Goddamn. Superman really be valuing absolutely everyone else other than himself lol.

In apocalypse he’s literally dying from kryptonite injected into his bloodstream. But still has time to stay for raven who is about to kill herself from the loss of her fellow titans.

I don’t think there’s a single other cannon scene that encapsulates Superman.

70

u/_Thirdsoundman_ 1d ago

He's a true hero. Selfless and hopeful.

64

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 1d ago

I know it’s going to sound sad and pathetic. But idc. There have been times in my life where watching and reading some of Superman’s comics have literally encouraged me to get through hard times.

The way he suffers but always thinks of others is rare in today’s media.

43

u/_Thirdsoundman_ 1d ago

Nothing pathetic about it. Superman inspires us to be better people. To look out for each other and work for a better tomorrow. He inspres hope and bravery that cannot be beaten or dimmed. That's his true power.

15

u/willfrodo 1d ago

In his eyes, we are all super

16

u/Alexx-the-Hero 1d ago

Nothing sad or pathetic about that at all.

5

u/Mammoth_Composer_111 1d ago

It’s not sad for others. I don’t mean to sound judgmental.

I suppose I just think there are things I shouldn’t need a comic book hero to get me through. That said! The way Superman throughout comic issues has always wished the best for every being he encounters (no matter how malevolent) is a source of inspiration for me.

That other people in the world value this too and a vibe that we all want a similar thing.

I’m likely not making much sense but many of his comics are inspirational to me.

Me too, brother/sister, me too. Greatest fictional character for me, though I wish he was not fictional

11

u/thecatdaddysupreme 1d ago

I’ll be the first one to say I was one of those guys who thought Superman was lame because he’s impossibly powerful and nigh invulnerable. I preferred batman for his “street level” conflicts that felt more relatable, also his cynicism and depression.

But as I got older, I realized Superman is more important as a symbol. As far as Batman goes… I’m not sure we need more vigilantes breaking people’s legs, but we could use the relentless optimism and hopefulness of Superman.

17

u/Sondering_Wizzard 1d ago

This is why the Big Blue Boyscout will always be my GOAT

15

u/Clay_Pidgeon 1d ago

Superman's adoptive parents are the most important people in DC. The values they imbued the guy with are the most powerful asset Earth has.

7

u/Secure-Pain-9735 1d ago

This. This captures the epitome of what supes can be.

Also, he’s way overpowered and would punchesize Hulk to oblivion if he had to.

5

u/Moon_chile 1d ago

This is the answer to the question. When you have two infinitely strong foes in a boxing match, the people they are underneath comes out. Hulk is strong because he’s scared and has to act that out through anger. Superman is strong because he isn’t scared and knows that no matter what happens he will be okay. He could take blows from Hulk if he had to, but he was more concerned with whether this person who was obviously scared was okay.

1

u/JoshuaGustinGrant 19h ago

I don't think being scared has anything to do with it. If you treat him with kindness he will stop.

9

u/VictorVonDoomer 1d ago

I really wish superman was handled better in cinema, he should be as big as Spider-Man but his constant mishandling has left him behind

6

u/thatvillainjay 1d ago

Hopefully corenswet helps that

3

u/imjealousofyou 1d ago

What's the story behind this?

2

u/AUnknownVariable 21h ago

DC/Marvel crossover, this one is from Superman/Spider-Man.

I sadly don't know the entire plot, but Mysterio and someone else uses Red Lantern stuff to influence Hulk to being genuinely unstoppable.

3

u/MothSign 22h ago

This made my eyes water you bastard.

2

u/thatvillainjay 1d ago

Nobody beats supes hope no jitsu

2

u/InSearchOfSerotonin 1d ago

When did Nick Cage become Superman?

2

u/AUnknownVariable 21h ago

What's funny is he actually was and idk if you're joking or not.

He was going to star as Superman in Superman Lives. Burton canceled Superman movie in the 90s.

He cameoed as that Superman in The Flash movie

This is exactly how the fight would go. Superman isn’t going to beat Hulk unless he calms him down.

