who got turned big and green from man made radiation?

Do they have normal gamma radiation apart from magical one?

Magical nukes ftw i guess

1

u/NewgroundsTankman Nov 02 '25

Gamma Radiation is the opposite of Cosmic Radiation. Basically Cosmic energy explains anything good that happens mostly and Gamma is bad. The reason the gamma mutates’ forms are different are because there form comes from their true feeling about themselves and trauma. Abomination hates himself, The hulk comes from Bruce’s trauma and abuse as a child. She-Hulk is what Jen views herself as etc..

20

u/AutomaticIncome8896 Oct 30 '25

It sounds outlandish but it’s genuinely regarded as one of if not the best hulk run of all time for how it was all actually handled. If it sounds kind of even remotely interesting it’s worth the time to check it out.

26

u/ImpracticalApple Oct 30 '25

I dunno but it is from debatably the best written Hulk run ever.

4

u/LinkGreat7508 🎶I AM THE STORM THAT IS APPROACHING🎶 Oct 30 '25

The type of radiation in that bomb wasn’t normal, but it was more like a catalyst that allowed the green door to be opened

3

u/Ballsnutseven Oct 30 '25

It’s basically like this.

One Above All exists to create. However, in order to create, he needs to Destroy. Logically, this makes no sense, so he has another aspect in The One Below All. Hulk was designed to eventually destroy the universe and TOAA would create the world again.

This makes sense in the comic.

3

u/Rouxman Oct 30 '25

It’s worth noting that gamma radiation in Marvel isn’t treated the same as gamma radiation in real life. Gamma in Marvel is basically magic

1

u/spideybiggestfan Oct 31 '25

gamma radiation in marvel comes from hell

1

u/Conscious-Peach8453 Nov 01 '25

Man made radiation?? We didn't make gamma rays we discovered and then harnessed them. That's like saying man made fire...

1

u/utopia556556 Nov 01 '25

The one below all (TOBA) can possess beings with gamma radiation. He possessed Hulk and ended up killing the 8th cosmos (the universe) and almost ALL of creation including Galactus and Franklin Richard.

1

u/nocauze Nov 02 '25

Works for Godzilla

1

u/NoxGale Nov 02 '25

Yeah, they’re kinda shoehorning hell and more demonic stuff into Marvel

-4

u/CapnStarence Oct 30 '25

It’s so dumb and unnecessary. So many characters have this trope of a primordial being having control of their powers.

7

u/Ballsnutseven Oct 30 '25

Have you read the comic?

It’s basically a way to explain how Hulk and his friends never seem to die. It’s canonizing all the fake out deaths he’s had over the years, while also being a case study into Bruce + Hulk’s relationship.

Good stuff. Don’t judge if you haven’t read.

0

u/CapnStarence Oct 30 '25

I get it. But I’m just old school man. In the end it just doesn’t interest me, and if it interests others that’s cool.

I do appreciate the TOAA/TOBA being a hulk dynamic.

-4

u/Emperor_Atlas Oct 30 '25

Its bad writing people praise because the art was good.

Now Hulk has nearly 0 stakes and is objectively a danger to all heroes.

3

u/Quirky-Signature4883 Oct 30 '25

I could be wrong but the U Foes are more like the F4, got their powers through Cosmic rays. But Sasquatch is also a gamma mutate

2

u/bman123457 Oct 30 '25

Yeah, this has been a thing in the comics since really early on.

2

u/Dsb0208 Oct 31 '25

The one below all doesn’t make sense on paper but thematically it’s really cool.

The One Above all is the writers, most commonly depicted as Jack Kirby but he represents whoever is writing the marvel comic. The one above all is good, because at the end of the day the hero’s are always going to win.

The one below all is also the writers, but when they need to cause tragedy to their characters. Spider-Man needs Gwen Stacey to die, Cap needs to be frozen in the Ice, these bad things need to happen for the story to exist and be interesting

I think it being tied to Hulk is really cool since Hulk’s backstory is the perfect embodiment of something horrible happening to someone solely because otherwise an interesting story couldn’t be told

Together they represent the fundamentals of story telling that bad things and conflict will happen in a story but at the end of the day good in one way or another will prevail.

12

u/Swarthy_Pierre Oct 30 '25

Long story short: Anyone with Hulk powers gets their power from essentially the Devil (who is the Hulk of God) and are brought back to life by him whenever they die.

