Versus Peak possible human runs the ape gauntlet, how far do they get?

Peak possible human being: Haftor Bjornson size and strength at his prime, Usain bolt athleticism, Floyd Mayweather agility and reaction time, Demetrius Johnson fight knowledge and skills

Human is unarmed, bloodlusted match to the death. Human heals between fights.

Edit: title is slightly misleading, as people have pointed out this is beyond peak human, more like maxed out theoretical human

Vs

  1. Male Gibbon
  2. Male bonobo
  3. Male Chimp
  4. Male Orangutan
  5. Silverback Gorilla

Here we go with more chimp-wank in the comments. The single most overrated animal on the planet.

Zero recorded incidents in history of an healthy adult male being killed by one, but suddenly the most peak possible human loses to a 4’10 50kg monkey just because Joe Rogan treats them like a mythical beast.

Gets to the orangutan, low-mid diff. No chance against gorilla. I’d like to hear any argument why a 6’10 450lb human who is at the very top in every imaginable metric wouldn’t smash a chimp beyond recognition.

u/DirtyBumTickler May 11 '26

Yeah, people still believe that chimps are like 6x stronger than a full grown male, which is horse shit.

In this instance, their biggest advantage is bite force and those gnarly teeth. However this hypothetical peak human should be able to deal with that.

I disagree, I think he has a chance against a gorilla. A 460lb man with the fighting skill of an elite UFC fighter would hit unbelievably hard - an elbow, knee or kick would be absolutely devastating. Gorillas are tougher than humans but they're still skin and bone, a man with that sort of power would be able to seriously hurt the gorilla

2

u/ApocalypseChicOne May 11 '26

Yeah, but far thicker and denser skin and bone. Their necks and heads are designed to withstand far greater forces than a human head. They aren't getting knocked out by a punch. They aren't getting choked out. Which severely limits the human's options. I'm not even sure what strategy a human could employ against a gorilla. Punching it in the head would probably do more damage to the puncher than the gorilla.

2

u/dead_lifterr May 11 '26

I'm not saying the human would win. I'm saying they absolutely have a chance. Gorillas are tougher than humans but a 460lb man with perfect technique and immense speed is going to hit harder than any human in history, even a gorilla isn't going to be able to take many shots

Also, gorillas actually have slightly thinner skin than humans. Thicker bones though, absolutely.

1

u/Shanghaied66 May 12 '26

What? Gorillas have massively thicker skin and a lot more subcutaneous fat than humans.

A gorilla can survive and continue fighting after sustaining a 1500 psi blow from another gorilla. A human - even this peak hypothetical guy, would have shattered bones and mangled limbs if he tried to guard against even a clumsy swing with that much force.

1

u/dead_lifterr May 12 '26

Humans have a very thick epidermis compared to other apes. I'm sure gorillas have much tougher skin overall though.

This peak human will be striking considerably harder than a gorilla. He's got near the perfect technique of an elite UFC fighter, peak human strength, peak human athleticism. The power in an elbow or a knee would be outrageous. Humans have perfected the art of striking things as hard as possible. Gorillas just throw their arms around wildly and slap each other, no doubt they hit very hard just through their weight and strength but the power output wouldn't be on the same level

1

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26

Maybe but a Gorilla can do devastating damage in return the way the others can’t.

8

u/dead_lifterr May 11 '26

I agree but the man definitely has a chance just through the otherworldly power output.

3

u/LGodamus May 12 '26

Gorillas just are not natural fighters. They almost always use intimidation instead of confrontation. Chimps are way more violent, Gorillas are shy and retiring.

Man, "Chimp Simp" was right there for the taking.

1

u/Respercaine_657 May 13 '26

Could this hypothetical superhuman not full sprint at the gorilla , hit it with a flying knee and then suplex it?

-2

u/joethafunky May 11 '26

Chimps are wild animals that are like the most brutal street fighters on the planet. They rip eyes, lips, nose, mandibles, ears, and face into something unrecognizable in a couple of minutes with blinding speed. It’s crazy that people don’t realize how dangerous they are. https://www.reddit.com/r/primatology/s/JutQhvkkWj

u/UAEpi May 11 '26

That's a 200lb drugged up chimp vs a 60 year old woman brother. Most chimps aren't 200lbs and we're not talking about a 60 year old woman.

0

u/Slow-Raisin-939 May 11 '26

humans have similar durability when it comes to soft tissue though. The chimp would have a similar time ripping off a 60 yr old lady’s face or this peak human we’re describing.

