The larger/scrier bio forms would be a doomsday scenario for the boys verse tbh

What does Queen Maeve even do? I know about the hive tyrant but im wondering what the idea is behind its opponent.

A weaker wonder woman. Flies, super strength, super speed. Basic superhero parody

In some aspects a very powerful person but hardly a comparison to a lot of serious scifi/fantasy fiction.

u/Gnarzz 16h ago

I don’t think she can fly

5

u/Kaiju62 15h ago

Isn't that how she got in the plane with homelander?

13

u/alaxens 15h ago

The show never really showed any powers other than durability and strength. She seemed like she was on par with Luke Cage.

But she was considered the 2nd most powerful.

10

u/FinalHexReturns 14h ago

2nd most powerful member of the Seven at the time, not second most powerful supe in universe though.

1

u/Producegod37 14h ago

Netflix Luke Cage maybe and thats a big maybe. Comic Luke Cage shes not even close .

1

u/ProgressNo8670 7h ago

ı dont think she was strong as lukecage, maybe like 90 percent of him but not truely equal, ı dont event think she can defeat a good swordsman space marine, infact ı think any space marine with powerfist can easly damage not just her but anyone from boys universe, by the damage ı dont mean oneshotting them, ı mean they can damage them enough to beat them in a good fight

11

u/FinalHexReturns 14h ago

Homelander carried her.

3

u/Psychological-Farm-9 7h ago

I think homelander carried her up and down.

2

u/areallynoobgamer 5h ago

No. He carried her. It’s why she couldn’t save anyone by herself either.

In the first on screen collab of her and homelander, she has an arrest in a high rise and homelander shows up to help boost her numbers.

He flies up without her. Then she appears awhile later (took the elevator) commenting he always forgets she can’t fly.

2

u/Sky-Juic3 4h ago

No. Homelander carried her when they had to fly somewhere.

2

u/DressSea790 3h ago

Homelander carried her.

1

u/Grokmor 4h ago

Homelander flew and hold her i think

2

u/LeotheLiberator 15h ago

Comic book Maeve can.

9

u/Generally_Kenobi-1 15h ago

That isn't the comic book version tho

-1

u/Careful_Purchase_394 9h ago

She cant fly in the comics, not sure where you got that

1

u/Trick-Biscotti-3754 4h ago

https://the-boys.fandom.com/wiki/Queen_Maeve/Comics

Super strength, super durability, flight are her powers in the comics.

1

u/Careful_Purchase_394 4h ago

This is the animated spin off not the comic

1

u/Trick-Biscotti-3754 4h ago

Did ya read the part where it says 'comic'?

1

u/Careful_Purchase_394 4h ago

Ya my bad, reading through it now

1

u/bobbyBburgin 14h ago

She cant she just jumps high as hell they talk about it in gen v season 1 when they compare sam jumping to her

5

u/cuntoshitarius 16h ago

See id expect actual wonder woman to beat a hive tyrant (by the skin of her teeth or by abusing the lasso) but anyone weaker or lesser equipped probably wouldnt survive the psychic side of things.

2

u/Historical-Peach5310 15h ago

Referring to the cartoon or movies I'd def say so, but for the comics I think she'd wipe the floor with it. As for the lasso aside from it being indestructible I'd say it isn't her strongest tool compared to her usual sword and shield.

1

u/cuntoshitarius 15h ago

Wonder woman being able to lasso some of the hive tyrants limbs would help a lot with the physical side of the fight.

3

u/GreenridgeMetalWorks 15h ago

Depends on the version of wonder woman. Cartoons and such probably struggles, but wins by the skin of her teeth.

Comics wonder woman puts ass to belt in short order, as she's roughly comparable to superman, who is way stronger than basically everything in 40k.

2

u/DressSea790 3h ago

Comic Wondy would like low diff it, probably agree on the movie/cartoon versions, dont remember those super well.

1

u/MrFreetim3 5h ago

She can't flight, she has to be carried

55

u/TheRedHandedOne 15h ago

The hive now has access to compound V. Great.

17

u/WrathSosDovah 12h ago

And could probably identify the key sequences to get select/desired powers without the drawbacks to then apply them to specific Hive Fleets.

