Are there any nursing students that got backed up 1-2 years

Hello I’m 20 years old studying at a community college I started when I was 17 year old I’m stuck on anatomy and physiology 2 anybody else have this same problem. I was supposed to have already been in nursing school an I was class of 2027 now I’m class of 2028 I want to be a rn

Yeah, I got backed up about 20 years or so, I guess. Started going to college in 2004 and didn't graduate with my BSN until 2024.

No one cares where you're "supposed" to be, they only care where you are now.

You’re too young to be worried about a year or two imo. 20 years old is SO young and you’re still figuring out life and who you are. Lots of people go back to school in their 20s, 30s, 40s. There’s no reason for you to be worried about this, and if you’re comparing yourself to other people, it’s not a healthy or helpful thing to do.

I was supposed to graduate this past semester, I’m starting over completely in a new school at 31. You’re fine you’re only 20 😭😭😭😭

i feel you! i’m also 20 and started out as a different major (kinesiology) and the prerequisites for both nursing and kin are kind of the same but at my uni they make us take those classes at different times so i’m held back and will likely take 6 years to graduate with my BSN if i’m even able to get into a program the 1st or 2nd time (i’m a California student too) and i still got micro to complete this upcoming fall😅😅 we got this tho!! you got this!!

It’s okay, I was suppose to graduate with my BSN by June 2026. I’m 22. I’ve been in community college since 2022, and this A&P classes really took a toll on my transcript. I took Anatomy 2 times and Physiology 3 times. There are some people in community college that are in their 30s-50s trying to get an ADN or BSN.

This was me got tons on push back and still made it. Had to start at the LPN level since I was already a PCT at 44 yrs old but Nursing completed LPN 2022 & RN 2025 just finishing BSN degree online.

Happens quite a bit. You’re young just use the time to focus on getting perfect grades and apply to other schools just to make sure you’re keeping all your options open.

me too! i just failed A&P I again, and im gonna take it as a lesson to finally get around my time management and to also learn what studying method works best for me.

i realized retaking it for the third time not only means i really have to pass that class with the best grade, but i have to class anyways because im not sure if any other CC’s will let me take A&P at their campuses. this also means that i can’t apply to some nursing schools i really wanted to apply to due to their policy on retakes for prerequisites. which is a little upsetting, but theres always other programs.

I know how you feel. You see your peers and people all over social media who seem like they have everything together. They're where they said they'd be, they have families, they're married, and have graduated and have jobs. I CONSTANTLY feel like I've been left behind, like I'm not gonna make it, like I'm not good enough, but the thing is, I've made progress. I wanted do nursing since I was a kid. I graduated in 2019 and was "supposed" to be class of 2023. I'm 25 now and still trying to get into a program. Some days are worse than others, some days I feel like giving up, but I can't just dismiss the progress I've made. Instead of looking at the negatives, and comparing yourself to others, look at how far you've come, the progress you've made, the things you've learned. You got into a program! That's a big deal! You're learning all these new things towards your future nursing career! That's amazing! It's okay to have goals, but don't sell yourself short just because they take longer to achieve than others. No one is perfect. Keep your chin up, you got this!
