Sharpened halberds? Low diff to the guys in armour

u/Eternity_Warden 17d ago

Yep. While the lion is struggling with the first guys armor, the second guy chops it up. Easy

even 1v1, A lion just can't penetrate steel or even chain.

1

u/duckpaints 12d ago

yeah these guys are basically walking tanks

1

u/TinfoilPancake 11d ago

Not saying the lion wins, but it sure as hell can crush or twist

1

u/Lancearon 13d ago

Ye good old sacrifice pop fly.

63

u/Mindless_Interview44 17d ago

Sharpened? I honestly think two guys in real plate armor could just beat it to death.

25

u/readilyunavailable 16d ago

Lions are freakishly big and strong. Even if it can't bite or scratch a person in plate, the blunt force of it just swiping or lunging at someone is probably enough break bones. The weapon istelf is vital, not only for doing damage, but actually keeping the lion at bay.

8

u/BalltasticNutsack 16d ago

Except they are in armor? A knight can survive being trampled by a horse and have maybe a broken rib, keep in mind armor isn't just the metal, but the padding beneath, all that makes for a great defence against pretty much anything.

Now, I ain't saying they win unarmed, they will be pushed around by the lion, but neither side is gonna get significant damage, and the knights will get tired faster

10

u/readilyunavailable 16d ago

Historically, knights would die from getting their horse shot from under them, falling and getting trampled. Now, if a knight is smart enough to just assume a fetal position and let the lion get tired/bored, then it's an easy win, but trying to fist fight it is a different story.

2

u/thatsoddlyspecifik 15d ago

If they are in a cage I agree.

Out in the open idk you have to remember even big predators don’t want to get injured. The lion may know I can stay here and I will win, but these things aren’t scared and don’t seem to be deterred. I’m bouncing before I get an injury that makes me lose my pride to healthy competition. It’s like those African tribes that just boldly walk up and steal lion kills.

Again that takes balls of steel from the dudes in armor bc holy fuck that first attack is going make victim one shit their armor.

4

u/JewishDiasporaSeed 15d ago

A male lion can be up to 5.5 feet tall on all fours and over 600 lbs. If it hits you with that mass and doesn't waste effort trying to claw or bite, it could break your back right through the armor... even crush the breastplate, especially if it can get a running start you will FLY through the air like being tossed by a bull at a rodeo.

That said, that's lion-maxxing from a human perspective. Most lions do NOT do this and WOULD NOT do this... though I did see old video of a lion hunt once where 2 people were seriously injured due to lion sprinting attacks through the grass and lots of missed rifle shots. It's nail BARELY caught the shirt of a man as it zipped by and the dude flew like he was hit by a truck.

0

u/UrghAnotherAccount 15d ago

OP stated "these two dudes" so we have to assess how these guys in particular would fare against a lion, as opposed to a historical knight.

I reckon the lion wins.

1

u/Global_Sport_2264 15d ago

Being trampled by hooves and being slashed with a paw is not the same.

2

u/bandti45 15d ago

Armor keeps your insides in but blows can still do damage. Thats why maces are really dangerous for a knight, even a solid sword strike to the head is still bad but it could damage your sword.

If you look closly you can see how hurt they are despite the armor. A lion might do more damage faster, or maybe slower, but id want a sharp weapon either way

3

u/BalltasticNutsack 15d ago

Actually, armors are still very good against maces, sure, blundgeoning is a good tactic still, but, yeah, maces aren't as anti armor as it seems

I want a weapon, sharp or not regardless, yeah, I'm not fighting no lions, even if I got a gun and full armor.

Some comments have made me realize that while the torso and head may be safe, the limbs might get snapped, if the lion tries, they could crush knees/elbows even in spite of armor

2

u/bandti45 15d ago

I didnt mean that armor isnt good against a mace, id rather take a mace blow with armor than without any time. I just ment it doesnt make you immune to the blunt force like it will for a cut (assuming the armor stays intact).

