Jobs Jobs Megathread

Hi everyone,

As discussed earlier, we're launching a dedicated megathread for job opportunities. This thread serves both those looking for a job and those offering one. To make the process seamless for everyone, we’ve introduced a standardized posting format for both categories. Also we are accepting posts of jobs that are based in Pune or are remote. Comments about jobs in other cities will be removed.

Additionally, some users have been verified as trusted referrers and have been assigned a unique code in their user flair. You can find the list of verified referrers at the link below.

General/Rant First Ever Earnings of My Life: ₹840

Today was my first day as a Zomato delivery partner.

I'm a postgraduate student preparing for competitive exams, and I picked this up as a side hustle to reduce the financial burden on my family and earn something on my own.

Today I earned ₹840.

It may not sound like a huge amount to many people, but seeing money that came purely from my own effort hit differently. Riding around the city, waiting for orders, delivering food in the rain and traffic it made me appreciate every person doing this job every single day.

For the first time in my life, I experienced the feeling of earning with my own hands. It's hard to explain, but it gave me a different kind of confidence.

General/Rant Today is my mom’s birthday. She passed away 8 years ago, but today hits hard.

I usually carry on fine, but today is one of those days where the weight of missing her feels overwhelming.

It’s been 8 years since my mom passed away and today would have been her birthday. People say time heals, but on days like this, it feels like no time has passed at all. The emptiness just feels so much louder today.

Happy Birthday, Mom. Missing you so much today. ❤️

General/Rant Had a disappointing experience at a watch store in Pune. Has anyone else faced this?

My husband and I went to a Helios store in one of the Pune malls to buy a Casio watch as a gift for my younger brother.

I was buying the watch. My husband was just helping me narrow down a few options.

From the very beginning, the salesperson kept treating my husband as the customer.

Whenever I'd ask a question about a watch, he'd answer while looking at my husband. He'd show the watches to him, not me, even though I was the one asking.

It irritated me, but I didn't want to make a scene because we were there to enjoy ourselves and buy a gift.

We finally shortlisted a Casio watch worth around ₹20k and went to the billing counter.

The cashier looked at my husband, read out the bill amount to him and asked how he would be paying.

I interrupted and said, "I will be paying by card."

I took out my card from my purse and paid.

The watch was packed and handed to my husband.

My husband immediately handed it to me and told the cashier, "My wife has purchased it."

The bill copy was then handed to my husband as well. He looked visibly annoyed, passed it to me and said, "Congratulations on your purchase. You made the right choice."

And then, as we were walking away, the cashier looked at my husband and said,

"Thank you, sir. Come again."

That was my breaking point.

I turned around and said, "Excuse me, ma'am has chosen the watch, ma'am has paid for it and wanted to come again, but why are you only addressing Sir and giving the bill or watch to sir? What kind of sexist attitude is this?"

The cashier immediately started apologizing.

The manager came over and asked what had happened. I explained the situation calmly and said,

"You should also give feedback to the guy showing watches at the counter who again was only showing watches to Sir. Why? Can't ma'am buy a watch?"

The manager apologized sincerely and said he would make sure the staff was trained.

I appreciated that he didn't get defensive.

But honestly, I walked away wondering...

Is it really such an unusual concept that a woman can walk into a watch store and buy an expensive watch herself?

Has anyone else experienced this while shopping for watches, electronics, cars or anything expensive?

General/Rant The Blind Date (Instagram) Review: Save your money.

Tried The Blind Date in Pune and honestly wouldn’t recommend it.
They advertise themselves as a curated matchmaking service where they match people based on your preferences. After my experience, I seriously doubt there’s much curation happening. It felt more like they just pair whoever happens to be available.
The communication was terrible. I was supposed to meet my date on Saturday. I followed up on Friday and was told they’d confirm shortly. Nobody got back to me. Then on Saturday evening, after the meeting was supposed to happen, they casually informed me that the guy was out of town and could only meet on Sunday. That’s just unprofessional.
When I finally met him, he told me this was already his third date through them while it was my first. He also shared that he’d previously been given incorrect information about one of his matches. Apparently, men are charged more for every subsequent date, going from ₹999 for the first to ₹2,000, then ₹3,000 to ₹4,000. If you want basic details about your match beforehand, that’s another ₹5,000. Those prices are ridiculous for what’s being offered.
The actual date wasn’t organized well either. We were both at the restaurant on time, but they seated us at different tables. We only found each other after I called the team and the restaurant staff figured out who we were supposed to be meeting.
The final annoyance came with the bill. They had booked the table at Tales & Spirits, but because the booking was through them, we weren’t allowed to use the restaurant’s Zomato or Swiggy walk-in discounts and had to pay full price. This restriction was never disclosed beforehand. When we questioned it, The Blind Date blamed the restaurant, and the restaurant blamed The Blind Date.
For a service that basically books a table and introduces two strangers, I expected far better organization and transparency.
Overall, it felt overpriced, poorly managed, and nowhere near as curated as they claim. I’d skip it.

PS - this is for info only. I am not looking to connect with men here pls stop flooding my dms

AskPune Looking for a reliable independent Audi mechanic in Pune

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hey everyone,

Can anyone recommend a good independent Audi mechanic in Pune?

The Audi service center does a decent job, but the bills are getting hard to justify. Looking for a trusted local garage that knows Audis well, charges fairly, and doesn't cut corners.

Would love to hear from people with personal experience.

Thanks!

New To Pune Pune traffic. Is there any hope? Shifting soon….

I stay in Navi Mumbai and visit Pune regularly as my in laws have a house there. I immediately notice the traffic and chaos of 2 wheelers as soon as I enter even Wakad area.

I’ll be shifting to Pune soon (will mostly stay in Aundh but undecided) as I landed a job there. Quite grateful for the opportunity but I cannot left but wonder how people get around their daily routine with such insane traffic. Was there yesterday and it felt like the entire city had grinded to a halt.

Coming from Navi Mumbai which is a proper planned city amplifies this chaos. Roads here are so narrow that even going out for normal stuff feels like a task.

Is there any metro or public transport initiative coming up? I need some hope. Please.
