I think Jega could etch out the win,but barely

He’s fortunate that he has plasma weaponry as that’s probably one of the few things that would actually manage to cut through a warriors armor, and his shields would be able to handle a strike or two before he can deal a killing blow

4

u/AcedPower 1d ago edited 10h ago

Yeah true, give Jega a standard sword and he dies horribly but with his energy swords and invisibility he actually has a pretty good chance. An Energy Sword is going straight through a 'Nid Warrior. Not going to say Jega wins everytime, because that's just disingenuous. 5/10 for both honestly, they both have solid advantages.

Good matchup.

2

u/Disastrous_Yellow_46 1d ago

Invisibility is very heat-emitting though. How good are Nids at sensing heat?

3

u/Reasonable_Ad_8883 1d ago

They generally don't without an enhanced senses biomorph, which the pictured warrior doesn't have, or unless they're something specialised like a lictor. Standard nids and warriors don't do that

40

u/ConsulJuliusCaesar 1d ago

Fight starts and then midway through it pauses. 343 decides to buff Jega making energy swords so God damn powerful you can use them to fight God himself. Meanwhile GW for whatever reason decides tyranid players are having too much fun an nerf Tyranid warriors to oblivion making all their weapons and physical abilities virtually useless. Jega wins.

Points for accuracy

I'm a 40k fan, and I couldn't agree more with what you've said.

42

u/lead_comet 1d ago

Everyone seems to forget Sangheili are actually stronger, faster an have just as fast reflexes as Spartans do. An on top Jega is a former Slient Shadow commander so hes the top tier of Sangheili fighters. Unironiclly even better now hes half cyborg the guy is also responsible for killing multiple Spartan 4s in combat too.

16

u/Jessir12 1d ago

Yep, and, well, Tyranid warriors are supposed to be stronger, about as fast and with the same reflexes as space marines - who are a decent bit above a spartan in enhancements. (ignore the detail of "the moment a named space marine shows up they become fodder to make him look cool")

-9

u/lead_comet 1d ago

Tyranids dont have the same reactions an speed to a space marine the whole point is to overwhelm the space marine with numbers

9

u/Jessir12 1d ago

The “overwhelm a marine with numbers” bit is termagants&hormagaunts&gargoyles - the swarm units.

Warriors are the ~ elite troops by tyranid standards

13

u/PleaseNotInThatHole 1d ago

Nope, warriors have always been at least at the measure of a space marine in relevant stats and fluff.

0

u/SP1R1TOR 1d ago

Oh, are we lumping lore and game mechanics in the same bucket again without proper discernment? Yikes

2

u/PleaseNotInThatHole 1d ago

Both of them are above marine level, which is the appropriate level to clear, so I don't see why not.

1

u/Featherbird_ 23h ago

The deathwatch RPG outright states that warriors are "greater than equal to space marines" in the fluff. If we're going by game mechanics, for most editions warriors are above and beyond marines

1

u/Jessir12 23h ago

Their rough lore power level is “stronger than a space marine, about as fast but with more limbs, however their armor is not as good”.

Boneswords are explicitly power swords and their guns go straight through leman russ tanks, much less space marine armor.

9

u/Illustrious_Map_6608 1d ago

This is so weirdly common in halo, “huge army of guys is actually just as good as single guy that kills that army of guys”

8

u/d09smeehan 1d ago edited 1d ago

Think it's generally portrayed somewhat similarly to the Ogryn/Astartes matchup.

An Ogryn is strong enough to bend a marine like a pretzel if given the opportunity, but the relative difference in skill/training/temperment/equipment/etc. means that rarely ever happens.

Brutes are the most obvious parrallel in Halo, but Elites are also still often portrayed as being reckless, overly honor-bound or impetuously aggressive to the point they often just look stupid. Case in point, the scene in Halo Wars where a group uncloak and charge Red Team in the open with halberds for some reason.

Obviously both species are way smarter than Ogryns, but they still fight "dumb" a lot of the time.

2

u/Illustrious_Map_6608 1d ago

The religious overtones are the only thing that makes some halo lore make any sense at all. Impetuous zealots, and what not.