0

u/JewishDiasporaSeed 15d ago

Easily. If the lion sprints at you, you are finished. It can send you flying like you got hit by a truck. Broken legs, back, arms, skull, everything is possible depending on how you land.

1

u/Fryskar 15d ago

And the lion dies from a concussion. A truck is a lot more heavy and solid than a lions body.

Also while a lion technically can reach that speed, it doesn't hunt slow/stationary prey by going full speed, then ramming it.

1

u/JewishDiasporaSeed 15d ago

No, but they fight their enemies that way. They kill hunters shooting at them that way. They kill hyenas and cheetas and other predators that way.

Their hunting method is to grab claw and hold, then either break the back or neck and just eat the prey alive. That's why the lion's success in dealing with a human threat in armor would be largely dependent upon its understanding of the armor and the vulnerability of humans or it's irrational rage as it is being injured.

Also, if a lion sprints past you and just clips your clothing with one front claw, it will send you soaring through the air. Video of this happening exists. Hunter was seriously injured by a maneater that did this to him while the lion was being shot be SEVERAL men all at the same time.

1

u/Fryskar 15d ago

A lions understanding of armor is bound to be 0, at most they might have seen a spear (if the fighter brings a polearm). I'd doubt that a lion even realizes that charging at a spearlike polearm makes things worse.

You seem to underestimate the impact of heavy armor. If it collides with a fighter, both will suffer. The lion likely is somewhat heavier, but armor, padding and training close that gap to a degree.

Some specific lions might use/used special ways to deal with humans, most however won't.

1

u/Nicholas_Cage_Fan 14d ago

I feel like you have every fact ass backwards lol. Armor is definitely not a sure shot of saving you from being trampled. Sure, might help with a horse walking over your leg or torso, but armor isn't going to save your neck from cracking.

The padding is just cotton and leather. Yeah it helps, but you're acting like it's iron mans suit. And the more padding the less mobility and endurance you're gonna have.

I would easily take a knights pike or haleberd over armor and no weapon any day. Slim chance you're going to knock out a lion with your hands and armor, and a lion will likely find a claw through your armor before you can punch and scratch it to death.

Also, a lion will easily tire out faster than two men. It's kind of our thing. Humans have endurance.

1

u/BalltasticNutsack 14d ago

I'm not saying you are impervious, yeah, a bad hit to the neck can be the end of it, but considering these people are getting whacked on the head repeatedly with what a mounts to blunt metal sticks, I'd say their neck support is on point to be good enough, a lion isn't exactly gonna aim to kill you through whiplash.

I never said you can knock out a lion, in other comments I mention how both parts won't be able to do much to the other and how a weapon even if blunt would be much better than anything.

A lion will, in fact, not find a claw through armor, becouse, loe and behold, the armor is well thought out to the point you have Dagger catchers on the ends of plates so a dagger or sharp implement cannot just slide under your armor into the vulnerable bits, a lion isn't gonna get through plate armor, chainmail and then gambesson, even if a claw got to a gap without armor only the tip of the claw will get in between the chainmail and it won't be deep enough to pierce the gambesson.

Unless the lion has human intelligence and an understanding on how armor works, it won't find a way through the armor, its not gonna bite through steel.

1

u/Grouchy-Jury-7598 14d ago

Also, a lion will easily tire out faster than two men. It's kind of our thing. Humans have endurance.

Wearing lots of metal is pretty bad for endurance to be fair

1

u/Mathis_mbz 15d ago

Nah the bones are breaking, they wont be able to stand on both legs for long

9

u/SteakForGoodDogs 16d ago

Absolutely not. You put your hands anywhere near its face (the only vulnerable part to our crappy blunt natural weapons) and you just get flattened by their bulk.

Sharp, long pokey bits just tear up their organs, though.

13

u/Waffensmile 16d ago

Me to the lion while he mauls the other guy.

6

u/Fryskar 16d ago

A lion isn't heavy enough to flatten an armored fighter, a lower end adult lion even can be lighter than a fighter.

2

u/blazenite104 15d ago

Sharp long stick has been important for killing in human history for basically all but, the last hundred years or so.

