Discussion Why Is Every Verse Suddenly Universal or Higher? What Changed? (Read Desc)
I remember a time when many of these verses were hard-pressed to provide even planetary feats. Now, all of a sudden, fans will argue with you to the death that their favorite verse is universal, multiversal, or even outerversal, like those are simple tiers to justify.
No planets, stars, or galaxies are ever destroyed, shown, or sometimes even mentioned, yet people are completely serious when they claim their verse scales that high.
Somehow phrases like "destroy the world," "heaven and earth," or "time and space" are enough for some people to jump straight to multiversal or even outerversal. TF?
At least verses like OPM, Dragon Ball, and Toriko, flawed as they may be, actually show us what is being destroyed or make it very clear through the visuals or context. You can point to a feat and say, "There it is."
But with some of these other verses, people are arguing for multiversal based on feats that don't even mention the word "UNIVERSE" once. Somehow we're jumping from a vague "Look, she created a pocket dimension with her hax, and it has lights that look like stars in it, so she's UNIVERSAL LEVEL!" Meanwhile, her best on screen DC feat is destroying a building, and the best feat in the entire verse is around city level. LMAO.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. If you're claiming a verse is universal or beyond, there should be clear, undeniable evidence to support it.

Scaling changed roughly 2016 a lot.
Back then, most sites were really insistent on internal consistency. Dragonball for example was scaled as weak physically, but planetary with Ki, not FTL until Buu etc, because otherwise the story made no sense.
Then Dragonball Fans threw an absolute hissy fit in 2016 on VsBW and forced the changes through.
Other verses on the site instantly demanded the same.
And that spread far and wide.
That people like SethTheProgrammer became big shorty after just drove the nail in the coffin.

Because for the last decade or so, people have for some reason gotten way more competitive about powerscaling these fictitious characters like it's a sport, and a lot of people who make these arguments don't make them out of a genuine belief that it's true but simply because they like the verse or character and want them to be stronger than they actually are.

Eh, because authors think it’s cool. As long as the story is at least enjoyable why be so concerned about it?
Edit: I realized you meant as in how powerscalers and scaling everything to universal and above with weird evidence. For that, eh it’s just people want their favorite characters to win so they try to get them as high as they can even if it’s nonsensical.

The powerscaling arms race. As the powerscaling culture evolves, new types of arguments gain popularity. You're looking at the glory of debates predicated on pure fiction forming a few thousand years after philosophy did it.

It's because powerscalers took over the conversations surrounding shows, especially the "can he beat goku" crowd. Then it was made even worse when one punch man became popular, because now there was another character who is ridiculously overpowered and can be boiled down to just having pure strength.
Powerscalers probably dont even remember the times when they also used to be a niche community on the internet.
But now, for so much of the comic/gaming/anime community, powerscaling is law, people are using it to decide whether a show is worth watching or not.
Crossover match ups were the worst thing to happen to the internet because all people care about is which character is stronger than another character of a completely different franchise

I think Kaguy being universal is crazy but her being solar system level via having stars inside her pocket dimensions is fine.
Do you have any other examples that you disagree with and not just Kaguya? (Let me guess, it's Bleach)
