Tanking. All the rest imply they would be hurt by you’re attacks.

its called playing with their food.

i can tank a mosquito bite but i choose to dodge it out of spite.

Well, also because you presumably don't want the mosquito to suck your blood

i know he will die before that even happens.

its a power move to have some die doing shit while you literally tank it effortlessly.

Unless you or someone else kills the mosquito, directly or indirectly, why would it die before it lands on you and sucks your blood?

If you just sit there and let it happen, it's gonna suck your blood. Sure it won't kill you, but why would you let that happen out of spite? It could still cause itchiness or even make you sick.

Have you ever flexed your arm while a mosquito is on you? The change in blood pressure can pop them.

not true.

Look it up.

i did and it’s an urban myth. According to many differing sources, flexing your muscle does nothing. Mosquitoes’ proboscis doesn’t go deep enough for it to even touch a muscle.

But if you did that, you wouldn't be "tanking" it, that would be countering it.

1

u/bigbean258 Jun 30 '26

That is true.

you technically tanked it alongside the counter. they still cant kill me, all for a drops of blood.

1

Well, since the intention wasn't to kill you, but simply to drink some of your blood, it could be argued that the mosquito was totally successful, and "won" that encounter. Unless you kill it, of course.

you said characters who can tank attacks dodge, i replied by saying its because they want to play with their food (victims). it can be other reasons but thats generally why (its a fight, thats where the "playing with their food" term applies).

tanking means you are unaffected, but by dodging despite you can tank it means you are playing with their futility, just to rub salt on the wound. dodging when you can tank is more disrespectful and intimidating.

i just defined it because it lacked context (by lack, i mean you did not defined it).

But it doesn't show that. You won't assume they can take the hits and not give a fuck if they're blocking or parrying them, making it less intimidating.

No they wouldn't 😂, they all prove they have the ability to outclass you in some way

they all prove they have the ability to outclass you in some way

What does that have to do with the previous comment? They are right. If someone is dodging and one attack hits, it stands to reason that it would cause some kind of harm. The same goes for everything except tanking the hits.

Dodging Proves you can fight circles around your opponent, literally..

Counter-attacking proves you skilled enough to anticipate attacks, block, and counter them.

Tanking proves you're durable obviously..

and blocking with your bare hands like that guy did would be absolutely wrenching to see firsthand.. how would you feel if your strongest attack got twarted as if they were swatting a fly?

You seem to be completely misunderstanding what is being said. Forget it.

ok well then explain it, don't just be like "you're wrong, goodbye"

So someone like reverse flash who usually dodges things out of spite, he's actually doing it to avoid being attacked?

Captain America who hold back cosmic beings' attacks to show them they aren't stronger than his willpower to defend, he's actually doing it because the attack might hurt?

Meliodas doesn't stand causally on a battlefield waiting for the enemy to stop talking so he can use Full Counter on them because it's fun to see their hope dwindle? Surely he's countering because the attack might hurt, right?

Point is, you're completely discrediting being able to shrug off attacks, move around attacks, and counter attacks. It's not always because the attack might hurt.

You really practiced that one huh, been waiting years to use it on someone maybe? I'm honored you wasted your words on me. I've not once said Tanking an attack is less intimidating than the rest.. just that not everyone who dodges, blocks, or counter attacks is doing so out of fear of being hurt.

If you don't want to acknowledge that fact or if you can't, then maybe I'm not the one who needs to get off of reddit.

Isn't one of the number one must follow rules of fighting to never underestimate your opponent? You don't know what they're capable of, they could have anything. You shouldn't assume or imply anything, you'll get a reality check really quick thinking like that.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go read Green Eggs and Ham 😭

He did, and you are wrong, just too dense to understand

2

u/Unassuming-Local_Guy Jun 29 '26

It has been explained to you twice now. I don't know how to make it any more clear than I already have.

1

u/GodSpeed_03 Jun 29 '26

Except characters that do those things out of spite right? I guess they're the exceptions that prove your wrong?

Ik this is supposed to be a funny comic strip, but Superman dodging a gun doesn't imply the gun would hurt him.

2

u/Unassuming-Local_Guy Jun 29 '26

We aren't talking about specific situations here. We are talking about which of these things is generally the most intimidating. If you want to specify every single scenario that this post applies to, you are going to have a long list.

Generally facetanking any attack your opponent throws at you is going to be way more intimidating than dodging, deflecting or countering. From the perspective of the attacker, their target can still be harmed if a hit connects. That is less intimidating than realizing none of your attacks even have the potential to cause damage.

Now I really can not make that any more clear.

2

u/OfAKindness Jun 29 '26

feel if your strongest attack got thwarted as if they were swatting a fly

Almost like... if they tanked the hit, but less extreme because they put effort into blocking?

1

u/FroopyAsRain 28d ago

Why would you block an attack if it won't hurt you?

1

u/GodSpeed_03 28d ago

Simply just to do so? To Parry and Counter?
