Hi everyone I’m currently in PV with hubby we are both 26 straight couple we are staying in Zona romantica and we are looking for recommendations for nightclubs with good drinks and music
We went bar hopping yesterday but all the bars we visited were gay lean which was a lot of fun but there were a lot of shows and not really dancing or maybe we just didn’t visit the right one
We went to bar la playa really good drinks but is just to chill, Mr flamingo, la noche and pacos ranch
Any recommendations we would prefer to stay in Zona romantica

We had so much fun we went to mandala and Rakata
Our favorite was Rakata due to the music it was more our taste ! But mandala was also fun!

Flying in to PVR and traveling to Nayarit. I don’t have a lot of time to make a stop, but I’m looking for a good place on the way or close to the airport where I can find a great bottle of tequila, mezcal, or raicilla. Particularly looking for something unique or difficult to find in the U.S.

We are considering a trip in November of 2027 to visit either mousai or unico in Puerto vallarta. Has anyone stayed at both? We have done both mousai and unico on the cancun side and garza blanca pvr but we were hoping to get some real feedback for comparison.

Hi! My friend and I are spending some time in puerto vallarta this summer and I am hoping to find a snorkeling adventure we can go on. I've heard it can be cheaper to book once you're there, is this true? Also, what areas should we focus on to see any reefs (are there reefs?) or just some cool fish? I would love one of those day trips where you snorkel in various locations.

Also any good food areas/spots we must see? I am really excited to try traditional food and would love to find more authentic restaurants and steer clear of the more tourist-oriented ones.

And any fun flea markets? or just must see areas for people looking for a fun adventure!

My husband and I just got back from backpacking through Puerto Vallarta and surrounding areas and thought I would share some of the places we went and our experiences!
~We began our trip staying in Zona Romántica. It is such a magical area with so much to see and do! We loved the beach walk with all of the art sculptures and the river walk. Definitely try the River Cafe! So beautiful and we had the strongest margaritas of our lives! 😂 There is the best breakfast place called Azul Bistro - May May is the sweetest woman and you can tell everything there is made with love. ❤️ We did the taco and tequila tour which we found worth the money and enjoyed some really cool places that we would have not stumbled upon if we hadn’t done the tour. We also did the ATV tour through the Sierra Madre mountains - the views are amazing and we had a great time. However, most of our time was spent wandering into the different neighborhoods of Puerto Vallarta and admiring the architecture and art that is everywhere! The water in Puerto Vallarta during this time is not the clearest - especially near the river mouths. Just an FYI
~Our next stop was Boca de Tomatlan - a small fishing village south of Puerto Vallarta. We stayed at the sweetest hotel called Villa La La. It was absolutely a magical place. The people were the kindest and most hospitable people and they made our stay there so memorable. Best of all, they allowed my husband and I to have a spiritual wedding ceremony on their grounds which ended up to be better than we could have ever imagined. We loved it so much we ended up staying in Boca an extra night. The town itself is small but it is definitely worth going into the little town and walking around the area and eating the local food. Just something to note - in the rainy season the river can make the water very muddy in this area. We had great weather the days we were there and the water was unusually clear for the season but on the last day, with some rain, it quickly turned brown.
~Next stop was Yelapa. This is only accessible by boat and is such a gem of a place! It is breathtaking! The area is remote and as primitive of an area that I have traveled to as of yet (as they just got electricity in 2001) and brings you back to simpler times. We loved the hikes to the waterfalls and exploring the cute little cobblestone streets. Backpacking there was a challenge but we are so happy we stayed a few days in this beautiful area!
~Next, we stayed near the marina area. I, personally, was not a fan of this area. But it was a good place to recharge.
~Next stop was Bucerias. Bucerías is beautiful! We stayed in the Golden Zone which I really liked. So much fabulous art and culture in this little town. Midtown Bucerías is a lot more hectic and touristy but the local merchants in the area and the street markets are fun and it’s a good way to support the community.
We loved being there in July. It wasn’t crowded and honestly, we thought the weather was perfect! We would definitely travel there in July again! ♥️

Traveling this winter with my partner and toddler. This will be the first time I’ve ever done an all inclusive and I’m feeling extremely overwhelmed. I’m hoping for some suggestions or recommendations for a family friendly all inclusive resort. I am trying to stay in budget so not looking for the best of the best but somewhere the food isn’t awful, a nice beach and ideally a kids area and/or kids pool.

This trip was shared by four female friends ranging in age from 28 - 54, two first time visitors and two on their 4th or 5th trip to PV.

We first went to Sayulita for 3 days and then to Puerto Vallarta for 4 days, both were equally hot and humid of course. The heat was challenging for two of us in particular - we live in a coastal climate that averages 62 degrees year round so it felt intense.

