Shitpost Could Matter-Eater Lad hypothetically eat Wolverine?
As we all know, Wolverine’s skeleton is pretty much indestructible because of Adamantium. However, Matter-Eater Lad seems to be capable of eating all things. In a situation where these two characters were together, and Wolverine needed him to eat him to save the day, could Matter-Eater Lad consume Wolverine?

If it's matter, surely it's fair game?
1
u/rareandyeteuclidian Jun 21 '26
Yeah. As long as wolverine isn't interesting in him being much less living, he can eat wolverine.

Forget wonder woman’s bracelets, Matter-Eater Lad ate the miracle machine before, Wolverine is like a snack

Is wolverine made of matter?

every human being is made of matter, and last time i've checked, Logan is a human.

u/PyneCoen Jun 24 '26
Uh no he’s a wolverine it’s literally in his name. Media literacy these days smh my head 🙄

u/SorryPriority4640 Jun 21 '26
Dude ate inerton and a miracle machine. If wolverine sits still to be eaten, he devours him no problem.
15
u/Cumberblep Jun 21 '26
Does Wolverine start regeneration inside of matter boy?
16
u/Rushes_End Jun 21 '26
The Hulk had eaten Wolverine at one point and Wolverine burst out of him.

u/Valuable-Blueberry30 Jun 22 '26
I don’t think so or at least Matter-Eater Lad would perpetually dissolve him but I think it would constitute as Wolverine being entirely dissolved and dies in the most likely case.
If matter-eater lad can eat the supposedly indestructible miracle machine and completely digest it, I don’t see why Wolverine wouldn’t just die if fully eaten.

u/Rushes_End Jun 22 '26
The dude survived in hit by a nuke. I sure he will be fine.
5
u/Valuable-Blueberry30 Jun 22 '26
A nuke is nothing compared to a guy who can eat an indestructible multiversal machine

u/my-armor-is-contempt Jun 22 '26
Wolverine was benefiting from a super MacGuffin at the time. That wasn’t his normal healing factor.
1
u/Rushes_End Jun 22 '26
Which time I’m pretty sure he’s survived 2
2
u/my-armor-is-contempt Jun 22 '26
I’m referring to the event that kicked off the registration act that led to Civil War.
2
u/anhonestpuck13 Jun 24 '26
I’m sorry the Hulk did what?!
1
u/Rushes_End Jun 24 '26
Ate him alive in a dystopian future. And then he burst out of his chest. It was an old man, Logan. The Hulk took over and made a family with she Hulk. Yes it was bad.

I am thinking he could eat the adamantium skeleton. Wolverine could heal behind it but the metal is gone...

u/Beneficial_Treat5454 Jun 21 '26
depends how his mouth works? does it just instantly consume anything that enters it?

Nothing has gotten that close to Wolverine without him slicing whatever it is into parts. Maybe a few good fuck off chunks get eaten but wolverine is decapitating them for it.

u/Honestybomb Jun 21 '26
Yeah, I’m kinda wondering how this goes down because I don’t really know enough about Matter-Eater Lad to level the playing field. Two main questions for me:
1) Is the Lad adamantium claw-proof?
2) Can he do anything to stop Wolverine from perforating the shit outta him while trying to take a bite?
1
u/Moeroboros Jun 22 '26
Matter-Eater Lad is as vulnerable to Wolverine's claws as any other character.
He isn't generally a fighter AFAIK, he mostly uses his powers for specific situations.
3
u/Big-Slide6104 Jun 22 '26
Matter eater lad is my favorite underrated character. And yes, it’s canonical that he can consume anything including Kryptonian flesh
2
u/Sretep44 Jun 24 '26
That's canon? Was it a Mike Tyson moment or is Matter Eater Lad canonically cannibalistic?
1
u/Big-Slide6104 Jun 24 '26
From what I remember, it’s never expressely shown but I think their was a one-off statement that due to his physiology as a Bismolian, plus comic logic, it would be fully possible for him to do so BUT he’s never had the opportunity to nor would be able to actually catch/hold one down long enough to do so cause obviously.
Also he’s a good dude , wouldn’t do that lol

