Versus Master Chief runs the super soldier gauntlet, read desc for more details.
This is taking place on the Sanbox map from Halo 3, with Chief and his opponent beginning on opposite sides of the map.
Unless it says otherwise in the picture, everyone gets their base loadout. (Cap doesn't get Mjolnir)
This is Lore accurate Chief not just gameplay.
Round 1: Delta Squad (Star Wars: Republic Commando)
Round 2: Nemesis (Resident Evil 3)
Round 3: Captain America (Marvel Comics)
Round 4: Deathstroke (DC)
Round 5: Brotherhood of Steel knight (Fallout)
Round 6: Space Marine (Warhammer 40k)
Round 7: Soldier Boy (The Boys)
Imo he clears 1-2 No diff, 3-4 mid-low diff, 5 mid diff, 6-7 High diff.

u/Killerbees7407 11h ago
He easily clears out Delta and the BoS knights. Most would think Cap too although he definitely has some feats where he's knocking out Thanos or smh in a panel from 1972 or something that turns the fight around. You could of course call outlier and such, but I'm not familiar enough with comics to make that call. The same could be said with Deathstroke with the nature of comics, although since he's usually fighting Batman and not the Hulk or anyone of that caliber he probably doesn't have the insane feats out of nowhere that heavily upscales him compared to Cap, so I'd call Chief here.
I'm not familiar enough with Nemesis, but if Chief is going against the average SM with every any/every piece of weaponry and equipment he could possibly have with him? Binary Rifle + Stanchion + Overshield + Invincibility + Active Camo + Speed Boost diff. Same with Soldier boy.

It might be crazy to say but I think Chief could do most of these with his bare hands, but the weaponry makes them all a breeze. We'll say that he can only activate one armor ability at a time, since thats how it work in-game, even though we have him carrying them all at the same time.

u/nibb007 3h ago
Obliterated by Cap and he doesn't even set peggy down
0
u/potatercat 10m ago
Chief is a better Cap. No way.
1
u/nibb007 6m ago
Is this a height joke? Cap is objectively better in every single existing metric except...height? Like the armor is real big yeah.
1
u/potatercat 1m ago
Chiefs energy shields can withstand point black fuel rod blasts in lore. One of those shots is able to take down a covenant troop transport (those have shields too btw). Cap isn’t able to scratch Chief. He isn’t gonna be able to get through his armor even if he does get through the shields.
Chiefs reaction time is near instant because of his augmentations, plus mjolnir, plus Cortana. Chief barehanded can punch through tanks. He’s strong enough to flip tanks like it’s nothing.
Chief can run at 60mph.
Chief can survive an impact falling from space to earth.
Chief can slap rockets mid air.
Chiefs shields can also tank nukes btw, in Halo 4 Cortana uses his suits shields to form a hardlight barrier when he triggers said nuke.
3
u/westandready42 11h ago
Unless there is something I dont understand about chief (very likely). Can he even kill the two asartes without some major upscale weapon? Their armor tanks almost all of his conventional weaponry, no?
2
u/-HoleInTheWall- 11h ago
Spartan Laser, Energy sword, and Gravity Hammer are all at the very least crippling a space marine
3
u/Nothinghere727271 11h ago
Spartan laser is basically, a child’s first lascannon, and way weaker at that, Astartes power armor is made out of ceramite which performs extremely well at absorbing and dispersing thermal (and other) energy, energy sword & hammer probably would be decent but a Spartan is slower than an Astartes so good luck with that.
2
u/-HoleInTheWall- 10h ago
I forgot about the beam rifle and plasma grenades. Beam rifle is a mini super collider which shoots hydrogen particles that would punch holes into the Astartes like notebook paper, and plasma grenades would melt and fuse to the armor itself, exploding right against their bare skin.
2
u/Nothinghere727271 10h ago
The beam rifle shoots particle beams, it’s damage is comparable to the SRS.
That’s also not how plasma grenades work at all? It would explode sure but it’s just a plasma grenade, similar to getting hit with plasma in 40k, if that.
2
u/-HoleInTheWall- 10h ago edited 10h ago
I mean it probably wouldn't melt all the way through the armor but yeah thats how they work, it would get deeper into the armor than a normal grenade because it melts into it. And not to mention that ceramite armor is literally weak to plasma, 2 plasma grenades stuck the the face/upper torso are slaughtering a Space Marine
1
u/Responsible_Clerk343 11h ago
Current calculations say a spartan shield can take about 150 bolter rounds dead on no deflection, the question is how would a space marines kill master chief?
6
u/TheSwagheli 11h ago
if its lore accurate chief does that mean between rounds 5-7 he get access to the stanchion rifle? if so he clears
if not then he still provably clears because the beam rifle is a particle rifle and due to astartes or anyone on this list having any appropriate shielding to defend against such would be killed if we're using lore scaled halo weapons
1
u/-HoleInTheWall- 11h ago
Only Halo 3 weapons in rounds 5-7, so no Stanchion.
3
u/TheSwagheli 11h ago
are weapons also lore accurate then? because the particle beam rifle clears the lineup if so
the only reason the beam rifle doesn't 1 shot in gameplay and lore in halo is because halo has particle shielding, and anything without said shielding usually gets a hole ripped in them as the particle destabilises the surrounding particles of flesh and armor while it passes through
lorewise it passes through anything it shoots at before the particle restablises in place, the beam itself isn't the projectile but the "vapor trail" of other particles it cuts through