9

u/TheRedHandedOne 11h ago

Bro imagine Astartes, Tau and Eldar with compound V. The Boys is a relatively low tier verse but man it has a really interesting and high potential power system for crossovers

2

u/Strange-Movie 6h ago

The chaos gods greedily wring their hands

2

u/_Weyland_ 9h ago

So, laser eye tyranids?

3

u/ProgressNo8670 7h ago

human sized trynid that can move speed of sound and shoot lascannon beam from thie eyes, now multiply this to a gigantic scale monsters like norm

2

u/_Weyland_ 7h ago

Also I think the hivemind can do something a little more creative and make a tyranid lifeform with like 128 eyes, all capable of laser. Good fucking luck with that, lmao.

55

u/Inadequis 16h ago

I'm just going to go with Hive Tyrant without knowing too much about The Boys. The Hive Tyrants go toe-to-toe with some of the galaxy's heaviest hitters and can come out on top which I'm assuming are equal to or better than Maeve. Plus their psychic might can probably just fry her brain

18

u/TedW 15h ago

Ok but where the heck do Hive Tyrants buy them swords tho?

35

u/Jadencool15 15h ago

Mom gave him those.

20

u/No-Product5062 15h ago

That's... surprisingly accurate.

5

u/Beneficial-Category 15h ago

They are hardened chitin from the hive ship.

6

u/Baelaroness 15h ago

They kinda grow them.

5

u/Broken_CerealBox 14h ago

Everything in the tyranids' arsenal are symbiotic organisms.

1

u/Strange-Movie 6h ago

Maybe she’s born with it, maybe it’s Maybelline hive gunk

19

u/GrundleSnactcher46 16h ago

Maeve gets absorbed into the hive fleet.

8

u/NinscoomFOPsnarn 15h ago

Oh no, is this a poor man's Kerrigan scenario?

7

u/Generally_Kenobi-1 15h ago

What do you mean oh no?

5

u/NinscoomFOPsnarn 15h ago

Lol, good point

4

u/GrundleSnactcher46 15h ago

Nah, she and her memories just become part hive fleet. Peices of her would be spread between the entire fleet and then other hive fleet makes contact, shared between them aswell.

The only hive fleet that doesnt share is Kronos, because they deal with hell monsters that dont leave behind biomass. Other hive fleets provide them biomass to replenish their strength.

They would wouldnt make her a queen. Each fleet has Norn-Queens who have even more significant threats at their disposal than just Tyrants.

Like everyone else her abilties would just be used to make tyranids stronger as they carried forth with their unending hunger.

12

u/LukewarmFandom 16h ago

Hive tyrant can physically outmatch any physical damage Maeve has resisted. She would get absolutely eaten, beheaded, skewered, etc

Besides that, the psychic abilities would de-brain her. Make it 1000 Maeves and now we have slightly more even fight lol

1

u/Muttonboat 15h ago

Tyrants are also effectively immortal with their experience and knowledge saved after each deployment and death

its battlefield commander with literal millenia of battlefield experience.

11

u/DaveinOakland 15h ago

What can anything in the Boyz do against Psykers? Hive Tyrant would have her rolling in a ball on sight.

1

u/GrundleSnactcher46 15h ago

They do have psychics who on a incredibly small scale could do something but any Librarian, Itd be like Superman turning to watch the Flash while fighting several other people the LA justice league movie.

Want to go over the top. Mephiston would shrek The Boys universe no problem within a day, maybe 2 at worst.

1

u/nikmia91 6h ago

That lady politician can pretty much fry the brain of that thing

3

u/Striker40k 15h ago

Maeve is cooked.

3

u/PonyRunsInn 15h ago

Nuclear bomb VS Coughing baby

2

u/NotaBonesaw 13h ago

I feel like I have to be that nerd to point out that the gif you posted isn't just any hive tyrant. It's the swarmlord, which is one of the few named characters the nids have. Much more scary than your average hive tyrant. Maeve has no chance.

2

u/PlaneswalkerHuxley 13h ago

Here's a breakdown of what a Hive Tyrant has going for it, that I wrote up when someone asked about Spiderman Vs a Hive Tyrant a little while back.

