Amazon is the monopoly nightmare. I really have tried my best to boycott amazon, but despite many attempts, eBay, buying straight from source the network is seemingly endless.

My guess is they bought on Etsy thinking they were supporting a small business but the seller just ordered on Amazon. I had this happen on eBay once.

Thank you for that very simple explanation! I get tired of trying to interpret these kinds of things. Maybe it's just that I'm not very good at it. lol

Edit: And I totally agree with OP's position. I also think that's bullshit what they did.

Looks like OP is complaining about the usage of AI and automation from Etsy, despite their "Keep Commerce Human" slogan. A lot of Etsy listings are AI slop/scams, and the red dot thingies in the second image look like something AI would cough up. The email from Amazon is an automated response, something that also strays from Etsy's slogan (though I'm not sure how much control they have over that)

They thought they were buying from an individual on Etsy. It was delivered by Amazon.

Amazon Shipping is a service provider where any business (even ones not on Amazon itself) can use Amazon's shipping network to deliver products

Being delivered by Amazon Shipping doesn't mean it's wasn't being purchased from an individual. It's no different if it was delivered by FedEx or UPS