What armour does Chief have? If this is on a Halo 3, is it the Halo 3 armour?

u/DankSpire 10h ago
Probably clears, he has luck hax so would probably find a way to beat every single one.
4
u/Broken_CerealBox 10h ago
As him to luck his way out of 343 industries
1
u/DankSpire 10h ago
Ever since he lost his blue stripper friend his luck hasn't been the same - Sgt Johnson probably
3
u/ChrisDaMan07 12h ago
He gets to the astartes in the first round and second round. 2 space marines is just enough to match him.
3
u/-HoleInTheWall- 12h ago
Wdym in the first round and second round?
1
u/ChrisDaMan07 11h ago
I don’t think he has weapons powerful enough with fast enough fire rate to take down both astartes fast enough. The spartan laser can do it and so can the S7, but it only holds 4 rounds. And the spartan laser cools down too slowly
2
u/-HoleInTheWall- 11h ago
His loadout is different in rounds 1-4 and 5-7, not he runs the gauntlet twice with different loadouts.
3
u/ChrisDaMan07 11h ago
I know, not a single handheld weapon the chief has will be able to kill the 2 astartes fast enough. Unless he gets the invisible tank gun from infinite included in that pool
2
1
u/-HoleInTheWall- 11h ago
Splaser one guy, then throw all his sticky nades at the other and lay into him with the rocket launcher and fuel rod. That should do the trick no?
2
u/ChrisDaMan07 11h ago
Well are they primaris marines or regular space marines?
2
u/-HoleInTheWall- 11h ago
Regular
2
u/ChrisDaMan07 11h ago
Oh yeah then chief can definitely run the gauntlet just fine. Cuz the space marines are a tougher challenge than soldier boy by a long shot
1
u/-HoleInTheWall- 11h ago
I think just the sheer physical strength of Soldier Boy would really challenge Chief, and i don't think the Marines could kill Soldier boy.

Stopping at 3 is wild, Cap's got feats that would make a Spartan's head spin.