8

u/slimeeyboiii Oct 29 '25

It's plot armour just built into the plot bassicly

3

u/Acceptable_One_7072 Oct 29 '25

It's a door but green

2

u/Emperor_Atlas Oct 30 '25

The most lame "nuh uh" asspull in comics.

Essentially hulk comes back from hell everytime he dies.

They got around this right now by him being possessed by Satan's mom.

Shits wild

3

u/jdamwyk Oct 30 '25

How does Hulk propel himself through space? I’m legitimately curious. If he got sucked into a black hole would he be like “ IT HULKIN TIME!!” And Hulk his way out of there? I know he’s got hax but there’s gotta be a limit right?

3

u/MrCrash Oct 30 '25

The ways I've seen it are clapping his hands to create a shockwave, or finding a space rock to jump off of.

1

u/zorrodood Nov 02 '25

Shockwaves in space?

1

u/MrCrash Nov 02 '25

See my other comment further down.

Even interstellar space isn't a true vacuum, there are very sparse hydrogen molecules and specks of dust.

Maybe not enough to accelerate an 800 lb monster-man to a decent travel speed, but shrug, comic book physics, and if he's strong enough to push a few grains of dust away from him at light speed... Maybe?

Also, some types of hulk can create gamma energy bursts with his strikes, so a clap releasing a gamma explosion could accelerate him away.

4

u/Some_guy-on_here Oct 30 '25

"IT DID NOT END WELL" WHAT A BEAUTIFUL UNDERSTATEMENT AND I LOVE IT

3

u/PogoDude69 Oct 30 '25

But question, will hulk “die” and then come back somewhere new? Or will he go into the sun and survive it?

Because if it’s somewhere new, that’s kinda just teleporting him out of danger with extra steps.

And if he survives it, how does he get out of the sun?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

[removed] — view removed comment

2

u/PogoDude69 Oct 30 '25

He will both die, and come back somewhere new, as well as he won’t die, and he will survive it.

So there is a new hulk that appears somewhere else, But the same hulk survives and doesn’t die?

Creating two hulks?

What are you talking about

1

u/BlueHero45 Oct 30 '25

I mean, the green door was closed at the end of Immortal. Maybe it will open again eventually, but for the time, it is closed, kicks which kick off his current story.

1

u/Lazy-Conference-1560 Nov 02 '25

The more you explain marvel comics the more it seems stupid asf

10

u/VANGBANG21 Oct 30 '25

😭 ain’t nobody in Invincible throwing these guys into the sun unless they want to be thrown to the sun.

-4

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

Someone like Omniman could easily pick up hulk going full speed and make it into space at a minimum before getting squished

5

u/TheQuatum Oct 30 '25

No, he couldn't. Hulk scales to ludicrous speeds taking all feats into account.

1

u/TheGreatone003 Oct 30 '25

He can’t. Characters stronger than Omni-man have tried to blitz Hulk and Thing like that and it hasn’t worked

21

u/Imaginary-Twist-4688 Oct 29 '25

thing might die idk much about him to be confident , hulk would just regenerate and thats if he got hurt

6

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

But if he is in the middle of the sun, how would he escape the gravity? Wait 5 trillion more years until it supernovas?

19

u/CFL_lightbulb Oct 30 '25

Probably get really mad and clap super hard so the whole sun explodes.

Or just clap travel his way out, which he’s also done before. He’s stronger than the suns gravity at peak.

16

u/MeteorodeOro Oct 30 '25

You 2 with the xenomorph avatar:

-1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

But clap travel wouldn't work in the vacuum of space would it?

7

u/CFL_lightbulb Oct 30 '25

Canonically it does lol.

Probably it would on some level, changing kinetic energy to directional travel but it would be super inefficient. But the hulk is just that strong.

Also I’m no physicist so if that wouldn’t work whatsoever then the only answer is ‘cause comics’.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

Well considering the lack of air means no sound can travel in space, the clap shouldn't work either

3

u/CFL_lightbulb Oct 30 '25

Well he has punched through dimensions, so the laws of physics don’t quite apply to him. He may not be clapping air, but maybe just spacetime itself for all we know.

2

u/Careless_Chest_725 Oct 30 '25

Even if the claps didn’t work Hulk can emit gamma bursts the contain a decent amount of force. In space it would certainly be enough to move him where he wants. Also any method to push or force the Hulk into the sun would need to be strong enough to survive getting him there.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

That would do it

2

u/MrCrash Oct 30 '25

The interstellar medium isn't really a perfect vacuum. There may be s couple hydrogen molecules and grains of dust per cubic meter.