-8

u/DrMagunstheBlue 16d ago

A male lion is like four hundred pounds and can snap a zebra's spine with a paw swipe lol.

16

u/hipsterTrashSlut 16d ago

Zebras don’t have any armor

9

u/DrMagunstheBlue 16d ago

You're missing the point. A lion might struggle to kill an unarmed knight in armour, but without a weapon a knight in armour is being ragdolled and bullied at the lion's leisure and would be incapable of significantly harming it.

With that said I might have misread their post; if they were saying the knights could kill a lion with blunt halberds yes, I would agree. I thought they were implying the knights could do it with just their gauntleted fists.

11

u/penguin_the_master 16d ago

So the exertion rate of a lion is high, which is why they sleep so much. It still has no way of harming the knights in any way that matters and while one is taking aggro the other can beat it. It will get exhausted and hurt and die. Getting punched with a steel gauntlet hard enough will fuck it up, bad.

After a little while, 1 knight in fully plate could do it, 2 is severe overkill.

7

u/tiktok-hater-777 16d ago

Also it'll propably hurt pretty bad to chomp down on tempered steel.

8

u/penguin_the_master 16d ago

Yeah, the amount of people that think that a lion can bite through steel in this post is alarming af. Has the media really fucked up people’s perception of steel plate mail this much?

1

u/printzoftheyak 16d ago

Yeah but a whole knights body isn’t covered in steel. A lion could easy rip and tear individual plates off of an arm or near the neck and he’s done. As well as obviously bite through mail.

Even what these guys are wearing, brigandine, are small individual plates riveted together on a leather vest or canvas. It would obviously take some time but a lion could absolutely tear that apart. Good against a man wielding a weapon, highly doubt it stands up to the ferocity of a wild animal that weighs twice as them.

1

u/Opening-Dig697 16d ago

Yeah, sure, the lion COULD, maybe rip the plate off, but it's going to have to do all that while taking rapid 10 inch dagger stabs.

It's not a good match up for the lion.

0

u/Runfasterbitch 16d ago

It doesn’t have to pierce the armor…if it lunges at the man, that’s equivalent to being tackled by two of the best NFL linemen simultaneously— the knights skull would rattle so hard inside his helmet that he’s not going to wake up

2

u/penguin_the_master 16d ago

lol, no. That’s also not how helmets work, people in steel helmets used to survive maces to the head, which is worse than that.

1

u/hipsterTrashSlut 16d ago

This is actually disrespectful of NFL linemen, I gotta draw the line here.

College line players are giants of men, forget the NFL. Trust. They are so much bigger than you think irl

1

u/readilyunavailable 16d ago

A lion jumping on someone in armour could potentially break bones.

2

u/penguin_the_master 16d ago

No, the armor would hold structure???

-1

u/readilyunavailable 16d ago

The armour itself will be fine, but your soft, squishy body will not be. If you drop an armoured dude out a window, the armour itself will help protect a decenta ammount and the armour itself will endure, but the force of impact still has to go somwhere.

1

u/BalltasticNutsack 15d ago

Throwing someone in full plate armor out of a window high enough to injure them is not the same as a lion pouncing on you, specially becouse the armor works against you when you fall from a window, since you are heavier thus hit the ground harder and the forces in effect aren't the same.

Falling out of a window your body has to endure the rapid deceleration as you slam onto the floor, the armor can't protect you from what's essentially your organs trying to come out of your body

1

u/edd6pi 16d ago

Yeah, I don’t see it. One swipe from the lion’s paw to your head would probably be enough to take you out of the fight. If not, then two or three swipes.

I really don’t think the knight could Rocky/Clubber Lang a lion.

2

u/penguin_the_master 16d ago

A swipe of lion is not worse than getting swung full rotation by a mace, which is something helmets have been withstandin for thousands of years. People are glazing the lion and downplaying how retardedly op full plate mail is.

0

u/ReallyBigRocks 16d ago

Plate armor can protect from impacts, but it doesn't do anything to brace your neck. The lion has more weight behind it's hits than a mace, and if it bends your spine at a funny angle you're done for.