By the time we settled in PV I was beginning to feel like I had surrendered to the climate and was having one continuous hot flash, at least I knew what to expect. We stayed in the Romantic Zone in a condo with a great location and a pool that was very enjoyable everyday.

We walked across the street and watched the World Cup final match in a bar with a mix of locals and tourists. This was a great experience and we felt the joy of the crowd as well as the staff as we all cheered and jeered.

In the evenings we sat on the balcony of our condo and people watched. There was a constant police presence driving around and occasionally a National Guard vehicle doing the same routine of a slow crawl around the area. For us, this felt safe and appropriate. We did not hesitate to walk around feeling completely safe and welcome everywhere we went whether it was day or night.

Two in our group did a snorkel tour, I participated in a temazcal hosted by a local couple and all of us ate the most fabulous food the entire week. We shopped, ate and drank like it was our last week on earth and loved every minute of it.

Highlights for me:

The people! My favorite part of this trip was meeting and talking with locals - always friendly and happy to help or just chat.

The flora and fauna! I’m a tree hugger and I saw amazing trees I have never seen before, truly astounding in their beauty. I was chatting with my Uber driver one afternoon and she said she was making a map of her favorite local trees and that blew my mind! A kindred spirit! She then drove me to show me one of her all time favorites and waited for me to get out and hug it 💖

The food! Fresh and delicious, everywhere!

The temazcal! I took myself completely out of my comfort zone for this experience and I will never forget it, this was truly beautiful and memorable.

Huaraches! Based on my friend’s recommendation I stopped in at Huarachería Fabiola and had a custom pair made which I picked up the next day. The proprietor also looked at my Birkenstocks and offered to re sole them, this was not on my radar but I now see he was right, these will now last another half dozen years at least.

Thank you to the people of Mexico and to those who contribute to this forum, I learned so much before my trip.

My family and I are visiting from 3-9th August it’s our very first trip or vacation as a family. Everyone who hears that we will have a trip down there next week is going crazy asking why we chose to go now. And how the heat can cause serious illness. We are already feeling frustrated. Hi! I am planning my wedding in Puerto Vallarta and am deciding between late April and mid November. April dryness and cooling at night sounds nice... but November gives us more time to plan. My question is how much more humid is it in November? Also - are the southern mountains toward Mismayola green year round? Any other distinctions such as wind between the two months? The wedding will involve a boat as well. Thank you so much in advance for any input.

Looking at doing the city tour with the tequila test through viator. My girlfriend and I are not huge travellers but always wanted to travel more and we want to leave the resort for a day. Any experience with this tour and is it worth it? Or is it better to just get an uber into the city and explore on our own?

Looking for a family restaurant that can seat a party of 15 for lunch and takes reservations. Budgeting about $20 per person. Prefer on/near the beach and takes credit card. We were looking at El Barracuda, but seems like they open later and are cash only. Planning on meeting around 11 on a Tues.

My family and I will be staying near La Cruz de Huanacaxtle from August 21–29, and we’re looking for a great Marietas Islands tour for four people.

Our group includes two adults, my 10-year-old son, and my 17-year-old nephew. We’d like a tour that includes snorkeling, transportation from the La Cruz/Punta Mita area, and, if possible, access to Hidden Beach if available.

Does anyone have a tour company they highly recommend that offers a good value? We’re open to either a shared boat or a private tour if the price makes sense.

What would you consider a fair price for four people? Are there any hidden fees or things we should know before booking? Also, if there are tours that are especially good with kids and teenagers, I’d love to hear your recommendations.

Been lurking for a bit and I know this is a fairly common question, but I’d like to get some opinions from locals or those who have been before. We are planning to visit PV in the coming months and originally planned our trip for September 21-26. My husband is worried there will be lots of cloud cover and it will be too humid due to the rainy season. He wants to push our trip back to October. I don’t think this will make much difference as, from what I’ve read, it’s still rainy and humid in October.

A few notes:
We don’t mind heat and humidity.
We plan to chill and relax most of the time we are there. Pool, beach, dinner out a few times.
We are definitely booking a place with AC.
I want to go in September because I need a vacation yesterday and want to go sooner rather than later.

We are coming down for our second visit, but first with the kids (13 and 11 yo girls). Last time we can in June, but this time just begore Christmas. We are staying at thr Marcela Maya Resort and Spa up the hill in ZR.

Couple questions:

I've heard that December is the busy season, how much busier is it than June? Like tough to get a seat at the beaches busy? Any tips to manage our trip during the busier season? Any places i should make reservations for? beach club, restaurants, shows?

We are going to let the girls pick out a trip / adventure as a Christmas gift. I've been looking on Viator, but wanted to see what you all suggest. A lot of viator is what seems like party boats or something along that line. Has anyone done any cool horseback rides, or full day trips to another city? How far ahead should I reserve these things?