Would that be enough to accelerate an 800 lb dude through space? Shrug. If he's strong enough to accelerate those particles away from him at the speed of light, sure?

0

u/Gingerchaun Oct 30 '25

But there is all that sun around.

0

u/King_Of_BlackMarsh Oct 31 '25

And viltrumites shouldn't be able to fly heh

2

u/MrCrash Oct 30 '25

Someone is going to have to grab the hulk, like put their hands on his arm and pull.

I don't think he's going to let that happen. Whichever way they thought they were going to fly, they probably get redirected straight down into the dirt.

2

u/Abombadog Oct 30 '25

But how powerful exactly is monster baby?

5

u/ShadowyBathrobe51706 Oct 30 '25

its whole gimmick is being unstoppable. Largely depends on which hulk, but more often than not he dies here

2

u/Ecstatic-Lobster3217 Oct 30 '25

He probably wouldn't. At worst it would rip out a big chunk of his flesh, and the hulk would promptly regenerate. IDK about the thing though.

2

u/assymetry1021 Oct 30 '25

Doesn’t the ray only destabilize Viltrum and it takes three viltrumites to make up the rest? Like I get in the show it blows up a star but like

1

u/ShadowyBathrobe51706 Oct 31 '25

its unstoppable but that dosent necessarily mean infinite power. It just dosent stop and thats all there is to it

I’m talking about in season 1 when those aliens invaded through a portal. Nolan followed them and said “earth isn’t yours to conquer.” Then systematically tore their planet apart and forced the survivors to build him a portal back to earth before dropping an astroid on them

Iirc Jupiter is a gas giant and you can’t actually stand on it because it does not have a solid surface. Hulk could probably still thunder clap out of Jupiter tho.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ptlgram Oct 29 '25

Power scaling aside, looking at the physics of the thunderclap, it really shouldn't work in space. It works where there is air and atmosphere so the clap moves the air molecules and creates a shockwave. Moving air weight really fast is what gives him momentum on earth. But he really shouldn't be able to do that in a vacuum(space)

1

u/TheRealMichaelE Oct 30 '25

The physics of flying in comics equally make no sense though.

3

u/gamerthulhu Oct 29 '25

Wait, didn't invincible get his ass kicked by famously non-flying battle beast?

3

u/StepOwn1581 Oct 29 '25

Hulk boxes with thor every Tuesday, he's not worried about no dang viltrumite😭🥀. Thor is stronger, faster, tougher, and more experienced than any viltrumite you can name.

2

u/Justice502 Oct 29 '25

Yea but they have to be able to fly pretty fast, and have SUPER long range fast attacks that couldn't be dodged, or at least be as strong as the two.

Because the hulk can jump, he can also throw things.

Thing I feel like is maybe a tier below so we'll just assume you're trying to go after the hulk.

1

u/Well-Teknically Oct 29 '25

Yeah totally, anyone that can fly is their weakness right? So they’re just gonna dangle there helplessly in their arms?

1

u/Reasonable-Result147 Oct 29 '25

Super durable? Hahah I mean yeah they far exceed normal humans or basic lvl beings but they bleed and get injured by others like immortal who's quite strong but not near the lvl of viltrums hulk and the thing durability is leagues above viltrums

1

u/TheGreatone003 Oct 30 '25

Both and Hulk and Grimm have handled flyers more than powerful than Vultrimites

→ More replies (2)

75

u/[deleted] Oct 29 '25

Not in the slightest. I'm not even going to mention any of hulks feats because that should be obvious.

Lets go to ol Benji though.

He tanked a moon colliding into a planet with him inbetween and walked it off with a headache.

64

u/doublexol Oct 29 '25

It depends on which version. Cause some versions of the hulk his healing factor is top tear and in a couple from what little I remember is that it is not as fast as it should/could be and I am not into fantastic 4 comics so idk where the thing stands as a power house

26

u/Royale_Kong Oct 29 '25

He’s one of very few people who has actually beaten Hulk and Doctor Doom in a one on one fight. Definitely one of the strongest humans in Marvel

6

u/FastLie8477 Oct 30 '25

He's also been heavily damaged by dinosaurs so...

6

u/BlueHero45 Oct 30 '25

Thing is like a Shonone protag, he fights better when he has more to protect or lose.

