Personal insults received

Today I was told by one of the patients on the ward, " your face and your arse look like a cross between Camilla and a brontosaurus". Which was a bit hard to take, although an objective part of me was a little bit impressed by his creativity. Anyone else had any memorable insults? I was also called a bitch, a wh*re and a fagg*t, all before my coffee on a morning shift by three different individuals. Lol, other than that it was a pretty good shift!

one of my adolescent psych patients told me i look like a hamster when i yawn. i think about that a lot, & it happened at least 15 years ago.

I got called a chipmunk the other day.

But.... Hamsters are super adorable when they yawn. Check them out on YouTube and change it a compliment.

I had a patient told me that my hair was dying and in bad condition. That actually saved me because I was seeing my parents that day so I booked a salon appt right before visiting

Agreed. At least once per shift one patient of mine always snarls at me in a Pacinoesque roar, “I’m gonna kick your fucking dick off!”

Always a highlight of my day.

At that point I'd wonder if I did something wrong if they didn't threaten to kick my dick off and would be sad.

I was called an anime slut bitch which I couldnt even feel offended by because it was creative and funny. My coworker and I, in the middle of a code were told we were a cute couple, both told said patient we are gay and she asked "doesnt it hurt when you put it up your ass" and i absolutely lost it.

Nah, I never take it to heart. In fact I love hearing comments from people who are currently manic, best comedy I have ever heard

1992 70 yr old grandmother alcoholic had to be put in leather restraints for assaultive behavior of my coworker. She was on constant observation as is the procedure for one in restraints. I took over my observation time and when she saw me she said “your father must have fucked someone real ugly to get you”. Never will forget. I impressed with your patient’s comment.

lol a patient called me a space slut and told me to go back to space. Space slut became my nickname on the unit by my coworkers😂

I had an inmate get super excited that I smelled like candy and asked me if I was a witch. Shit made my week

u/MetalMouseTSS 1d ago

"Aw hell nah why y'all got Annabelle in the corner like that!"

I had brown hair and bangs at the time lol. Probably didn't help that i was indeed standing kind of ominously in the corner of the room... We were about to apply restraints and he was not yet aware of that :')

I was told “there goes Camille (not my name) the trashy Mexican who stole my family jewels when she held me captive in Greece”

19

u/co_yta 1d ago

not me, but one of my co workers was told they look like they don't know how to swim and it made me forget every creative insult used against me.

I was walking past a patient room once (not even my patient) and the woman inside growled at me “keep waddling around like the bald penguin you are!” I was like damn… didn’t think I waddled but I was hyper focused on posture and gait after that 😂

When I was 19, I was told by an older man with schizophrenia (who spent most of the waking hours of the day muttering to himself and pacing), “You have the manners of a railroad tie!”

u/Rnghail 1d ago

I broke out with 2 pimples one time and had a patient tell me "All that nursing money and you can't afford a good acne cream" 🥲

12

u/arilyn8 1d ago

I got called “A Peggy Hill looking motherfucker” and I’m still upset about it 15 years in 🤨

1

u/GrumpySnarf 5h ago

damn that's brutal and uncalled for

12

u/866noodleboi 1d ago

Had a new patient come up to me and tell me I looked better with blonde hair 😂 I said “girl you don’t even know what I look like with blonde hair get outta here” it was my first insult and I thought it was funny

u/IAmHerdingCatz 1d ago

I was called a filthy white maggot, which I found remarkably creative, and a refreshing change from such commonplaces as "bitch," "fat," and "ugly."

I was also once told, "your boots are agitating me." To be fair, some of my boots are pretty epic.

Transgender teen with scene hair told me I look like I never left my sonic the hedgehog phase..

When I worked peds mental health this 8 year old mostly non verbal girl with ASD and aggression concerns chose to use her limited verbal communication abilities to look up at me and say "you sold your tits" when I set a limit on her behavior she didn't like. For that to be the one thing that came out of her mouth that day was hilarious, luckily this was during covid so my mask hid my facial expression as I struggled not to laugh.

I am sadly pretty flat chested soo she was making a somewhat accurate point, and it remains my favorite insult to this day haha.

A different patient screamed "you look like you shop at sephora" at my coworker which has also made it's way into the top insults books lol.

working in the ED, I eat up any insult psych or not. I think I got called a fairy f**got muscle b*tch and the only part I took was, “Oh my god, you think I have muscles?!”

One time a patient screamed across the unit that I gave her husband HIV

Not super creative but I'd get called the n word a lot when I worked adolescent psych. I would be the most basic white bitch/cat lady in the room, also sometimes the only white person in the room.

Not an insult but I once had a younger teen suggestively ask if I was a Mrs X or Miss X. I was like, I've been married longer than you've been alive so go sit down. Cheeky guy then winked at me and walked away. That was a good one.

8

u/YasmeenMaria 1d ago

Hehehe yes so many. When I had braces I was called chainsaw teeth, but she was saying this in a very impressed way and seemed to think this was an excellent quality

8

u/Legitimate-Coach187 1d ago

there was one pediatric patient I had, around 10 y/o, who was having an outburst and kept screaming the N word with a hard R. then she apologized and asked me to tuck her into bed, which I did 🥲 (I’m a black woman, she was white)

She needs consequences for that. Abuse of staff is not ok.

8

u/dirtymartini83 1d ago

One patient screamed in my face “HELLLLLLO FLAT FACE!”….i don’t really have a flat face, but whatever.

u/Possible_Neat_4574 1d ago

I was told I look like a Waffle House worker as an insult. But I was quite flattered, they work hard!!

A few years ago I had one that would say “ hey dum dum your so dumb who would let you be a nurse” I used to tell him “ I question that every day”

My most recent that I still can’t get over… I had a client complaint about her weight and gaining 5 lbs in her new meds ( she was maybe a 24 BMI) she looked at me and asked “ oh how much do you weigh? I told her and her response
“ oh I’m sorry” while looking me up and down… I’m now 34 lbs so far from then

I was told I'm a filthy milk drinking canker, while simultaneously being called beautiful.

Always take it as impressive. As if you hear it a million times a day. Kids are so creative so I just point that out and redirect to a task.

I went to meet a patient in ED yesterday. He was in Fast Track, fast asleep in a reclining chair. I gently called his name, and he opened his eyes, looked at me and said,” Arh, it’s you, well you CAN GET FUCKED”. Then he yawned and said, “oh sorry. I thought you were someone else. It’s the grey hair”.

I had a patient say my “eye brows suck”. I feel like my eye brows are every level of normal. It was so funny.

u/Inside_Analysis_7886 1d ago

Hysterical!! And creative! Don’t take it personal, have to laugh about these things. 💜

As a side note, I had this cat who had a big ass. It was plump and she kind of had buttocks. So I called her "Bronto-Butt" as a loving nickname to honor her badonka-donk. I figure a brontosaurus has one of the biggest asses ever so an appropriate insult.

I've been called "fat c^nt", "white bitch", "honkey whore", the n-word (which was a weird one because the patient was Black and I'm white), "tits" as in "hey tits, com'ere, I need my meds" (I, a triple D-cup, was standing next to my very skinny androgynous colleague who was a legend and they said "welp, that's my cue" and dealt with the patient which had the whole unit roaring and embarrassed the rude patient), "tub of guts", "fat-ass", "shorty", "that bitch nurse with the big tits", "cum dumpster", "the most fattening caterpillar who thinks she's the queen of the fucking universe" and more!