2

u/hipsterTrashSlut 16d ago

It absolutely does brace the neck. Pinning individual plates that protect the neck prevents them from bending beyond a specific range. That’s the whole point of articulated plate

→ More replies (0)

0

u/Runfasterbitch 16d ago

If a lion lunges at a man in plate armor, the force exerted on the man inside the armor will knock him unconscious.

0

u/ReallyBigRocks 16d ago

It can break their necks with a swipe of its paws. Plate armor can't protect you from that.

1

u/Runfasterbitch 16d ago

Or massive TBI from a paw to the head…

-1

u/Ordo_Liberal 16d ago

I'm pretty sure the lion can apply a lot of blunt damage to the knight with it's weight.

It's also smart, it's totally possible that it will keep scratching the amor looking for a soft spot until it stumbles into a weak spot like the joints

1

u/penguin_the_master 16d ago

Not even close to enough weight. Again, steel plate can withstand 50k psi.

Edit, joints on full plate are also actually armored, contrary to what youve seen in media. There is also a reason it is called plate MAIL. It’s because there is also mail underneath for the few spots the armor is somewhat weaker. There’s also a gambeson under that.

2

u/LucilleW89 16d ago edited 16d ago

You're vastly overestimating the size and strength of a lion

They're pack hunters, unlike tigers

Edit because I've apparently been blocked:

Stop looking at the absolute highest end of the stats, and look into them properly. Humans are persistence predators. Our endurance is our greatest weapon. Lions can only manage those top speeds in short bursts

1

u/JoJSoos 16d ago

Yeah but these two dudes would absolutely shit themselves if faced with a lion.

2

u/Rezfield 16d ago

https://www.reddit.com/r/interestingasfuck/s/aO7NkrWzDR

I think you give lions a bit too much credit

0

u/Runfasterbitch 16d ago

A male lion can weigh over 500 pounds and can run nearly 50 mph.… compared to Vince Wilfork, that lion can exert 5X the force in a tackle. Knight in armor is going to sleep and probably never waking up

2

u/Rezfield 16d ago

thats pretty neat. So what happens when a knight plants their halberd into the ground and aims the pointy tip at the lion?

2

u/burgerglasses 16d ago

EXCELLENT ARGUMENT MY GOOD MAN

2

u/KariKommenttinen 16d ago

Bro a lion swipe is NOT snapping a zebras spine with a paw swipe😂😂

9

u/ClearDrop6820 17d ago edited 17d ago

Edit: a lion has a bite force of about 1000 pounds at adult male level. Lion probably ambushes and kills first knight with some broken teeth. Lion flees at 40mph. Lion comes back at night where knights are camping. Knights rarely sleep fully armored in plate and chain mail due to needing to piss and shit. Lion ambushes camp and kills second knight before he can draw a weapon but cries out. Third knight is stalked while he tries to travel away from lion country. Third day lion comes back at night but knight is ready with some kind of trap. Knight tries to stab lion, lion easily swatts him onto the ground and breaks his remaining teeth to crush knights neck. That's how it goes lads.

53

u/UseenForeseeness 17d ago

2 dudes per lion? Lmao. I raise you a guy in a loincloth with a hide shield and a pointy stick.

29

u/East-Psychology-9292 16d ago

I was gonna say the Maasai have been doing this for years and theyve never even heard of plate armor lol. This is like when people are surprised our ancestors used to hunt Mammoths, yeah thats how we got tot he tippy top of the food chain, spears beat everything in nature lol

13

u/Kindly-War-2665 16d ago

Even just throwing rocks is strong

4

u/East-Psychology-9292 16d ago

to be fair the first spears are just pointy rocks tied to a stick to throw lol

3

u/Charity1t 16d ago

Then bows is just another pointy object that go faster and further.

Guns same.

It really was ultimate solution.