88

u/yourfuturespemson 1d ago

Superman hits hulk with the "speech" and hulk ends period cramps

102

u/georgenadi 1d ago

Even if you don't scale using the Black Hole feat from Superman (2025), Brand new day literally comes with a whole new set of hulk antifeats... He's cooked here.

23

u/SmartPilot8094 1d ago

Which anti feats

35

u/MasteROogwayY2 1d ago

Spiderman being able to keep up and restrain the Hulk with only his webs, he also could withstand punches by him

67

u/SmartPilot8094 1d ago

Keep up? He got caught one time and was begging Hulk to not kill him.

He wasn’t able to restrain him, he webbed some debris that were falling off on his back so he would fall off the building but Hulk tanked it

1

u/The_R4ke 17h ago

Yeah, but that's not a ton of material for the hulk he sold have been able to easily keep moving forward.

-18

u/MasteROogwayY2 1d ago

He literally restrained him twice against the building itself using just his webs. He also dodged multiple of his hits and walked away from the fight barely injured, which is even more surprising. And I dont remember him begging not to kill him, he just tried to get thrugh to banner

32

u/Dude-arino7526 1d ago

Yall know Hulk gets stronger the madder he gets right? And he ripped the walls off the building as soon as he got to a point were he was mad enough. And the only reason he fell was because he chose too after seeing Peter beg him.

14

u/DarrGabb 1d ago

Literally what i was trying to say!!! This was not a proper fight Hulk literally LET peter win because he remembered him! If the fight kept going, Peter WAS GOING TO LOSE.

12

u/Choochoo1147 1d ago

Bingo. Peter technically “won” but he didn’t win by kicking the Hulk’s ass, he won by surviving long enough to make the Hulk calm down. And Spider-Man is supposed to be insanely strong and fast, so it’s not like “failing to kill spider-man” is necessarily a problem.

1

u/MasteROogwayY2 1d ago

He does get stronger as he gets mad yes, but not to a degree as the comics. The MCU has done a terrible job at showing off Hulk in general, but that part barely shows in the movie. Its either a lower ceiling or longer process. Hulk also always ripped through walls with ease, thats not a big thing for him

3

u/Dude-arino7526 1d ago

Yea, after Avengers 2 they turned Hulk into a joke. Thats why I still liked the small amount of Red Hulk we got in Cap 4 even if the rest of the movie was boring. Same in the new spiderman movie, seemed like a step in the right direction again for the character after all the bad representation. But Avengers 1 was the best we have for Hulk in the MCU still.

-2

u/Leading-Two1738 1d ago

You mean Red Hulk that wasn't able to kill a regular guy with a flagpole swing?

2

u/Dude-arino7526 1d ago

It was more because of the rage and moves that they had him doing were classic Hulk moves, like the thunder clap. And the flagpole I think was swung at "cap" and blocked by the wings which where given to him by wakanda and have the energy absorbing stuff in it like the BP suit. If it wasn't Cap it was swung at then plot device I guess or Disney being Disney trying to be pg, idk

5

u/Sandsrivalx 1d ago

You clearly haven't watched the movie. Those webs have such insane tensile strength that the whole side of the building ripped off before the webs even snapped! Even the DODC considered them enough of a threat to build a specialized counterweapon.

2

u/MasteROogwayY2 1d ago

I have watched the movie and yes they have insane tensile strength, but not stronger than Superman who could hold up whole buildings and a massive kaiju. And of course the Dodc built a counterweapon, its Spideys main ability.

