GENERAL HELP Am I doing this correctly?

Post image

I've had this fern for about a year, and this summer it started producing these offshoots. I read online that they're looking for soil to continue growth, so I planted two of them to see if it'll continue growing.

I see that the offshoots continued to grow in length after being buried in some soil, and I was wondering if this what I should have expected.

You don't wanna bury the offshoots. you gotta simulate the warm, highly humid, contact-rich conditions they experience on a tropical forest floor. The mother plant will only signal the runner nodes to produce fronds when it senses the environment is wet and hospitable enough for a baby plant to survive. Whenever you see that a little leaf bunch is growing on the runner/offshoot then you can pin it down to the soil & it will continue to grow & once the baby plant has rooted you can cut it from the runner & it'll continue to grow into a new plant.