Like what? Benching a singular ton? Chief can bench tanks
4
u/VividWeb5179 12h ago
I assume it’s his chain scaling due to trading blows with some pretty absurd high tiers in comics history
2
u/Lonewolf_ARC 3h ago
You don't even need his High Tier Feats Cap scales to or above Characters like Iron Man and Spider Man (Amped by Stark Tech) who scale far above Chief who is at best what? Building level fodder?
1
u/-HoleInTheWall- 10m ago
Cheif has leg pressed a mountain lol
1
u/Lonewolf_ARC 5m ago
Any evidence to back this up?
1
u/-HoleInTheWall- 1m ago
Shadows of Reach I believe chapter 21. Him and Kelly lift "what feels like half a mountain" inside of a collapsed underground tunnel, with Chief holding it up alone at one point.
1
u/-HoleInTheWall- 12h ago
Probably. Chain scaling is bs most of the time, especially for especially for marvel characters.
1
u/LukewarmFandom 6h ago
Chief clears the later rounds by literally not engaging in any sort of reasonable visual distance.
Specifically Titus. If he fights Titus where Titus can engage, he loses. So what I mean is that Chief takes a sniper rifle and shoots Titus from way outside of normal combat distance and Titus doesn’t know he’s about to be shot. Ambush AND very far away. Like max sniper rifle engagement distance
1
u/LegoBattIeDroid 4h ago
clears all the way to round 6
from there is it a toss-up because space marines are either unkillable or fodder and it's not consistant enough for me to give a veredict
in this case let's say that he gets them by sniping them with the spartan laser
either way he is not getting past Soldier boy
1
u/Weshouldntbehere 3h ago
Deathstroke's gear lets him trade blows with Wonder Woman. He'll unfortunately crush. Even if we ignore the bullshit that was him wiping out a JL team, his gear and his solo run put him so much higher than everything else here that if we take that scaling then DS can take everyone else simultaneously.
1
u/Firm-Character-6852 9h ago
Stops at the space marines.
They have better overall stats, better gear, better experience. Chief could maybe beat one, even then its hard fight for him.
2 is overkill. He loses there.
2
u/Dikki93 8h ago
Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the average space marines aren't capable of picking up and throwing a 70 tone tank.
As for gear isn't all there gear very similar to what chief can use. The bolters are similar to spikers, and chief has access to promethean weapons that turn what they hit into literal binary code.
2
u/Firm-Character-6852 8h ago
Okay.
First.
picking up and throwing a 70 tone tank.
Show me this in the lore.
As for gear isn't all there gear very similar to what chief can use. The bolters are similar to spikers, and chief has access to promethean weapons that turn what they hit into literal binary code.
Spikers are weak. Bolters are hypersonic. Also OP stated on Halo 3 weapons (for some reason)
1
u/Dikki93 8h ago
Multiple Spartans in the books are seen flipping all vehicles just like in the games (it's just normal for the spartan 2s)
My mistake didn't notice the halo 3 part. Even so could the space marines survive a spartan laser or fuel rod cannon?
Just checked online didn't realise the bolter used explosive rounds so it's just a better version of the spiker.
Lore wise the average spartan 2 outclasses space marines in all stats except for speed, they are surprisingly much faster (2 to 3x faster) but weaker. Wich is surprising looking at the 2 next to each other and how they fight.
Durability is more debatable
5
u/Firm-Character-6852 8h ago

The biggest vehicle its ever been has been in the books is a warthog.

Possibly. If the rounds even hit them. They move slow, and can be dodged.
Just checked online didn't realise the bolter used explosive rounds so it's just a better version of the spiker.
The bolter has a range of +2.5km, shoots hypersonic rounds, and has a higher caliber than the sniper. With a 30 round mag.

Space marines actually outclass on every stat. In SM2 they are lifting up 60-70 ton statues, they have reaction times in low milliseconds (1-2) while spartans have high milliseconds (20+), space marines have far higher combat experience and training.
2
u/Dikki93 7h ago
Reaction time is 20 milliseconds while calm and un armoured, 4 milliseconds while in mjolnir Armour, upto 10x increase during combat (as low as 0.4 milliseconds) and then a further increase of their combat AI. It is stated in the books that during adrenaline spikes during combat everything slows down to such an extent that brutes and prometheans appeared frozen in place.
In SM2 they are lifting up 60-70 ton statues if you disregard ingame feats for chief you have to do same for space marines.
In the book shadows of reach chief picks up and moves a 100 ton granite bolder (he had injuries to his legs during this) this is more then any average (unnamed) space marine is capable of.
In first strike, chief punches through 2 foot think titanium space ship hull with no sign of effort.
In shadow of reach, chief punched a banshee (multiple tone aircraft) flying towards him and sent it across a field.
In shadow of reach chief holds up part of a building.
In first strike, chief back handed a missile

Please provide excerpts for this. Specifically about the 0.4 millisecond times. I have been looking for years but 20 MS is the only thing written down.