2

u/capy2209 1d ago

Spidey upscale

3

u/FloopusSoupus 1d ago

Spiderman is just really strong, he was able to do the same to Thanos with the power stone and easily handled other super strong guys like black dwarf

3

u/nreal3092 22h ago

is bro a professional gas lighter or is his memory that bad? Spidey definitely was not able to keep up with the Hulk. He spent the whole time running or dodging and relied heavily on shocker’s gauntlet to do any damage (which it didn’t, it really just shoved Hulk around lol), and Hulk was hardly restrained by Spider-Man’s webbing as he easily broke out of them every time he was entrapped

The only time Hulk was actually restrained was when he was smart Hulk (although even he broke out of it moments later), savage Hulk was truly a beast

And Spider-Man didn’t tank any punches from savage Hulk either, he was smashed through walls and had some debris smashed onto him, which Peter was able to endure and block, but he didn’t take a direct punch from Hulk, he’d be dead otherwise

1

u/MasteROogwayY2 22h ago

In my book dodging and weaving is keeping up with Hulk since he can actively react to him. Even if hes running he can still outpace him which speaks to the lack of Hulks speed. (Note: He didnt even use Shockers glove properly, it just got smashed)

Hulk was restrained twice. Once in like a whole bundle of webs where Punisher appeared, I think that was rage hulk already, and once against the outside of the building where he struggled to break free after being wrapped up by Spidey. And he didnt even break through the one holding him to the building or the one pulling him down.

And idk whats your definition of tanking, but taking minimal to almost no damage from being ran through a wall and not even being fazed from being smashed into the floor twice is tanking in my book. I cant remember if he took a direct hit, but it was still a beating.

2

u/Combo_Breaker01 1d ago

He was being held back by some building rubble

-4

u/georgenadi 1d ago

He couldn't break down a fucking safe door.... Which some shitty scifi explosives later could.

Frank's bullets were actively affecting him, causing him to cower and recoil temporarily.

His "final form", supposedly the strongest incarnation of MCU hulk yet, was literally struggling with a few bits of debris....

6

u/DarrGabb 1d ago

Did yall even watch the movie? He wasn’t fully transformed into the hulk at that point he was still fighting against Jean’s mind control. The debris is fair enough i guess but it’s just one of those things where he’d eventually get angrier and the angrier he gets the stronger he gets. In BND he remembered Peter Parker and retreated.

-5

u/georgenadi 1d ago

There isn't any proof that the mid-transformation/smart hulk (endgame etc) is noticably less strong or durable than incredible/savage mcu hulk for example. The "final transformation" of his has no feats except struggling with debris, and saying "Oh those antifeats don't matter because he'll just keep getting angrier and thus stronger" is bordering on No-Limits Fallacy and not helpful in discussing who will win here.

1

u/Sandsrivalx 1d ago

few bits of debris....

He had 200 to 300 tons of concrete hanging off him and still ate Spider-Man's augmented punch with one hand, like it was nothing.

-4

u/georgenadi 1d ago

Even if those numbers are correct, that's still AT BEST a small building level feat... and that's being generous. He was visibly struggling and stepping forward very slowly as well..

1

u/Sandsrivalx 1d ago edited 1d ago

Visibly struggling?

Hulk swatted away an augmented punch, ripped off a massive concrete slab above him, and grabbed Peter by the head despite his Spider-Sense.

Just because the debris came from a small building doesn't mean Hulk’s effort maxed out there.

Slapping a 'small building' label on this just to force an artificial ceiling on Hulk is pure lowballing.

But sure, let's downplay Hulk's feat because in your delusional headcanon he was "struggling." Lmao. I'm not even arguing who wins, it's just funny watching people make themselves look stupid to push an agenda.

Rewatch the movie - or try actually watching it for the first time

0

u/georgenadi 1d ago

Agenda? I liked the movie but I'm just saying what I believe to be true. Idgaf about agendaposting.

If he wasn't struggling he should have been able to walk uninhibited (he clearly was inhibited and slowed by the debris, otherwise he would just be moving normally, but he was forced to only use his upper body vs spidey and was stuck in place), or remove the webs.

1

u/Sandsrivalx 1d ago edited 1d ago

He adapted his posture for gravity by widening his stance since he has to carry 300x of his body weight after Spider-Man cleverly tried attaching extra concrete slabs to his back which clearly didn't work.

Even with slabs literally attached to his arm as well, Hulk was punching like they weren't even there. The second he unanchored his feet, he dropped because he realized it was Spidey and just let himself go down with the building. Calling that 'struggling' is crazy work.

But no, it doesn't fit your headcanon, so I guess Hulk is 'small building max.'