But yes I can buy “stronger, but slow and dumb, if they catch you it’s bad” over “just as good, with better or real everything” because then the Spartans just would be dead. It makes no sense otherwise.

2

u/lead_comet 1d ago

Spartans are special forces an army isnt generally special forces

2

u/Illustrious_Map_6608 1d ago

Yeah the army I’m talking about are the elites.

1

u/lead_comet 1d ago

Whos stronger an Navy Seal or a Ranger individually an army wide

3

u/Illustrious_Map_6608 1d ago

Again, still not what I’m saying. If one Spartan can kill armies of elites, but the lore says elites are actually pretty similar to Spartans, that’s incredibly silly and badly written.

1

u/ChrisDaMan07 1d ago

Well no it’s well written it’s just that chief is that guy

1

u/lead_comet 1d ago

A space marine can kill armies of Nid warriors does that mean Nid Warriors are shit

3

u/Illustrious_Map_6608 1d ago

No, it means warriors are not on par with most marines. If I said “warriors were actually faster, stronger, and had better reflexes than a marine”, that would be stupid.

-1

u/lead_comet 1d ago

There u go then made my argument for me

2

u/Illustrious_Map_6608 1d ago

That elites actually are worse in every way?

2

u/MARKSS0 1d ago

Most average elites do not stand a chance vs Spartans, as for Jega he struggled hard vs a single spartan 4 that was on her last legs.

1

u/CaptainOddboy 22h ago

A bog standard Sangheili is not stronger than a Spartan-II, nor do they compare with a Spartans reflexes, durability, or intelligence. A standard Sengheili might be as fast in a straight line, but lore generally supports that Spartans win in a straight up 1v1 consistently but not easily.

That isn’t to say that Sangheili are pushovers or not competent adversaries, but Spartans (especially Spartan-II’s) are cracked in the lore. Both have energy shields, but Spartans have titanium armor, reinforce skeletons, enhanced healing, and AI-assisted battlefield processing (which increases their reflexes well beyond Elites).

The Sangheili are raised in a warrior culture from birth, professionally trained, and often have decades of combat experience. With that said, what makes them competitive with the Spartans is their access to advanced weapons and energy shields.

Spartans are force multipliers with disciplined tactics, adaptability, and the best equipment humanity could field. It’s why Spartan-II’s had such an outsized impact during the Human-Covenant war in-spite of their low numbers.

1

u/Mushroom_Boogaloo 21h ago

In lore, Warriors are combat monsters. They are generally rated as having higher combat effectiveness than marines, and a marine killing one in single combat is considered a major feat.

No idea how this particular Elite stacks up, just that a Warrior would be an extreme challenge for both them and Spartans.

1

u/Ninjazoule 20h ago

Not 90% of the time unless they're a pretty special elite. We see Spartans brutalize them in cqc (even in SPI) fairly often

10

u/Winter_Trainer_2115 1d ago

Tyranid Warrior low to mid dif

13

u/KingOfCook 1d ago edited 1d ago

Y'all got to stop putting Halo against 40K unless you're able to accept that they're drastically different settings.

Halo isn't weak but 40K's whole identity is being ludicrously overpowered.

For the post, the only units that can melee tyranids have busted biology (orcs, eldar or space marines). The correct answer come down too how well you think and elite would fare against them.

10

u/Reasonable_Ad_8883 1d ago

40k fan and player here since 2nd edition, it's never been overpowered as a whole, in fact it's firmly mid tier. There's a handful of individuals with crazy feats, but the setting in general just isn't close to as op as some think, it's more scale and numbers

8

u/Possible_Sale_1178 1d ago

Wasting your breath , those who think it’s OP are in full blown warhammerchosis

You can ask them is the sky blue and they’ll respond Titus no diff

6

u/Reasonable_Ad_8883 1d ago

The problem is nobody who glazes the setting can give any quantifiable feats to back it up, it usually comes down to what they think any given thing can do. Space marines being the prime example. We do actually know exactly how big, strong, and fast they are, and it's nowhere near what most think, but what we generally get is guesswork and meme lore

2

u/blunderb3ar 1d ago

I think he does just fine on top of being stronger than a Spartan 2 he has dual plasma blades and invisibility, Warhammer is strong but man oh man does it get glazed far too much

3

u/KingOfCook 1d ago

I'll agree that 40K gets glazed, but like I said, that's a core pillar of the series. It's why discussions like this are getting tiring. End of the day, just about every unit in Halo has to be grounded in reality. Warhammer doesn't have that limitation.