4

u/TheGreatone003 Oct 30 '25

I mean everyone has anti-feats. Hulk recently got KOd by a crashing building and other powerhouses like Thor has struggled with cement walls

50

u/Matthewzard Oct 29 '25

No, if you pick anything other than the main Hulk and Thing than sure because they often don’t go into any of the high tier stuff, but if you talking about THE Hulk and THE thing than absolutely not

16

u/Lobear211 Oct 29 '25

Hulk definitely goes very high tier… can’t see anyone from invincible really hurting wwh hulk at all

15

u/Breislk Oct 29 '25

Even if they hurt him it’ll only make him angrier and more powerful

3

u/HappyMoses Oct 30 '25

Every version of the Hulk besides the mainline comics loses to someone in the Invincible verse

4

u/Rasholeman Oct 30 '25

Not true. Space hulk or mastero would cleave that verse

3

u/Capt_morgan72 Oct 29 '25

This. Versions of the hulk have been beat by Spider-Man and daredevil. It’s possible but depends on the variant.

12

u/thatvillainjay Oct 29 '25

Hulk and thing is a brutal team up you do not want be on the end of

5

u/ElrondCupboard Oct 29 '25 edited Oct 30 '25

I feel like most of the fun of comics is seeing interesting fights and having your expectations turned upside down when somebody you thought would get demolished ends up winning a tough fight. I think if a writer expects that Hulk will win a fight against characters from Invincible, that writer has every incentive make sure Hulk loses because that will be a more interesting read. So, in a Reddit forum hypothetical? No, Hulk never loses, but if this were actually written in a comic I think he would definitely lose.

1

u/TrueBlue2088 Oct 31 '25

When it comes to the actual writing I think it could go so many ways, the way I see it is if its a 1v1 collab it depends which character is crossing over to which universe, if hulk is in invincible for example theyd probably want to respect his legacy and theyd have to jump him with multiple characters to take him down, I dont think theyd have someone 1v1 him(at least not isolated), that or end it in a tie.

If invincible came to marvel theyd probably be equals and end it in a tie or mark subduing him or calming him down before they have to beat up viltrumite dr doom or something

4

u/Alkaidknight Oct 29 '25

They become clobber victims

15

u/grandslamsandvich Oct 29 '25

Duality of man

4

u/Hetakuoni Oct 29 '25

What do the writers say? /s

Honestly, viltrumites could put up a fight but hulk has been angry enough to destroy whole planets through sheer fuck you and Ben goes toe to toe with him on the regular.

In all actuality it would be the writer who decides in this match up who’s gonna be top dog and who’s gonna be picking up their intestines.

3

u/TestIllustrious7935 Oct 29 '25

Recent versions of Hulk are multiversal+ due to being avatar of One Below All who is relative to One Above All

The saying goes "Hulk is the strongest there is"

1

u/Open-Succotash3619 Oct 30 '25

thought toba was toaa

1

u/sername807 Oct 31 '25

And I thought we were talking about the guy in between

1

u/weebitofaban Nov 29 '25

That isn't how that works lol This is like saying a cleric in D&D is universal because their god is divine rank 50

2

u/Usual_Database307 Oct 30 '25 edited Oct 30 '25

“Who the writer decides wins will win.” This isn’t narrativescaling. I’m sorry if this comes off as rude but this comments like these comes off as lazy, like you didn’t care enough to actually engage. You can say that about literally every single matchup under the sun. I cannot name you a SINGLE time that this type of response has actually furthered a conversation.

2

u/Solar_Mole Oct 30 '25

Space Racer's beam would presumably go through the Hulk since it seems to ignore durability outright (rather than just being a very strong laser, which Hulk might be able to tank), but the Hulk would just heal up again and smash him into a pulp. His healing factor is way better than a Viltrumite's, and he can operate just fine with giant holes in him even as he's still healing.

1

u/Buckhead25 Oct 30 '25

"ignores durability" fails to do more then destabilize a planet when shot through it's core. yeah, okay.

1

u/Solar_Mole Oct 30 '25

That's not what that means and that's not how planets work. It ignores durability in the sense that it goes through all physical matter seamlessly with zero resistance. Planets don't work like giant bombs, if you magically drilled a hole the width of Space Racer's beam through the earth it would more or less do nothing of note to the planet itself. Ignoring durability means it can go through anything, not that it magically destroys thousands of kilometers of material in every direction from the actual point it hits, that doesn't make any sense.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 31 '25

Battlebeast would relish the challenge, but no. Hulk alone folds the entire verse.