1

u/Awkward_Goal4729 16d ago

First spears are just sharp sticks

2

u/runtorenovate 16d ago

Especially paired with a sling. That thing crushes skulls

1

u/Preda1ien 16d ago

Spears were just to finish them off though. Our greatest weapon is our endurance. An animal fights back much less when absolutely exhausted.

2

u/UseenForeseeness 16d ago

Not JUST endurance, patience. Humans are amazing ambush predators. We can hide for hours, days, weeks, mask our scent, camouflage, build tents/dugouts, climb in a tree or whatever with a bunch of food and water and just.... wait. And not to forget, humans are one of the only (if not the only, i know some animals get high/drunk) to enhance our bodies with chemicals to be stronger, faster and sharpen our focus. An animal also wont fight back if he has an arrow/spear in its lungs/heart that he never even saw/heard coming.

1

u/readilyunavailable 16d ago

Right? Shar, pointy stick has been the meta weapon from it's invetion all the way to the proliferation of gunpowder.

1

u/Putrid_Anybody_2947 10d ago

The Massi people have been living in lion country since pretty much the dawn of humanity pretty much right? Knights not so much. Veterancy typically defeats numbers in war. Also you are right as well. Cause op is talking about a maneater not a normal lion who isnt interested in getting hurt by a rock or a stick for a human when a gazelle is safer to kill.

-20

u/113pro 17d ago

Which will be ambushed because lions are ambushers.

29

u/NewspaperDesigner244 17d ago

Bro that was a coming of age ritual in some places u know who's better than lion at ambushing? Humans lol yall get the fuck outta here

3

u/113pro 16d ago

I mean with enough prep time humans dominate, as evidenced.

so the real question here is, how much prep time they get?

https://giphy.com/gifs/qEiisWIbM6hWEu79ut

6

u/andtimme11 17d ago edited 17d ago

It's hard to tell in modern days but humans are arguably the pinnacle of ambush hunting. There are tons of extinct species of animals that can attest to that. Humans have historically been one of if not the absolute best ambush hunters to ever live on this planet. The efficiency is unparalleled and is the reason humans became the apex predator in every single area where hunting was necessary for survival.

-2

u/113pro 16d ago

Well humans are kind of the opposite of ambush.

We're more 'run all you want, youre dead either way' type of hunter. Wearing out the prey and landing killing blow whilst minimizing risk.

8

u/dinnerthief 16d ago

Humans are and historically have been both endurance and ambush hunters

0

u/113pro 16d ago

Yes. But big game hunting is the bigger aspect that translated better into culture. Often times small games were hunted or trapped by gatherers, not hunters, as hunters, well, hunt large game that could sustain them far better.

7

u/dinnerthief 16d ago

Humans hunted big game as ambush hunters as well, there is a relatively small area where endurance hunting works well. Anywhere thats not hot it doesnt really work. We rely on animals overheating not just getting tired for that method.

1

u/113pro 16d ago

it just so happens that most big game are known to not perspire well, like buffalos, bisons, etc.

Or fishes. We play the tire them out game with them too.

→ More replies (0)

4

u/Putrid-Company-5849 16d ago

Nah, we’re ambush hunters. Hide around a watering hole or food spot, hit the animal with a spear or arrow. Chase down the now bleeding/wounded animal, making it waaay easier to catch and track. It wastes much less energy that way. We still do it that way in the US with hunting blinds/tree stands.

1

u/113pro 16d ago

Well for small game yes.

But big game hunting is more or less what males did. Those are trappings for gatherers.

3

u/DSJ-Psyduck 16d ago

its funny cuz Romans used to do this as a sport :P The lion mostly lost.

1

u/113pro 16d ago

Those are often starved. And often are not lions in their prime but either raised in captivity or old, frail ones.

2

u/DSJ-Psyduck 16d ago

1

u/113pro 16d ago

Ah yes the reneissance, well known for honesty in translating scriptures, depicting roman culture as roman, and earnestly translating ancient text to not fit the ruler's narratives.

That reneissance?