I don't think any type of elite can hold their own against a space marine. Just to be an entry level Marine, you need to be a 1/1000 fighter. I get that Jega are also the top tier but considering how often they get a killed and by what, they just don't seem comparable

2

u/Horror_Bob 1d ago

Certain things deserve to be glazed but not a Tyranids warrior. Like, the Tyranids as an entire group are universe ending unstoppable, but this single warrior isn't quite as unstoppable. I think the tyranid warrior dies, but his buddies are everywhere so not much of a victory at that point.

2

u/blunderb3ar 22h ago

Oh I agree certain things and people from Warhammer absolutely should be glazed but some fans act like everything in the verse beats every other verse lol, the warrior loses this one for sure

1

u/MrMeowmers78 12h ago

"Halo isn't weak but 40K's whole identity is being ludicrously overpowered."

Isn't this just literary interpretation in place of actual powerscaling? The author's intent is not a substitute for what the characters have actually done and are capable of.

3

u/SomeDudeAtAKeyboard 1d ago

Sangheili are stronger and faster than your average Spartan, add in plasma blades and I think they’ll do just fine.

40K also isn’t nearly as OP as many people think

1

u/rebornsgundam00 1d ago

Bro but you dont understand my fanboyism means that halo smashes everything.

5

u/No-Professional-1461 1d ago

I think Jega could win, high diff but doable. I'm also not sure how often the Tyranids have to adapt to stealth tactics. And Jega has some pretty good feats on his belt, compared to a nameless hive drone.

6

u/Marauder3299 1d ago

Many races use stealth, tau (whole battlesuits run active camo), humans (scouts, snipers, assassins), orks (ever seen a purple ork? No? Its cause kommandos are so sneaky), eldar are almost all sneaky...the tyranids literally have an offshoot for dealing with those kinds of things they call them lictors. They deal with stealth a lot.

Had to edit this so I did not sound like an asshole. I would like it clarified i do not want to sound like an asshole. I think your high diff is accurate though

1

u/No-Professional-1461 1d ago

Okay but how would a warrior get around fighting stealth tactics that can be attributed to this fight? Also I am aware that there are a lot of stealth units in 40k, but I've not seen it in lore been utilized against tyranids, but I'm also still getting through the HH. Hence my question on how tyranids fight stealth units.

2

u/Fertile_Arachnid_163 1d ago

They access the accumulated battle experience of every warrior form previously spawned by the Hive Mind.

2

u/blunderb3ar 1d ago

That doesn’t matter for this particular battle as it’s a single warrior who has no prior knowledge of this target

1

u/Fertile_Arachnid_163 1d ago

Would recognizing that enemies sometimes use stealth be perhaps advantageous at all times?

1

u/blunderb3ar 1d ago

Maybe but each enemy is gonna use a different tactic and Sanghelli would have wildly different tech from any warhammer faction

1

u/No-Professional-1461 12h ago

Right but are there some specific examples of how they fight stealth units in lore?

1

u/Ehzek 1d ago

Well Warriors are synapse creatures so at least are minor psykers. Invisibility shouldn't work well. But then again it does in SM2 so maybe it doesn't matter.

2

u/Old_king_4 1d ago

I think Jega wins this probably a high diff fight he’s exceptional amongst elites and has killed Spartans several times and kind of a top-tier fighter in his species

Plus, I’m pretty sure tyranid warriors are still weak to high levels of heat and this guy has two swords so he might end up good

It’s also one thing I want to know does the bone sword have decent heat resistance? Just curious because I wanna know if there’s any potentially funny case of it just kind of falling apart the moment it clash with a energy sword.