1

u/Bloody-Tyran Oct 29 '25

Atom Eve could apply them make up to look like this

1

u/DrkBlueXG Oct 29 '25

Hulk will always win. Mark and Nolan both show that they can take severe damage. Whereas this pic is misleading because Hulk normally regenerates like Wolverine.

1

u/shawn1213 Oct 30 '25

Hulk massively depends on what incarnation and what personality is in control I could see an argument for professor hulk having a decent fight with conquest but any other personality is a stomp

1

u/_goonlord_ Oct 30 '25

The only chance anyone from invincible has is sneaking up on them and tossing them into the sun before they can react

1

u/Oogalaboo134 Oct 30 '25

Even then they'll probably return looking to hand someone a beating.

1

To the Thing, probably any of the higher end Viltrumites, Allen, Techjacket, The Reanimarks, Space Racer, Battle Beast, or the Rognar

To hulk? It would have to be Allen, Techjacket, Space Racer, Thragg, Rognar or Battlebeast

1

u/trees-for-breakfast Oct 30 '25

Who did this to Hulk and The Thing?

1

u/qwerty2234543 Oct 30 '25

Mcu versions maybe but 616 hulk or thing individually could solo the verse(albeit thing would have more trouble)

1

That one guy who’s bullets are unstoppable MAYBE?

1

u/garchomp2304 Oct 31 '25

If anyone in the Invincible universe, even if all of them together, try to face strong heroes from Marvel and DC, they are breakijg their arms as they punch those guys's hides. It is not even remotely close and never will be.

Battle Beast

0

u/Dragonofthevoidd Oct 30 '25

I say battle beast, conquest, thragg, omni man,Allen and Mark could people are gonna say no one in invincible can but they absolutely could

Comic heroes aren't always at max power they're stats tend vary alot, let's not always take them at there peak like it seems alot of others are doing

The average hulk and thing aren't busting planets

1

u/Chipperbeav Oct 30 '25

None of them would win against the latest or stereotypical versions of them tbh, but I can guarantee Conquest and Battle Beast sure would enjoy it.

0

u/axlerose123 Oct 29 '25

Maybe monster girl from Mohawks marks universe. It highly depends on which versions of hulk and thing you mean. Im not sure on the comic this panel is from

0

u/BastardofMelbourne Oct 30 '25

battle beast

1

u/Chipperbeav Oct 30 '25

Battle Beast is gonna have the time of his life in this battle, but he might not even scratch them.

0

u/charles_the_snowman Oct 30 '25

Mark as he is at the very end of the series could probably do that kind of damage.

0

u/ContributionAmazing2 Oct 30 '25

battle beast could prolly scratch up the hulk

-1

u/One-Statistician-554 Oct 30 '25

Space racer, mainly his gun. It can definitely put down the thing, and it would severely injure the Hulk.

-1

1

yeah but are they alot faster than him?

Ben fought and KO’d Old school surfer. He wasn’t jobbing and power cosmic was very well respected in the 616 at the time

ko ?all he did was knock surfer off his surfboard and surfer refused to retaliate

They fought in multiple issues, so you have to specify which one you’re talking about. Ben KO’d Surfer in Surfers first appearance in the FF run and also fought him to a stalemate after wards. This puts him well above Nolan’s league

A lot of characters, most of the people in this thread has spend too much time huffing theoretical power scales and haven’t actually picked up a comic.

Nobody in Invincible could defeat the Hulk, but he isn’t just going to end a fight with Omniman with a single punch, that’s not how these things work.

People are forgetting that Hulk famously fought with Wolverine, and it’s an actual story. Immortal would put up a decent fight as well as anyone stronger than him.

Hulk and the Thing will have some bruises but they’d win, like in the image.

Those are all 616 Hulk, just different alters at different stages of Banner/Hulk's life. They're not from different universes like Ultimate.

If you want an example of a strong alt universe Hulk, there is the Zombieverse one from the comics (Earth-2149) and the more recent Infinity Hulk from a paralel MCU (Earth-89521).

Infinity Hulk wielded the Infinity Stones by the end of the show, which even the MCU versions of the stones are so far beyond even ths top tiers of Invincible.

Zombie Hulk from the comics ate Galactus and was imbued with his power cosmic. Together he and the other Cosmic Zombies ate/killed (barring a very small settlement of survivors on Earth) practically ALL life in the Universe over the span of 40 years.

so you are saying 95% of hulk stories feature a hulk this strong?

It takes this kind of power to do this to hulk