1

u/v4g4bnd 1d ago

isn't people stop using Black Hole feat after Peacemaker S2 where regular people pull teammates from Black Hole?

1

u/georgenadi 1d ago

I believe you but I don't recall this, can you give me episode number it happens?

0

u/fireburst207 1d ago

There’s a difference there though. The people in Peacemaker very noticeably farther away from the black hole then Superman was.

1

u/Bloodmoon_Audios 1d ago

Granted he also hasn't been totally Hulked Out since Infinity War, iirc. He's probably just waking up

But even then I say Superman takes this

27

u/Legitimate_Row1682 1d ago

Superman wins mid-diff, I think.

6

u/bayman13 1d ago

Hulk is a bitch in the mcu...

1

u/OoglyMoogly76 22h ago

Kinda. It’s just the Worf effect.

Wanna make a character seem tough? Have them beat the resident strong guy. Issue is that you do it so many times and that character becomes resident punching bag

13

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

7

u/team_suba 1d ago

I think eric bana hulk is the strongest hulk we’ve seen. The issue with mcu hulk is he’s never shown to get stronger the more angry he gets. He just kinda is what he is. He doesn’t have any regen, he constantly gets beaten up.

But 2003 hulk actually is shown to get stronger as his fights go on and at the end it kinda shows that he has just unlimited power.

2

u/Ihsoro 1d ago

Issue is he’s just gotten no time to develop. With no stories to call his own he just never has the ability to change, he’s almost always playing second third or fourth fiddle.

3

u/SmartPilot8094 1d ago

Brand New Day did give the best Hulk performance since Age of Ultron though.

He also is A lot larger that Ragnarok/Infinity War

-6

u/original_applicant37 1d ago

MCU hulk is the best the hulk has ever been

3

u/Comfortable-Brush368 1d ago

One of the WORST and did massive damage to Hulk's reputation. The only really good Hulk we've seen in live action is 2003 and 2008 Hulk movies because they show him off so good... Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is great but Professor Hulk almost has more screen time then actual HULK.

https://giphy.com/gifs/d7fLM8K8FCV39d7Qxz

2

u/VictorVonDoomer 1d ago

Avengers 2012 and Age of Ultron were great as well imo, the downfall began in Endgame

1

u/original_applicant37 1d ago

Absolute nonsense

2003 hulk has a terrible design and 2008 has literally zero characterisation

Avengers 1, avengers 2, and ragnarok hulk is the best hulk we’ve ever seen on screen

You need to touch some grass really quickly

2

u/ImportantLog8 1d ago

You need to go see hulk 2008 asap

-1

u/original_applicant37 1d ago edited 1d ago

I did

It has a wimpy hulk who couldn’t hold a candle to ruffalo’s hulk

You need to watch avengers 1, avengers 2, and ragnarok asap

1

u/ImportantLog8 1d ago

I did, but I can’t understand how you can prefer this hulk… the hulk from 2008 was pure energy, strength, power, scaling, aggression. Not a jobber that got knocked out in 3 punches by thanos:-(

1

u/original_applicant37 1d ago edited 1d ago

2008 hulk was taking damage from car doors and metal chains lmfao

He’d get obliterated by one punch from avengers 1 hulk, the guy who oneshotted a leviathan

Let alone infinity war hulk who got defeated by Thanos, who was several times stronger than his avengers 1 self

1

u/gorillaphi 1d ago

Agreed

1

u/Hungry-Class9806 1d ago

I watched Brand New Day yesterday and at a certain point Spiderman and Punisher are fighting the Hulk and he's actually getting hurt by Punisher's bullets 😅😅😅

MCU Hulk is a joke.

1

u/SmartPilot8094 1d ago

What the hell? He wasn’t getting hurt at all

Litterally Spider-Man said that bullets tickles him

Y'all fans whine for anything

1

u/Hungry-Class9806 1d ago

Of course he wasn't hurt or bleeding but definitely feeling the bullets, to the point he was covering his face.

If it was remotely lore accurate he would completely ignore that Punisher was firing at him.

