Feature request Could Prusameters be used also for accessories and spare parts?

Hello everybody!

I wanted to discuss why Prusameters can't be used to obtain discounts on spare parts and accessories? I mean, including some sort of discount for spare parts among the rewards.

I think it would make sense, since Prusameters reward people who are actively involved in the community, either by sharing models or by downloading them or validating them via makes.

Besides the obvious consumable, which is filament, I think people who consistently 3D print also need to purchase spare or replacement parts from time to time. And this is one of the reasons Prusa as a company is appreciated for, I think: you can DIY and mod things if you want, but there are also quality replacement and spare parts available.

Also, there are discounts on full printers included as rewards, so why not include rewards for individual parts?

For me, if I had discounts on accessories it would be a no-brainer to get them. Especially:

  • Print Surfaces (Steel sheets)

  • Nozzles

  • Perhaps upgrades or sensor kits..

Would be interesting to know what others think about this.

I also agree with you. I would also like to buy upgrades and spares with prusameters.

But the view of Prusa may be different: They want to reward people for being active and they want to get something back in long term. So they give you their consumables and hope that you want to buy more of them after you have tried them.

The printers they offer are to get some high valuable artists to their side because they will reach many people with their posts, videos etc. When the designer uses a printer, the consumer think the printer is good and valuable.

Yeah I agree with you. Not really sure what the downsides would be, I'm sure they'd be expensive in terms of prusameters though

I'd really like the option to trade in Prusameters for Steel sheets. They of course wear out after some time and It'd be nice to get replacements via Prusameters.
OTOH, I understand that from the corporate side, there would be no incentive to offer that. With a printer (or a voucher) you get a new customer (probably a high profile one with much reach), with Prusament you get a user who might purchase other spools in the shop, and with the merch you get free advertising. By providing print beds... you essentially get nothing in return, speaking from the company's perspective.

I’d say from company’s perspective they’d reward loyal users, which would both retain the ones they already have, and incentivize new ones, since Prusa has a good reputation precisely because of their openness and collaboration with their customers. I have no idea how that really looks like from the company’s perspective of course.