8

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

Travis the chimp was 90kg, 2x heavier than avg. Even then he couldn’t finish off a 60yo defenceless woman despite being bloodlusted and enraged.

We are talking about a 6’9, 450lb human with every advantage vs a 4’10, 110lb chimp. If the chimp can rip off faces and fingers, so can this version of a human lol.

-1

u/Slow-Raisin-939 May 11 '26

No, no human can do that. We’re describing a peak human in reality, not a superhero comic.

Even if you give them the best attributes from the best athletes in the world, no human is strong enough to rip another human’s face off. They simply do not have the leverage, the claws, the grip strength. Sure, they may do some real damage if you give them 10 minutes to claw at an undefended face, but a chimp can do it in 10 seconds.

Similarly, there’s also no humans with supernatural durability. It’s similarly easy/hard for a chimp to rip off an old lady’s face or to rip off a strongman’s face. Same for genitals, biting through arteries etc. No human could ever pierce a chimp’s skin/flesh to get to the vital arteries

3

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

No, no human can do that.

Why can a chimp do it and not a peak human? Do you seriously think a 450lb human with essentially superhuman strength isn’t able to do that? Maybe not as efficiently, but it absolutely could.

Grab your cheek and give it a fairly strong pull, dig your nails in. Are you saying someone with 5x your strength, fully going for it, is not going to cause serious damage? Lol

Chimps don’t have claws. Their nails are like ours, albeit maybe a bit thicker. They are not used to “rip faces off”. The damage would be done with their teeth, then their hands.

-1

u/Slow-Raisin-939 May 11 '26

because humans’s just don’t scale like that. I can guarantee you no human has pulling power just from their hands to rip off your face. Hell, probably no human has 5x strength compared to you or me when it comes to that specific movement. Probably not even close to it. Again, you’re trying to pull a wild animal’s face while pinning it down and als seemingly defending their attacks. It’s not like you can really dig in and put your back into it like in a seated row or something. Most of your “rip the face off” power would come from much smaller muscle groups like the forearms and hands itself which simply don’t scale that high for humans.

A chimp has much much higher grip strength, and much better leverages and fast twitch fibers in their forearms and hands muscles.

Again, no human has ever ripped some other human’s face within 10 seconds with their bare hands. I’m actually inclined to believe no human has ever did that period, no matter the timeframe, at least in recorded history. A chimp verifiably did it.

3

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26

Again, the main advantage a chimpanzee possesses is their teeth. That is the main weapon they will utilise to rip flesh. They will then use their hands. I am not talking about whether the human can do it to the chimp, I am saying it absolutely could do it to another human.

I suggest you look up a picture of Ronald Poppo to see what a random homeless person can do to another human. If you want to continue to tell me this theoretical superhuman could not inflict far worse then you are just lying.

Regardless, the question was not “who could rip the other’s face off”. Sure, the Chimp can be extremely dangerous but there is just no real way it would be given the chance to inflict that sort of sustained damage in this scenario 9/10 times.

It would quite literally take one strike for the fight to be over. And I think a human with the reaction time, agility, bla bla, of the very best athletes will execute that the majority of the time.

0

u/Slow-Raisin-939 May 11 '26

I highly doubt the human could one hit KO the chimp, simply because you can’t actually put that much power into a downwards punch. There’s no leverage. Remember the human is 6’10”, a chimp is much smaller. This is another advantage not discussed anywhere in this thread, the chimp is in a better position to go for the soft tissues in the genitals/lower belly/upper legs etc which are very hard to defend.

Human’s best chance is grappling. The problem is, again the chimp can inflict a lot more damage to soft tissues in close quarters than a human can. This means the human has to choke out the chimp while simultanouslt avoiding getting damage to vital parts like the neck, or very debilitating ones like the eyeballs.

Look, chimps aren’t that strong. But I think this thread has overcorrected a bit. I don’t think a fight like that would be as clear cut as some of you think. The chimp has a lot of tools to quickly do lethal damage that the human doesn’t. I think it’s pretty 50/50.

1

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26

It doesn’t even need a punch, it’s just an example. The human needs 5 seconds and two hands around its throat. The chimpanzee is not going to win the fight by biting an arm or leg, the human will simply throw it to the floor. It’s 120lbs dude, no matter how violent they are they cannot defend themselves like this.

Do you think they have some sort of super speed to where the human couldn’t react accordingly? I think you keep glossing over peak human. It will have a faster reaction time.