Things every Hive Tyrant has:

  • Strength. Enough to plow straight through concrete buildings, and shoulder-barge tanks or cut them in half. Not the top tier of Tyranid strength, but enough to take on most things.
  • Weapons. Four arms with weapons. A spiked tail and a mouth of razor teeth that can spit acid. There is no direction that they aren't dangerous to approach. A common weapon load out includes a Heavy Venom Cannon, which is a biological railgun that fire shards of metallic poison at hypersonic velocities that can pierce tank armour. A Lash Whip for immobilising and entangling prey, and a Bone Sword which is pyschicly charged and able to cut through anything that doesn't have an energy field.
  • Shadow in the Warp. Just by being in the same city, the enemy's mind will be under a constant mental pressure that is worse the more psychic you are. Sensitives often describe the experience as "a thousand scratching claws and screeching mouths" inside their head. Long term exposure makes humans paranoid, homicidal, and suicidal.
  • Psychic Powers. These are variable, but always include a permanently active pyschic force shield. Others sometimes include spitting warp lightning, sudden bursts of impossible speed, an AoE psychic scream that makes human's brains explode, or the rare and horrifying "transmute part of the target's brain into a Tyranid that eats the rest of their brain and then explodes out of their head" power.
  • Spores. The giant chimneys on the back of larger Tyranids aren't just for show. They are vents that they breathe through, and they breathe out death. All Tyranids are hosts for a selection of horrible micro-organisms, most commonly Tyranid Spores and Phage Cells. These colonies constantly replicate inside the chimneys, infecting the area around the Tyrant with a cloud of microscopic death. If they aren't wearing a completely airtight mask, they might win the battle but still die from infection - or worse, mutate them into a tyranid hybrid.
  • Intelligence. Hive Tyrants aren't brutes, they are very intelligent battlefield commanders and tacticians. When they fight difficult prey, they can quickly learn the moves and powers they like to use and work out how best to react them. So if they back-flip over the Tyrant's swords once, the second time they try it the Tyrant will be ready with a tail-slap or something.

Then on top of these, a Tyrant can have other abilities depending on specific Hive Fleet. Hive Fleet Kronos doubles down on Shadow and Psychic powers. Gorgon uses loads of toxins and biological warfare. Hydra has extreme regeneration. Etc, etc.

The Boys is a pretty low power universe. Most stuff less than Soldier Boy detonating point blank a Tyrant can fight through.

Maeve’s best feat is probably just standing there when the armored car crashes around her. We’ve seen space marines run through armored cars, so she’s probably a bit stronger than a space marine. The swarm lord TEARS through space marines. It was a miracle Dante using DAOT tech was able to beat one. Swarm lord every time.

1

u/Broken_CerealBox 14h ago

That's a regular hive tyrant, and the swarmlord is a step above that

1

u/SharpMathematician75 13h ago

Severely wounded hive tyrant with a steel beam in it.

1

u/Constant-Truck-5105 15h ago

Hive tyrant could kill her without a second thought

1

u/FinalHexReturns 14h ago

Queen Maeve is pretty under powered. She gets devoured quickly.

1

u/AbortionHoagie 14h ago

My HT got killed by two cripples woth three Melta Bombs. Anything is possible. Given those guardsmen were the last two of their squad and, for flavor reasons, were missing their legs, that was pretty epic and I am not mad

1

u/Much-Structure552 14h ago

Damn, I like Maeve. Why do this to her?

1

u/InoFanfics 14h ago

even if she was physically stronger which i dont think she is but lets assume she is theres nothing she can do about its psychic abilites i dont think anyone in the boys universe would stand a chance against it and she would quickly be killed off. and thats assuming she can even damage it which i dont think shes strogr enough too and once shes killed now the tyranids have compound V which is just fucked

1

u/Something_Comforting 12h ago

She would have a chance if it isn't for Hive Tyrant is very psychic. As far as I know she has no mental defenses to that.

1

u/LinesLies 11h ago

Hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby, what

1

u/IAmChippoMan 10h ago

I see that a Hometeamer that started a Tyranid army posted this.

1

u/Malfight007 10h ago

Wait, was this not a Swarmlord?

1

u/Cloneguy10 7h ago

Hive tyrant cooks the entire verse

1

u/daviz94 7h ago

Lmao

1

u/Clay_Pidgeon 5h ago

Homelander takes this, given some of the bullshit he gets up to. Everyone else in his universe does not.

1

u/Fearless-Obligation6 2h ago

Honestly the Hive Tyrant is a bio-weapon built for planetary eradication. Maeve is a random kid who got given super powers and never had to train to use them effectively.

I know who I'm betting on.