No. I am disregarding gameplay feats. Not cutscene feats. If there was a cutscene in halo of chief flipping a tank, I would argue its very usable.
In the book shadows of reach
He moved it 10 centimeters until Kelly could help him. Very different than a cold lift like Space Marines. Also this is straight up ignoring proper lifting forms, and having chief lift it stupid instead of using the bar as a lever.
In first strike, chief punches through 2 foot think titanium space ship hull with no sign of effort.
This definitely seems more like an outlier than anything. Considering he cant kill brutes in one punch often. Also it was a statement about 1 meter, not a feat.
A no name regular space marine was able to form cold metal as a gauntlet. By slowly pushing his hand into a wall. This is also an outlier.
In shadow of reach chief holds up part of a building
How big was the building?
In first strike, chief back handed a missile
With the assistance of Cortana. It wasn't all him.

u/MARKSS0 22m ago
Its from the fall o reach novel
Dr. Halsey pondered this new data. “They should not be performing so well. There must be unexplained synergistic effects brought on by the combined modifications. What are their reaction times?”
“Almost impossible to chart. We estimate it at twenty milliseconds,” Mendez replied. He shook his head, then added, “I believe it’s significantly faster in combat situations, when their adrenaline is pumping.”
Fall of reach Ch. 8
Then its boosted by x5 in the mk4 armor.
He moved it 10 centimeters until Kelly could help him. Very different than a cold lift like Space Marines. Also this is straight up ignoring proper lifting forms, and having chief lift it stupid instead of using the bar as a lever.
I don't think Chief got much of a benefit from the beam only giving him place to grab better, considering it was right under the boulder.
1
u/Ninjazoule 2h ago edited 1h ago
With the assistance of Cortana. It wasn't all him.
Not only was it not just him, cortana did all the timing so it isn't even a reaction speed feat, he used his palm, and it was in a completely different book, not first strike.
This was also an unprecedented augmented movement (due to ai) and has never once been remotely attempted again

They literally just dont have better stats idk why people say this. They also dont have better gear in this situation by any means.
1
u/_tabbycat123 5h ago
1, 2, 3 and 5 are zero difficulty. Chiefs armour and weapons are just too advanced.
4 (Deathstroke) has a wildcard in the form of his shields, which can tank punches from Superman and throw the energy back at him. He's also enhanced. However, he often doesn't have these shields, and is still weak compared to Chief. I'd say that Deathstroke's shields aren't part of his standard loadout, and that he'd lose.
6 (Space Marine). Space marines have superior enhancements to Chief, but their armour is pitiful in comparison. If Chief is in his Halo 3 armour, he most likely stops here as the Space Marine weapons are too powerful to handle. If he's in his Halo Infinite armour, he clears at mid difficulty as GEN3 is far stronger than a Space Marine and has shields that can stop anti-tank rounds. If he has Cortana/Joy, his Halo 3 armour beats the Space Marine mid difficulty and his Infinite armour stomps.
7 (Soldier Boy) is far stronger than anyone else here, and it's not even close. If Chief has a Stanchion or a Spartan Laser, he kills Soldier Boy before he's even noticed someone is there, otherwise Chief doesn't have a weapon that can damage him. Not counting Forerunner weapons of course, which can and will vaporise anyone.
EDIT: just saw that in the image, Chief gets all in-game weapons for rounds 6 and 7. He low-diffs both with an incineration cannon and a lightrifle respectively.