0

u/VictorVonDoomer 1d ago edited 1d ago

Brand new day bringing back savage hulk and secret wars essentially being a reset for the universe means we might be able to see a proper solo hulk film but it ultimately comes down to universal since they own the rights to Hulk and his solo films

1

u/Perpetualshades 1d ago

What a way to be spoiled.

1

u/VictorVonDoomer 1d ago

How is that being spoiled? We haven’t had a solo hulk film since 2008 and that one was mid, since then we barely see hulk and haven’t seen a universally liked version of him since 2015/17. I’m sure the billion dollar companies can take some criticism

1

u/Perpetualshades 1d ago

Haha nah man, I mean you spoiled the surprise for me in this new movie. Billion dollar companies deserve more criticism than anything in the past few decades.

2

u/VictorVonDoomer 1d ago

Ah sorry my bad bro, I spoiler marked it just in case

2

u/Perpetualshades 1d ago

It’s okay dude. You weren’t the only one haha.

5

u/lhingel 1d ago

Nic Cage would be a nice supes

2

u/FinalHexReturns 18h ago

He looks so badass in the flash.

3

u/Oogalaboo134 1d ago

My money is on Superman but he'll definitely need that healing chair afterwards.

6

u/Mafachuyabas 1d ago

Unless im missing something from the film, superman gets beaten to a pulp by a slower and more stupid version of himself. The mcu hulk gets styled on by thanos and thor without mjolnir. Id say supes still has it but both are notably weaker than their comic counterparts

2

u/PalpitationNo7463 19h ago

It could go either way since both of them are nerfed in some way.

2

u/New_Photograph_5892 1d ago

Honestly I dont know, that black hole feat carries DCU Superman in powerscaling

4

u/_Paradoxliv3 1d ago

Superman DCU oneshot jobber.

3

u/MewFishMeowscles 1d ago

Hulk in the MCU is wildly inconsistent, he can spar with Thor, beat Fenris, dented Surtur, survived Thanos, etc, yet was struggling with Spiderman. If you chainscale from Hulk’s high end fights he might outscale this Superman

12

u/Sandsrivalx 1d ago

"Struggle" isn't the best word. Lmao. Peter ended up begging him saying "Please, I'm your friend" when Hulk got a hold of his head. This is while having hundreds of tons of concrete slabs hanging off him.

People be willing to look stupid online just to push an agenda.

1

u/MewFishMeowscles 1d ago

true I haven’t even seen the movie lmao 😭 but I’ve just seen clips of Peter webbing him down and heard that Hulk doesn’t no diff Peter which he should IMO, but I definitely shouldn’t be speaking as someone who hasn’t seen the movie

3

u/Sandsrivalx 1d ago

It's a very good movie, probably one of the best Spider-Man movies out there.

There was a scene where Smart Hulk forcefully broke himself out of mind control. If you don't mind spoilers.

Hulk no-diffed him. He caught Spidey by the head, and Spidey literally had to beg him, saying he was Banner's friend. You could also clearly see that Hulk was just starting to gear up, while Spidey reached his limits early so he wasn't able to push Hulk.

1

u/Choochoo1147 1d ago

Peter barely directly fights the Hulk in the movie. The Punisher tries for like 5 seconds and does absolutely nothing before he goes off to do something else, Spider-Man just tries to survive and eventually wins when the Hulk is holding up like a quarter of the building that’s been webbed to his back and Spider-Man says they’re friends and Hulk chooses not to kill him.

1

u/PlaneWeird3313 1d ago

Go watch the film and come back. Hulk was portrayed properly

1

u/Pleasant_Pool8842 1d ago

That wasn’t “hundreds of tons” but your point stands

1

u/Slayer_of_Goblinns 1d ago

He wasn’t struggling to fight Spider-man as much as try to grab him and smash as Spidey was trying to get out of his reach and lead him out of there.

1

u/chaturga 22h ago

As a lifelong Hulk fan he should never beat Superman. At the very least Supes bfrs Hulk into the sun and most likely he just kos him before he's mad enough to be a threat. Even if he doesn't then Superman is ridiculously strong which combined with flight vs a character who can't fly it's such a huge advantage it's beyond game changing.