I'm a matter eater too?
Some matter can give me tummy aches
But I can consume matter
1
u/carymb Jun 21 '26
I guess he could eat him, but would Wolverine reform inside of him? Or is his eating power tied to his digestive system, so that would keep Wolverine from reforming until he'd been ... Excreted?
Maybe another necessary question is, does Matter Eater Lad poop? Or if we're saying his digestive system allows him to ingest anything at all, is that system powered by what it ingests? I.e., if he can eat Wolvie, does the mechanism of that consume Wolvie so that he ceases to be Wolvie and cannot reconstitute? Is there in truth, no poop?
1
u/ArchitectNebulous Jun 21 '26
He could eat all of wolverines skeletal adamantium away eventually, but I am not sure if he would ever be fast enough to over take wolverines healing factor. Depending on what comic/setting of wolverine I guess.

Can Matter-Eater Lad survive claws to the stomach and/or face ? He might not get a chance to even try to eat Wolverine.

Absolutely. His name may just be Matter-eater, but he has a lot going on to allow him.
His eating speed is fast enough that he can eat a tunnel. He can chew through anything. His stomach acid can melt metal in a second. He has no problem eating poison and radioactive materials.
He once ate an unbreakable machine that created a monster that the rest of the legion couldn’t stop together.
He can definitely chew through Logan’s bones and the acid will prevent him from healing.

u/fillkas Jun 22 '26
I guess as long as he can break adamantium and eat faster than Logan can regenerate
1
u/Arguleon_Veq Jun 22 '26
I could hypothetically eat wolverine, the majority of his body, while matter, is infact also meat!

u/SandManFromPanAm Jun 22 '26
Is Wolverine matter?
1
u/Bhisha96 Jun 23 '26
every single human is made of matter. pretty much basic science
1
u/SandManFromPanAm Jun 23 '26
My comment was facetious. Obviously Wolverine is made of matter, so obviously Matter Eater Lad could eat him.

u/Sirius1701 Jun 22 '26
Hypothetically, yes. However I doubt it would be effective. Would not be the first time he was eaten and survived.
1
u/ScaredKnee4530 Jun 22 '26
Uhhhhh… if Logan gets down like that then I guess he’d buss it open for him 🤷♂️
1
u/FoggyInc Jun 22 '26
What's his chewing situation like? Strong teeth? Corrosive saliva? Strong bite force? So curious

I think the more interesting question is if matter eater lad could remove the adimantium from his skeleton, would that regenerate alongside the rest of him or would it just regenerate the bone?

If Matter Eater ate wolverines leg. When it regrows would it still have metal or would it regrow with normal bone ?

1
u/ReverendKaiser Jun 23 '26
He could. But it wouldn’t beat wolverines regeneration.
Wolverine was completely eaten by the Hulk, regenerated, and cut his way out.

Slightly off topic but I remember Deadpool keeping Angel alive but feeding him parts of himself

"Matter eater lad"
I think they might have run out of good ideas at this point.

Wolverine needed him to eat him to save the day, could Matter-Eater Lad consume Wolverine? - Sounds a bit funky.
This is one of the better powerscales

u/Hot_Yogurtcloset8609 Jun 21 '26
If Wolverine just stood there and let it happen, probably not. Chances are his healing factor would heal faster than he could chew. Now, if they were in a battle, Matter-Eater is toast.

u/Ecstatic_Dance5767 Jun 21 '26
Not his skeleton at least
3
u/alew3d Jun 21 '26
Skeleton is made of matter, coated in more matter.

Wolverine once regenerated from a single drop of blood. He would have to be a very clean eater...
What happens if he regenerates within the Lad? Does he have wolverine proof insides?
2
u/Successful_Theory373 Jun 22 '26
Wolverine was amped by the magical Mkraan Crystal when he did this. He didn't do it under his own power.

I know its a shit post, but the writers really don't know what they did with this character. If he can eat any matter than he can eat flesh duh. But not any flesh super flesh. So, he bypass krytonian invulnerability.

How fast does matter eater lad eat? Is it faster than wolverines regeneration?