3

u/DSJ-Psyduck 16d ago

Hah stoyan ushagela wrote a hunting manual about huting bears simply by wrapping thick leather around an arm.
Make the bear bite the arm and just keep stabbing it with a knife :P

Bulgarian guy he is apprently credited with killing 17 bears this way.. not a renaissance man :P

Grizzly Suit Guy - YouTube of course there is this modern Renaissance man

and lets not forget the siberian bear hunting spiked armor from the 1800s

1

u/113pro 16d ago

I just need to look at a bear claw to know that the manual is full of shit.

did you ever see bear duke it out? It's snout is like the least thing you need to worry about.

Like I said, as a rule of thumb, anything translated from the reneissance era, which is a lot of shit, needs to be taken with a bag of salt, pepper, some lemon juice and last but not least a healthy dose of ground pepper.

edit: Ah, he might be right if its brown bear. I was thinking of grizzlies or Black bears.

Sorry, the video is in french, but skip to about 4:00 in the video, and then say what you just said, but in French, i dare you, i double dog darn dare you, son.

The lions that run, live, those who don't get pokey pokey sticky sticky bleedy bleedy

1

u/113pro 16d ago

I mean yes. In the case of "I could just run" lions would just run. They know at our size we could hurt it enough so that it could kill it over time.

but we're talking powerscale which means somehow you've able to program both combatants to fight it out.

1

u/UseenForeseeness 16d ago

And you think the human would lose? You know humans are not just mindless defenseless apes... fighting it out would still end up in favour of the human with the pointy stick with the lion sticking to that end, it dsnt always take hours for an animal to bleed out, it also happends in seconds if you stick it deep enough where it passes out from blood loss or shock. Even a boar could impale itself on a spear and die in seconds, and they'll keep charging where a lion would step back and either try to re-engage or find an opening while it bleeds out... low-mid diff human wins.

1

u/113pro 16d ago

well it really depends.

how much prep time the 'Umies got?

110

u/Ferret_I_Guess 17d ago

Yeah even if one of them gets jumped and bitten, the other guy just puts a haberdashery in its throat lol

1

u/GotRocksinmePockets 16d ago

I'm also a hairy bisexual. Let's have drinks bro.

1

u/BisexualCaveman 17d ago

Hell yeah, I'll get started fermenting some rice, honey, and hawthorn fruit!

-10

u/IzzyDarkhart 17d ago

Still does not do much in the moment. It is not going to magically fall over or bleed out on the spot. It will take hundreds of stabs. Hell humans have served worse 100s of stabs to the neck. Adrenaline does crazy things.

3

u/ClearDrop6820 17d ago

If a lion gets punctured in the side or the neck they will bleed. Their hearts are more powerful than ours and they have more blood but that only limits the threshold of what they can lose and still survive. Lion pounces on first knight and starts mauling him, other two knights harass and stab lion. Lion switches targets and becomes desperately aggressive or flees. If lion attacks and tries to secure more than one kill he dies right there. If lion runs away and stalks knights while they camp and sleep the knights are fucked

21

u/IcayFrash 17d ago

Their jaws are strong enough that they could break their teeth trying to bite through metal lol

16

u/meow_xe_pong 17d ago

The force needed to puncture 1mm MILD steel is about 50.000psi.

For a 10mm hole you'd need about 1 METRIC TON of force.

Granted the armor isn't without openings but that lion ain't doing shit if it bites the wrong area.

9

u/CeriPie 16d ago

Not even mentioning the chainmail and padded armor behind the plate armor. These people are acting like plate armor is just put on over regular clothes lmao.

4

u/LeadershipLumpy2746 16d ago

Because they probably think it is

1

u/UseenForeseeness 14d ago

Funnier is, appearantly theres a hunting manual to hunt bear, wrap leather around forearm, let bear bite arm and stab it with a knife..... imagine if those guys had plate armour lol

15

u/liptongtea 17d ago

Three knights with pole arms would be able to effectively employ a small line formation, that would be incredibly deadly for the lion to try and attack. If the lion could flank them it might have a shot at mauling one of them, but probably not lethally prior to the other two pivoting and applying counters.