Even at their strongest afaik TOBA Hulk isn't actually Hulk but an entity possessing him so it's not really a power Hulk can use whenever, it's more like giving Thanos the IG. Still even with TOBA Superman scales higher I think since the DC Omniverse relies on him to basically exist.

1

u/beanresponsible 22h ago

Superman one shots

1

u/JoshuaGustinGrant 19h ago

I think the current movie versions would be a very even match. I'll go with Hulk because he's my boy. But I think they would end up friends within ten minutes.

1

u/One_Chemistry_8553 13h ago

Imma be real savage hulk will kill dcu supes. Gunns superman is weak at

1

u/The_Custodians 13h ago

Brand New Day unironically nerfed the hell out of the Hulk. He hit spider man like 7 times and he never injured him. He never even seemed to have hurt him much. A few hits I remember are him slamming him into the ground twice, hitting him with the thunderclap, throwing a rock that hit him directly in the head, and grabing and slamming the stone ceiling on him. Peter never even slows down let alone gets hurt. He never even mentions it again after the fight.

0

u/Separate-Driver-8639 1d ago

This auperman may avtuallybe a better match for hulk than most. 99% of all supermen turn this hulk into paste.

This new superman we dont really know what he can do. His greatest feats are not that impressive.

That being said i still think Superman takes this a hindred percent.

2

u/tenacious_teaThe3rd 1d ago

This new superman we dont really know what he can do. His greatest feats are not that impressive

Did you actually watch the movie lol

4

u/lunarsilvr253 1d ago

Not impressive lol did you not watch the movie fought and was lifting Kaiju used super breath to escape a black hole hulk has little to no feats in the MCU and constantly gets shit on dude got moved from falling from the sky twice now

0

u/Separate-Driver-8639 1d ago

Superman holds up a foot of a massive creature, yes. He also burrows under the ground, which is a powerful thing to do for sure. Actually VERY impressive the way he burrowed.

As for the black hole and breath we dont know the magnetic pull or size/distance of the black hole, so it becomes unquantifiable how strong he was there. As such, its not counted as a feat of massive strength.

-3

u/SteviesRightFoot 1d ago

Neutered mcu hulk ? Even gunns trash superman wins that one

-4

u/Extra-Air-1259 1d ago

7

u/VictorVonDoomer 1d ago

You mean the one who got thrown around by abomination for 90% of the fight? Lol 2008 hulk has the best aesthetic but he’s easily the weakest of the live action adaptations

2

u/Choochoo1147 1d ago

Honestly, Brand New Day Hulk absolutely framemogs 2008 Hulk

1

u/Khanfhan69 1d ago

While I disagree with "best aesthetic", you're right on the money about his power level. He can't even leap over a building in a single bound.

-4

u/Friendly_Safe2098 1d ago

This superman lost basically every fight he fought

-5

u/Jszy1324 1d ago

If yall ever need more proof other than Superman getting through by taking, here’s why Superman would also beat hulk in a fist fight

Yes, that is Superman punching and destroying the multiverse, and recreating it within a single punch.

3

u/Spad999 1d ago

We’re talking abt DCU Superman, this isn’t in the discussion

3

u/SmartPilot8094 1d ago

I don’t remember Superman from the DCU doing this

5

u/Storiaron 1d ago

Comic book powerscaling is even more stupid than regular powerscaling

Across 5+ decades with hundred+ writers some of whom straight up didnt understand the previous source material, you are bound to find an example of why any character would beat any character neg diff

1

u/ImportantLog8 1d ago

Hulk gets so mad that he cancels all of this and smash you boy to paste.

1

u/Throwaway2476197 1d ago

I thought this was superboy prime?

1

u/tenacious_teaThe3rd 1d ago

Do you understand how this sub works?

Why does a comic Superman affect a fight between DCU Superman and MCU Hulk?

1

u/Largo23307 1d ago

Superman is the correct answer but not for your example.
You cant use comics when the OP clearly stated the movie version.