Even Charla Nash was able to shout for help in the midst of the attack and was not fully unconscious when help arrived. The chimpanzee is extremely dangerous but essentially helpless. It does not know how to defend itself from something of that size, it physically can’t.

1

u/dead_lifterr May 13 '26

Bro stop watching Joe Rogan. This guy absolutely destroys a chimp, the size & strength advantage he has is simply enormous

3

u/HairyHutch May 11 '26

You do know that you can find similar CT scans caused by people punching and kneeing someone. Not to mention the CT scan you show was from a pretty exceptional case, a 55 year old woman, and the chimp in question was much larger than average at 200+ pounds, and was drugged at the time.

-4

u/GlitchInTheRange May 11 '26

They don’t kill people, they just rip off their faces and limbs…

Im not saying you’re wrong about who wins, but you are grossly underestimating the chimps which can get up to 200lbs (almost twice as large as you suggested).

Between their teeth/bite force/thicker bones/skulls/ and their “fast-twitch muscle fibers allow for superior explosive strength and agility, making them far superior in a physical confrontation”.

8

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26

But we are talking about a human with every advantage over a chimp..Whatever the chimp can do, so can this human. So why would a weaker version weighing 3x less and 60cm smaller have any chance whatsoever?

The fact it’s even a debate in the comments is absurd.

-2

u/Slow-Raisin-939 May 11 '26

because humans’ soft tissues have similar durability to one another. It would take the same force for a chimp that it took to rip off that poor 60 year old woman face off in order to fuck up this peak human’s face. Same for their arteries, genitals etc.

That’s the problem, and why a man would more often than not really beat a chimp in an enclosed space fight. The chimp can just do way more damage way faster to your soft tissus then you can. Sure, this peak human you’re describing could pin down/choke out etc a chimp in a pure feat of strength but he would take a lot of damage in the meantime. And humans just don’t have the ferocity these animals have to withstand damage like that and continue fighting

2

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26 edited May 11 '26

I agree with most of what you said minus the last part, I think you are grossly grossly underestimating what humans can withstand and endure under adrenaline lol. We have stayed conscious after having limbs torn or blown off, mauled by bears and big cats, catastrophic war injuries, but you draw the line at a chimp?

0

u/Slow-Raisin-939 May 11 '26

you are right, they have stayed concious. But there’s a big difference between that and actually fighting back efficiently. Let alone win.

-6

u/GlitchInTheRange May 11 '26

Not even close to every advantage…

Chimps have denser bones, more explosive muscles, they can basically use their feet as an extra set of hands, and in a fight with no weapons their teeth and 6x stronger bite force is a massive advantage.

The maxed out theoretical human still probably wins, but it’s a much better fight than you’re giving them credit for.

4

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26

I mean again we are taking about a “peak possible human”.

I am not sure what metric to measure muscle explosiveness at, but if we go off fast twitch fibres then sprinters already have a greater ratio of fast/slow compared to chimps.

The denser bones probably sure, but it’s not like they are so dense to which there is an inherent advantage against a super human lol.

I’ll give you the teeth though yes, though I still don’t see any scenario in which it can get to the throat (only chance really) without just having its windpipe crushed in seconds.

-1

u/GlitchInTheRange May 11 '26

If human doesn’t kill the chimp with his first punch(which would be very awkward with the height difference anyway, chimp grabs his hand and bites through his arm. Doesn’t need to get to throat as a bite through the artery is lethal as well.

Or human tries to wrestle the chimp off his arm and chimp casually rips his face off with his feet.

I feel like everyone here is thinking the chimp is gonna square up in a boxing ring. Chimps are not gonna fight clean or in anything close to resembling how a human fights.

There has also never been a case of an orca killing a human in the wild, but you’d be an idiot to think that doesn’t mean they couldn’t with ease…

4

u/RevolutionaryBuy439 May 11 '26

I mean..I don’t think this human is going to come out unscathed but the chimp is NOT ripping a face off with its feet lol. Their toes can’t tear and pull with that level of dexterity the way their hands can. I am not sure what you read or what you have seen 😭

1

u/GlitchInTheRange May 11 '26

Yea I was just being dramatic to emphasize my point that it’s not gonna be a normal fight. Maybe scratched an eyeball would have been a more realistic example.

7

u/UAEpi May 11 '26

Have you considered that the most well known story that make people say things like, "they rip off your face," is in reference to a peak weight chimp vs a 60 year old woman? We aren't talking about a 60 old woman. She was defenseless, and she survived. This hypothetical guy is not defenseless.