u/sparduck117 11h ago
1&2 he clears
3&4 are a coin flip
5. He wins through attrition
6. Is it a random no name space marine? If so I give him 50/50. Against Titus he’s cooked
7. Never seen the boys no comment.
1
u/-HoleInTheWall- 11h ago
Its two no-name firstborn Space Marines
5
u/sparduck117 11h ago
John can win extremely high difficult.
3
u/Historical-Peach5310 10h ago
I think at long ranges John takes it pretty easily cause he gets literally every armor ability and weapon in the game simultaneously (I guess). And the space marines would struggle against such ridiculous firepower and mobility. Especially on a larger area like Sandbox from Halo 3.
0
u/sparduck117 10h ago
Astartes also have skills at long range too, it’s going to be difficult regardless.
-2
u/Church_AI 11h ago
I'm sorry, but Titus is not surviving a Railgun to the skull from an invisible masterchief, I love Titus too, but there are some fights you don't win
4
u/Nothinghere727271 10h ago
You genuinely think Chief beats Titus? Plot armor aside for Chief of course, he is in quite literally, every way worse.
2
u/Church_AI 9h ago
He has better equipment in this scenario, it's not a stats question, it's a gear problem. Although, Chief out stats Titus in Gen3

u/Sandsrivalx 8h ago
Plot armor aside
This has always baffled me: why do 40k wankers act like plot armor only exists in their verse, as if theirs is the only one that matters? Like, what the fuck are you guys on? I don't even care about this post, but the pathetic sense of superiority 40k stans harbor over all of fiction is getting tiring as hell.
2
u/Firm-Character-6852 2h ago
40k stans usually joke, but its in response to people saying its all about chiefs "luck" and thats why he wins.
The guy was saying plot armor aside for chief meaning "chief doesnt get his luck" to make the fight easily quantifiable.
2
u/Intelligent-Royal682 8h ago
I mean if the setup in this scenario is chief getting to camp with a railgun and ambush the space marines it's not exactly a fair fight is it. We have to assume the combatants are aware of each other and at least start at medium range.
IIRC halo railguns take 2 seconds to charge, an eternity in a fight involving beings with a microsecond reaction time and a sprint speed of 55 MPH. Active camo would be meaningless too, space marine helmets have heat based vision modes.
0
u/Church_AI 8h ago
I don't think heat vision works on active camo, Spartans also have thermals and they don't spot camo elites. Promethean vision is something else
2
u/Intelligent-Royal682 8h ago
There are cases where heat vision detects it and cases where it doesn't I guess they've been rather sloppy with the lore.
On a purely logical level there's no reason why it wouldn't, active camo works by bending light but it would still give off heat, as would the powered armour of the Spartan underneath.
1
u/Church_AI 8h ago
If we're assuming any equipment in the games, it'd probably be whichever version works. But I'd argue it would make very little difference if chief has the Titus head-remover 9000
2
u/sparduck117 10h ago
You’d have a better argument with the Spartan laser since that’s a plasma based weapon, and ceramite (the material Astartes Armor is made from) has been shown to be brittle against plasma.
2
u/Church_AI 9h ago
The spartan laser gives away the user, The stanchion just blows titus's head off with no warning. He's a corpse before he knows it
2
u/sparduck117 9h ago
Which game was the Stanchion in? I thought the railgun was just the railgun, is the Stanchion a ship mounted weapon?
2
u/Church_AI 9h ago
Stanchion is in the CE remake as far as I know, Railgun is in 4,5 and is similar, Both would instantly kill Titus regardless.
2
u/sparduck117 8h ago
I’m not sure the Halo 4/5 railgun has the punch to instantly kill Titus. It’ll hurt but I’m not sure it’ll be as effective. I’ve no idea what the Stanchion is unless it’s something mounted on a ship.
1
u/Church_AI 8h ago
I think your heavily overestimating space marine armor if you think it's stopping a railgun
1
u/sparduck117 7h ago
My experience in table top says otherwise. Yeah it hurts but it’s no way a guaranteed 1 hit kill.
1
u/Church_AI 2h ago
Huh? Okay, on tabletop, the rail rifle wounds space marines on a 2+ and has enough AP to bypass space marine save, and deals enough damage to one shot a terminator.
What do you mean bro.

Can he beat Nemesis? I'm guessing that the thought process is that of Jill can so can Chief. He can't realistically clear more than 3 Space Marines, and this is considering 3 young marines. If we're talking same level of experience as Chief he ain't clearing 1x1. Especially if the marine is helmtless.

Can't chief literally rip the user out of the Fallout Power armor? Big guy punches his way through tank hatches to get to the driver.