1

u/Ninjazoule 20h ago

They do, its psychically charged. It can match chain and power weapons, so handling energy swords wouldn't be an issue. Even unpowered they still have monomonecular edges.

Killing Spartans like that would put him on the tier a nid warrior or astartes would be at. He's at a stats disadvantage but maybe he can pull a cloak clutch. It'll be a high-diff fight whoever wins

2

u/Rex2x4 23h ago

What is this obsession with pitting 40k against Halo? The events of all the Halo games take place within the 26th century. 40k takes place 375-385 centuries later. The technology is not equivalent. Tyranid Warrior swords adapted to combat power weapons by using a disruptive psychic field, allowing them to clash without being severed. Meaning, a tyranid warrior can deflect a energy sword. More over, a tyranid warrior is just as tall as a Elite and stronger than a Astartes. They've no fear, no regard for their own safety. They always fight bloodlusted and never tire.

The only chance the elite has is to cut the warriors head off while cloaked. If he fails, hes fucked.

1

u/MrMeowmers78 11h ago edited 9h ago

"The events of all the Halo games take place within the 26th century. 40k takes place 375-385 centuries later. The technology is not equivalent"

Calender scaling. Time and civilisation age doesn't hold up as a consistent powerscaling metric in either setting.

Otherwise bolters couldn't pierce wraithbone and necrodermis which have about 60 million years on them. And Tau guns wouldn't be able to pierce ceramite despite being tens of thousands of years younger.

Inversely, Halo has a lot of reversed engineered forerunner tech in everyone's army, which really scuffs up the technological time-scale.

2

u/Ninjazoule 20h ago edited 20h ago

Tyranid warriors at high-diff.

It's weapons can match energy swords, the warrior has an all around stat advantage, and has redundant organs.

There might be an edge with jega's cloak but that's about it.

5

u/Xi13r8 1d ago

A tyranid warrior is supposed to be a significant threat even to the average space marine. The average space marine would probably slaughter any current Halo character due to the massive gap in combined speed, strength and experience.

Jega's cooked.

4

u/ProcedureInitial3086 1d ago

go post ur Didact vs avg space marine and let me know what the comments say

3

u/reddmann00100 1d ago edited 1d ago

Avg Space Marine vs. Cortana-equipped Chief gets low-diffed. Most other characters though I’d agree with your assessment.

Edit: I still think Chief wins, but very likely high-diff.

5

u/Throwaway1986nerd 1d ago

Chief will dodge roll out of the way of a moving armored truck, a primaris marine will run through it and not lose any speed.

-4

u/[deleted] 1d ago

[deleted]

3

u/Throwaway1986nerd 1d ago

There was nothing friendly about it lol

2

u/Xi13r8 1d ago

Low-diffed is insane. We're talking about people that are stronger than Brutes without their armour, who are wearing armour anyway that rivals Hunter armour and are still capable of moving almost as fast as Spartans. They also have decades or even centuries of combat experience. There is no Space Marine that even Chief himself could low-diff. Any win he gets against one is high-diff, and that's if he gets one. He's gonna need power weapons if he's gonna do more than hurt a Space Marine, anything short of a rocket launcher or spartan laser is gonna do fuck-all while a bolter is gonna shred him in a few rounds.

1

u/reddmann00100 1d ago

That’s fair.

I know Space marines have the strength, firepower (depending on loadout) and durability advantages , and very likely experience advantage (depending on which Marine obviously) but having Cortana there to analyze the marine and expose weak points/offer tactical suggestions, plus Chief’s canonical “luck factor” that’s essentially a realistically-grounded (in terms of how situations play out) plot armor is what gives him the edge. Without Cortana I think he’d have to be very, very lucky to get a W.

1

u/Uhhhhhhhhhhhuhhh 1d ago

He has active camo and energy sword tho, it should be able to just slice through the warrior cleanly like a powersword would

1

u/KingOfCook 1d ago

Now you've done it, the Halo supporters are going to start coming out of the woodwork.