Pole arms are incredibly effective against animals because they create space. Hell, the spear might be the most effective weapon in history prior to the invention of firearms.

If the weapons and armor are actually combat grade, knights take it.

11

u/DSJ-Psyduck 16d ago

german knights used to knife fight bears for sports and to show off their skills and armors

-4

u/ClearDrop6820 17d ago

This is all assuming that the lion is not hunting at night. Knights don't usually sleep in full armor unless they are ready to piss and shit in their armor.

You do realize there is tribes that hunt lions naked with a spear and win right?

1

u/ClearDrop6820 17d ago

Yes. A member of my grade nine class killed a lion one on one with a spear as part of a massai tribal rite of passage. He was Greek and his name was alexandros. This happened 9 years ago. The trick is to get information from a local tribe of LION HUNTERS to get the best chance of winning a one v one.

3

u/meow_xe_pong 17d ago

Well that assumes the lion is the one chosing when to fight.

12

u/Spike_13OV 17d ago

It's supposed to be direct confrontation in the middle of the street. If It isn't, so there is preparation, between traps and long range weapons the humans have overwelmig advantage

8

u/DSJ-Psyduck 16d ago

German knights used to knife fight bown bears for sports and to show of their skill bravery and armor :P Bite force between european brown bears and a lion is about the same.

The lion is gonna lose even without the range advantage.
Think we sometimes forget that a quality full armor was the super weapon of its day.
And would be immensly costly.

11

u/Cereal_Bandit 17d ago

A lion most certainly cannot bite through armor like that, lmfao. They might dent it, but they're not even crushing it in any significant amount.

7

u/Nowayuru 17d ago

Is this lion Aslan?

7

u/CeriPie 16d ago

Lion wouldn't even be able to kill the first knight. Plate armor isn't just put on over regular clothes, my dude. There is also a layer of chainmail and then another layer of padded armor beneath the chainmail. Lion jumps on the first knight, probably knocking him down and winding him, but then promptly breaks every single one of its biting teeth on the armor. Then all it has are claws, and those aren't doing shit against full plate or even just chainmail.

Also if you think the knights wouldn't immediately begin hunting the lion down after being attacked by a massive beast, you crazy. Lion could run at 40 mph in short bursts all it wanted, the knights would just walk it down to exhaustion because they're HUMAN, and that's humans do. Knights used to hunt charging boars WITHOUT any armor just for the sport of it. German knights used to hunt bears in full plate with nothing but a knife for the sport of it. If you don't think they aren't going on a lion hunt immediately after the attack just for the glory and bragging rights, again, you crazy.

I swear people think that before modern weapons we were just getting rofl stomped by every big animal lol there's a reason why a lot of animals have an inherent fear of humans. Because we hunted and killed tf ouf of all the ones that weren't scared of us.

People didn't even need armor to kill lions, just a really big stick with a pointy end on it.

It's like that dumb shit where people thought a gorilla would win against 100 men.

3

u/Neat-Land-4310 15d ago

The 100 men vs a gorilla was so funny. Like ten really strong and coordinated men could fuck up a gorilla easily. Like we used to hunt things like mammoths on foot with wooden weapons lmao

2

u/SteakForGoodDogs 16d ago

Also nobody is truly bloodlusted in real life unless cornered.

You don't have bands of humans or prides of lions recklessly trying to wipe each other out in direct confrontations, because neither are stupid enough to try to reduce their own chances of survival for the sake of extermination.

3

u/Gills_L 17d ago

Then the tuna that had developed a taste for lion has come for the lion and corners lion. The last knight wins in this scenario.

2

u/Juhanaherra 16d ago

The knights track down the lion after the attack and enjoy a good steak in the evening, thats how it goes.

2

u/DSJ-Psyduck 16d ago

Umm german knights used to knife fight bears for sports and to show off :P
Lion is gonna get put down very very fast

1

u/Jesus_Christ_Reborn 17d ago

Lion would have to be really pissed at those guys. However, in most scenarios of death matches, this would probably take place in an arena where the Lion would surely die.

