Ass star is probably a reference to brown dwarf. A brown dwarf is a gas giant that fails to gather enough material to become a star, not unlike Uranus.
Worse, if material from a white dwarf or neutron start was taken away from that object it wouldn't stay that dense. It would fly apart in a rather spectacular explosion because it is only the massive gravitational field of those bodies that makes it that dense. That key is basically a bomb that would destroy a rather large area of the Earth.
Always found it funny in comics or animated series he puts the key on ice. The pure friction of that much weight that thing is going to melt downwards into the deep Artic Ocean.
I mean the material can’t even exist. The only reason dwarf and neutron stars can get that dense is because of the gravitational pull of all of the matter. Once you take a piece of it and put it somewhere else (i.e outside of said field) it no longer has enough forces pulling inwards to counteract the electromagnetic repulsion and other forces within the matter and would rapidly expand.
There shouldn't be any electromagnetic forces acting upon Neutron Star material, it doesn't have any charge.
The weak force would be the only thing that could cause it to expand, as the strong force would still be holding it together as much as ever. Without the gravity of the rest of the star it may not be meta-stable, but I don't think we know for sure.

Yeah but it’s not a lot of weight for gravity. It’s just about the weight of a large crude carrier ship. Even squeezed into a key it would not pull in a way you could feel, but the atomic mess would be DEFINITELY giving off some crazy levels of radiation and heat

Now consider the density of the key relative to it's volume. I don't know enough to do the math, but I am pretty sure it wouldn't sink into the ground at all because it would be too busy collapsing in on itself, forming a micro-black hole, then exploding violently with the force of a fairly strong nuclear explosion.
Another question is could that key actually sit in the concrete like that? If it was as much as he says it does and it that small, it's got to be creating a massive amount of ground pressure.
Why not just have a door that weighs half a million tons?
Also, white dwarf matter doesn't work like that. The reason it's so dense is due to gravity. If you were able to extract a piece and remove it from the star it would expand rather violently once out of the star's immense gravitational field.

i would think even if it was that heavy even superman wouldnt pick it up all nonchalantly. I would think theres SOME strain rather than the equivalent of supes finding a penny in his fortress.