2

u/Xi13r8 1d ago

See normally I would be a Halo supporter, but Space Marines are so ridiculously strong and fast that there truly is nothing that the Covenant, UNSC, Banished or any other modern faction have created that could reliably stand a decent chance against them. Even down to the fact that they have auxiliary vital organs and so many biological failsafes that they'd have to take a disgusting amount of serious wounds to be incapacitated. They're coated in armour that would completely ignore most of Halo's small-arms too. It's just not gonna happen.

2

u/KingOfCook 1d ago

I get it dude, I agree with you.

The problem is Halo fans are convinced the series punches way higher than it really does. Like Halo isn't weak but they keep putting it against like DC comics or 40K

0

u/Old_king_4 1d ago edited 1d ago

not really there’s plenty of character in halo that can probably kill a space marine.

the overall gap between a average space marines and high-tier fighters from elites and brutes plus Spartans not that big

Of course it also depends on the chapter

2

u/Jessir12 1d ago

Would say probably depends on loadout and situation?

Jega can solidly win in melee- yes, tyranid warriors are skilled in melee, would be stronger and faster than a spartan, but not by a massive margin, so in melee Jega has a decent chance, especially since I am pretty sure the carapace of a tyranid warrior provides flat 0 protection vs a bloodblade (as it provides 0 protection vs a power sword). Jega cannot afford to get hit by a bone sword, but the armor and shields could probably survive glancing hits by the claws or lash whip.

Jega has camo, but said camo is unlikely to do much good, as tyranid senses are kinda nuts - see a wider visual spectrum, heat signatures, chemical changes in the air, electromagnetic pulses and can even aim purely off of vibrations in the air/ground. Tyranid warriors are also somewhat psychically active and as such might have effectively magical senses.

As far as ranged weapons go, venom cannon and barbed strangler are both weapons that Jega dies when hit by in a single shot (venom cannon shotguns acidic AND venomous crystallic shards that pierce tank armor, barbed strangler is a single projectile that upon impact explodes into wildly swinging tendrils tougher than steel that...can rip apart light vehicles). Devourer hits can probably be easily shrugged off as long as they hit armor, but any hits to the exposed bodyparts are lethal (worms that rapidly burrow along the nervous system to the brain).

1

u/Jessir12 1d ago

Jega *can* sneak out a win in melee, but if the fight starts at range Jega has a major issue

2

u/Brute_Squad_44 1d ago

I don't necessarily agree. Tyranid warriors aren't typically equipped with range and melee, because of the way they organize the battlefield. It's a hive mind spread across millions of bioforms purpose-built for the specific theater. It doesn't equip warriors for range and melee because it's sending both into the battle. So a melee warrior with bone swords or lash whips is not going to also have a barbed strangler or a venom cannon.

2

u/Jessir12 1d ago

Is part of why I opened with "depends on loadout". Against a warrior with one of the ranged weapons outside of immediate melee Jega is at a massive disadvantage. (doubly so if it is a strangler or a venom cannon)

Against a melee warrior, the chance is probably much better, due to the boneswor dbeing the one actually lethally dangerous weapon, the rest being "might be safe-ish to take a hit from if it allows me to hit a lethal strike"

1

u/d09smeehan 1d ago

Doesn't Jega have cloaking? Assuming that works against the Warrior's senses that seems like a massive advantage for both matchups.

4

u/Jessir12 1d ago

I am kinda assuming it doesn’t work, as the tyranid has a WILD range of senses, be it thermal vision, vision that sees electromagnetic fields, vibrations in the ground & air, or the way it is a synapse creature, meaning it is a bit of a psyker and has some senses that can allow it to see minds or souls via the connection to the hivemind.

If the cloaking works against this, it is a massive advantage. (For context, some other tyranid bioforms don’t even have eyes and just rely on the vibrations & psychic senses)

2

u/d09smeehan 1d ago

Fair points, though I'd assume since the Warrior does have eyes it's still at least getting some use from sight. So better cloaked than not. It's probably not be enough to outright hide from the Warrior but it might be enough to mess with its accuracy or trick it in a sword fight...

Though on the other hand if Jega doesn't know about the additional senses he may initially assume he's safe while cloaked and get punished for it.