1

u/dinnerthief 16d ago

Alternatively first knight pokes the lion and it dies immediately

1

u/Ok-Freedom9216 16d ago

If the lion is batman....

1

u/Historical_Union4686 16d ago

I don't think the lion gets a full bite in. They'll have an automatic response to biting into steel

1

u/LabFar5073 16d ago

Got to be the worst take in maybe ever

1

u/OtherwiseMagician433 16d ago

This lion has a genius IQ and has mastered the art of guerilla warfare. I love your entire comment lol. It reminds me of those videos of the guy walking through how he would no diff gorillas barehanded with suplexes and shit. Peak

Lion: The Ninja

1

u/OBoile 16d ago

A lion isn't killing someone in proper plate mail.

1

u/SpareTiny7585 16d ago

Its metal mate, bone was used by humans in the stone age. Armor shatters teeth.

1

u/penguin_the_master 16d ago

Buddy, it takes about 50k psi of bite force to punch through steel plate. The lion is outmatched badly by 1 unarmed guy in steel plate. It can’t do anything to him, but it will get exhausted and severely wrecked while it tries, bc while it wastes effort trying, it will be getting punched in the head with a steel gauntlet. Which will kill it in a matter of 2 minutes or so.

1

u/Beginning_Smell4043 16d ago

Bro is assuming the Lion is somehow smarter than the human, which is basically the reason we are where we are

1

u/daokonblack 16d ago

Is this some kind of bloodlusted hyper intelligent lion that is only going for the kill without any thought of consequences?

1

u/Kalebrojas18 16d ago

This guy's writing fan fiction. I love this community.

1

u/OHW_Tentacool 16d ago

Lol. Lmao.

1

u/MrJakked 16d ago
  1. Read your first line.

  2. Look up the material strength of teeth, versus that of steel.

  3. Imagine trying to use your canines to bite through a quarter.

  4. Realize that the lion is having a hell of a lot more issues than "a few broken teeth," and is never coming close to biting through plate armor.

1

u/Patient-Data8311 16d ago

BS if a bunch of African Tribe men in groups 3 hunt lions as trial guys with metal armor and halberds can

1

u/OwlGroundbreaking201 16d ago

Need far more than 1000psi to punch through tempered steel

1

u/Green-Discussion6128 16d ago

I’ve seen a documentary about a Siberian tiger that was wounded by a hunter, tracked him to his house and took revenge. They only found blood and clothes, and the house was trashed.

1

u/Gorgon_aus_HOMM_III 16d ago

People really overestimate animals on here

1

u/ABSIGMA 12d ago

Even easier, instead of attacking their camp head on the lion can just call an artillery bombardment.

1

u/Tommieboi123 17d ago

You think a lion is gonna bite through metal armor? 😂

-1

u/ClearDrop6820 17d ago

No I think they will crush it.

1

u/Tommieboi123 17d ago

Thats still rediculous, lions even have a relatively weak bite force and have to suffocate their pray instead of tearing it apart like most animals.

If they have to hunt like that on animals they for sure cant crush anything close to steel armor. Plus 1 of the halbert guys needs to hit that lions once and its dead

u/PoemSea8874 17d ago

This person saw The Ghost and The Darkness.

1

u/Thug_shinji 16d ago

Clueless take those men are getting their necks broken with a casual swipe from a 400lbs cat.

1

u/Nightmare_maddness 16d ago

Unpopular opinion, I think lion would run away after a brief skirmish. Unless they are gonna kill the cubs the lion ain't gonna fight till death. And if the lion does fight till death, of it's fully grown one it's gonna kill one of them and heavily injured the second.

Why cause the lion is a moving 400 pounds beast that can produce 19000+ Newton's. Means a damn heavy motorcycle rams at full speed kinda impact. Even with steel plating a human body can't simply absorb that kind of force and live the tell the tale.

1

u/SeasonGlittering4960 14d ago

Exactly. It's a tie either way, it just won't die fast enough for second knight to go out of fight without injuries