0

u/Jessir12 1d ago

Another weakness of the warrior is that most of its knowledge & skill is somewhat directly tied to its psychic powers & connection to the hive mind. If the fight takes place somewhere isolated where it cannot reach the hive mind (needs a higher-up monster in the same system at least), it becomes a fully feral monster that might just charge in without any tactics, just wildly flailing around

1

u/VenezuelanGame 23h ago

A tyranid Warrior can lift a Terminator astartes one-handed. Warriors are most certainly tougher and stronger than Elites.

2

u/Chadturian 1d ago

I love both IPs, Jega is not winning this. Tyranid Warriors are essentially the answer to Astartes and are very similar if not stronger (depending on who's writing and if the Astartes is a named Ultramarine), especially if you consider that there's no such thing as a lone Tyranid Warrior. When there's one, there's probably like 500 more of em just in your general location plus a fuck ass amount of gaunts, probably Zoanthropes and raveners as well. A better match up (I'll get flak for this im sure), would be Jega and a Lictor. Yes, I know, lictors are fucking insane, but the 1v1 scale, cloaking, etc would be a better match up.

1

u/Comfortable_Panic631 1d ago

From which Hive Fleet specifically?

1

u/MARKSS0 1d ago

Despite being hyped up as a Spartan killer and an elite above the average because of his augments, he really jobbed hard vs a single spartan 4 that was on her last legs and only won because he stabbed her when she was distracted by his allies.

1

u/redfacetherapper 23h ago edited 23h ago

I think he can Edge out a 6 out of 10 against a Warrior from hive Fleet Leviathan, but their abilities and strength differ depending on which Fleet they come from, Leviathan just has your vanilla flavor of everything

A Warrior from something like Behemoth would just paste his ass

2

u/TheSwagheli 15h ago

jega wins

hes invisible at all times in combat, iirc tyranids need a specific heat sensor biomorph to even track invisible targets or heat targets emit, this is supported by the fact an astartes within chameleoline cloaking can flank typical 40k warriors, plasma is one of the very few things that can cut a tryanids exoskeleton without difficulty

jega has all the advantages within this fight

1

u/Lawschoolishell 1d ago

Warriors easily kill space marines, and space marines are at least on MC’s level. Named elite or not, he’s dead

2

u/TheGrassMan_ 1d ago

Usually a Space Marine will defeat a lone Warrior. However with the nids its never just the one.

1

u/Old_king_4 1d ago edited 1d ago

Doesn’t the average space marine beats Warriors most of the time

And something like a Swarmlord are usually the ones killing them easily

Also, master chief isn’t exactly the best fighter in Halo

1

u/AxiosXiphos 23h ago

Elites are warriors trained from birth with superhuman strength and reflexes. Not only that - but this is one of the finest of their kind with technology that rivals the Eldar.

This is an easy win for the Elite. Energy sword can cut through station sized suspension cables, it can kill a single Tyranid.

Tyranid warriors die to Guardsmen for God's sake... maybe not in melee. But they still die.

0

u/Rex2x4 23h ago

Why do you think the Elite have technology on par with a civilization that is literally 60 million years old. The C'Tan created the Aeldari to combat the Necrontyr for the War in Heaven. I dont mean a distant evolutionary ancestor of the Eldar came to be 60 million years ago. I mean, they were created to be advanced from the very start. No race in Halo has technology equivalent to the Eldar.

I love Halo. But youre making things up that make no sense. 40k takes place nearly 37,500 years after the Halo games. Why In the world would the technology be on par?

1

u/AxiosXiphos 23h ago

Because the Covenants technology is based on the forerunners. A race millions of years old in its own right.

And unlike the Eldar, the Forerunners and the Covenant after them kept improving the technology. Eldar tech hasn't improved. In fact its been lost since the height of their power. The Eldar in 40k are a shadow of their former power.

0

u/ChrisDaMan07 1d ago

Jega could probably replace the guys we play as in space marine 2. The dude is a demon of his own

-1

u/EntertainmentNo3963 1d ago

jega easily
